The story really suffers in the Realta Nua version in my opinion. Not just the sex stuff, but they completely rewrite Sakura's past, making her story weaker. I say this as a Sakura fan, from the OG FSN at least. I watched someone play through Realta Nua recently as I hadn't played it myself. I didn't realise how much they butchered until seeing the whole thing. It's a shame, really.

Up until the Shinji scene after Shirou found his resolve, it was fine. Drinking blood and what not played hand in hand with the whole mana/od coming from fluid. But Shinji pushing her around not only feels comically weaker than her OG fate, it basically removes the whole pretense and weak excuse for Shinji to act out his minor ego over her.

When people talk about Realta Nua, all I'd heard in the past was that they removed the sex scenes. So, foolishly, I thought it can't be that bad.
But removing how fucked up Sakura's past and present were in terms of her abuse makes her going dark way less convincing to me. I just don't buy it. As much as people shit on the movies, at least they adapted some of that aspect in there with what little runtime those things had.

The rain scene is especially shit by comparison as well. Shirou coming to the realisation that he's viewed Sakura as someone she's not, and fighting with his feelings for her. Him coming to terms with all the signs that he ignored in the past, and accepting the real her. Man, that was my favourite scene from the original game. It just doesn't hit the same in Realta Nua.
