I've been rewatching it after 10-15 years or so.
So far, the show excels when it's silly episodic adventures. The lullaby stuff was probably the best-ish mashima got when doing semi serious stuff. Reminds me a lot of Arlong Park, in that it's a pretty early story arc that does the best it can with the primitive elements of a long running shonen.
Galuna is actually pretty neat too, but i have a handful of issues with. For instance, the whole arc feels somewhat pointless when it's revealed that Deliora was already a frozen corpse and that the villagers were demons. So if the heroes had failed, it really feels like nothing would have happened. Second, despite being such an important arc to gray, it doesn't feel like he changed much before and after it. That said, the arc did have some good stuff. Like Gray feeling shame on calling Natsu an idiot for taking such a mission when he did the same. Natsu stopping gray from comitting suicide twice, and him overall seeming pretty levelheaded and actually being witty in some instances like tricking a guy into paralysing himself. And Gray taking strenght in his fights with Natsu as a youngster. Also the joke of Erza falling for for the pitfall Lucy pointlessly set a handful of chapters before was a great joke.
Currently starting Phantom Lord which i have high hopes for given the shilling it has had in these threads. But Tower of Heaven is by far the arc i'm looking forward the most.

I'm usually the kind who says Fairy Tail is no different from other battle shonen series when it comes to the criticism iy it receives and therefore it's disingenuous to act like they don't do power of friendship speeches (I won't give up!), last minute power-ups, low stakes and fakeouts, but even here it's just a bit much. Not even a chapter, not even a last page reveal after a fight in which Gray gets his ass kicked... Even Gajeel and Juvia's last fakeout had a few chapters despite you knowing they weren't going to die. This is immediately the very next page.

Lucy deserves a REAL pink haired man like Yuji.
Make her part of the Euro or American branch of the sorcerer community who works on/off with Team Gojo, having the same chemistry with them as with her own cast.
After doing a couple of missions with Yuji - some fanservice here, some genuine character moments there - they become much closer, Lucy becoming an emotional pillar for Yuji to hold on to his humanity, but also leverage for Sukuna to let Yuji give him full control in order to protect her.

We start with a narration of how Mavis Vermillion, the 1st Titania, led the free peoples of Earthland to victory against Demon Lord Zeref. Upon returning home as heroes, Mavis and her companions found the Fairy Tail guild for knights, mages, thives and other free-spirited adventurers.
Generations later, we meet our audience surrogate, little Wendy Marvell, arriving in Magnolia in hopes of joining FT when she crosses paths with the guild’s Paladin and the current Titania Erza Scarlett in the middle of investigating a Fake-Magic smuggling operation. Erza’s search leads her to a warehouse run by the rouge guild responsible, with Wendy providing an unexpected but much appreciated assist to the mighty Titania Erza.
Erza and Wendy’s early adventures together see them working with different members of FT on numerous missions:

The 1st third of the story caps off with Demon Guard, a guild of Zeref acolytes led by the Oracion Seis, hijacking the Grand Magic Games to revive the Demon Lord and his legions. Makarov is among the casualties, giving his life to protect his guild and everyone else (no fake outs), as the members of FT and other prominent guilds are scattered in the aftermath.
The 2nd third, of course, focuses on Erza and Wendy slowly but surely regrouping with their guildmates while searching for and reforging The Ten Commandments, the sacred blade of Titania Mavis that first defeated Zeref generations earlier.

I will always remember the clearly heightened level of detail they put in when that BDSM bitch was torturing Erza. They didn't need to go so far as to include an embedded little trough of stone running between her legs so she could pee/sweat and it would run off but I appreciate the thought that clearly went into it. I just wish I'd been present for the threads here when that came out because I'd have liked to read the reactions when that arc was going on too.
