Is it considered convergent evolution how carnivorous plants like the venus flytrap evolved to have fang-like spikes for trapping their prey which look a lot like the fangs of carnivorous animals, or how their insect-trapping mechanism looks very similar to an animal biting something?

Such mechanisms evolved a billion years ago in microorganisms. desu I think there's some else influencing evolution we haven't scratched at. God gene theory really doesn't make sense the deeper you dive into mimicry. At what point does it no longer differ from convergent evolution

I'll go with no, just because the features look similar, doesn't mean they do the same thing. In the case of the flytrap the "teeth" for a cage so the prey can't escape until the trap closes completely, meanwhile animals use teeth to chew, crush and shred .

So it's converging with baleen whales then.

Nah, insects just love ruining your day by flying in your eyes, so plants were like hah I'm gonna take advantage of that asshole behavior

It's coincidence because they serve a different purpose

There are many examples of teeth doing that. Baleen that anon mentioned is one example. Picrel is another. This fish doesn't have the jaw strength to bite chunks out of prey, and the teeth are the wrong shape for that. The teeth form a cage to entrap small prey. Some kinds of teeth, like molars, are used for grinding up food. But other kinds of teeth have other functions.

One could argue the fish in the picture doesn't have teeth then
