the sad part is cats dont necessarily have to spread toxo and if they do its often to people other than their owner, because to become infected they have to be allowed to roam and hunt infected animals
>but thats their purpose!
theres also no evidence they reduce or eliminate pest populations and plenty of evidence that they don’t, and in field and farm contexts, make them worse
>but my cat needs freedom!
they have half the neurological complexity of a small dog. most indoor cat owners report that their cats are perfectly happy. for reference even small dogs need walks, training, and socialization while cats do not. low maintenance cat is low maintenance.

Pretty alarming this isn't even funny to me. Governments worldwide should immediately start culling en mass and ban ownership if they're a serious parasite vector.
WTF are we meant to do if we've been exposed over our lifespan. How would we even know and what can we do?
Even if you don't own a cat these now confirmed parasites are everywhere and you can easily be exposed through a friend or family member that owns one.

Humans are not a very intelligent species on average and can not really get angry and take action over delayed, indirect threats. They are overzealous in pursuing perceived, direct threats with a short window of action. Most developed nations have an average IQ of 100, which means 50% of people are effectively retarded and some regions are majority tard. Any nation that has reported a higher average IQ lied. For instance, china's internal studies indicate a nationwide average IQ in the 90s, due to cities and rural areas being over 1 standard deviation apart. It is often said that jews have an average IQ of 115. That was extrapolated from the verbal IQs of private school students. Israel's average IQ is in the mid 90s, within the margin of error, as the average is 100.
There is no evidence that peak human intelligence has improved in the past 400 years at all, and some evidence it's actually gotten worse.
If there are some feral dogs with rabies humans will gladly kill every last one, even non-rabid dogs, and if they're a low avg IQ group, play it safe and erect cultural traditions of hating all dogs (since low IQ = can't discern threat level effectively)
They will gladly kill every rabid animal they can see (this means they leave the cats, because cats are a rabies *reservoir*, not a vector, since rabid cats typically lay low and only transmit it to other animals... and the next time, there's more rabid dogs because stray dogs eat cats)
And this is because rabies is directly observable. Rabid dog bites, human gets sick.
Toxoplasmosis is not directly observable and most humans can not visibly link it to cats. You can get it eating fucking salad. 50% of recorded toxoplasmosis *hospitalizations* are from vegetables, 50% from meat. You can get it from working in your garden, from a cat that was there a week ago. And most people don't get sick, they go crazy, which humans are glad to assume was caused by something else other than parasites.

Calm down. If you live in the countryside and hasn't bumped your dog or cat with thousand vaccines it's more likely that you already have more than one parasites in your body. So stop being afraid of something that hasn't killed anyone with normal functioning immune system. As far as I know specifically for Toxoplasmosis some studies even suggest that it can increase testosterone (but this is observed in correlation studies only).

We've been over this
https://desuarchive.org/an/thread/5082276/
Studies showing correlation between schizophrenia/impulsiveness/anger issues and latent toxoplasmosis are inherently flawed because they aren't sampling people before and after infection. They're just comparing previous infected people against uninfected people. This means that it's equally likely these studies are just showing that impulsive schizophrenics are more likely to get infected in the first place, rather than that the parasite is causing the impulsiveness and schizophrenia.
The increased likelihood is also often exaggerated; you're twice as likely to have schizophrenia if you use cannabis than if you have latent toxoplasmosis.
This isn't to say that you should let your cat roam around outdoors or that you should huff cat shit, but it is to say that you shouldn't live in fear just from having been near outdoor cats. Using flawed research to believe with certainty that mind altering parasites are everywhere is almost certainly as bad for your mental health as latent toxoplasmosis could potentially be.

I'm not sure if you intended it this way, but your post sort of proves my point about not knowing whether latent toxoplasmosis causes schizophrenia or schizophrenia increases the likelihood of toxoplasmosis. If irritable schizophrenics are more likely to own cats, it isn't necessarily due to toxoplasmosis, and they could be contracting toxoplasmosis due to their schizophrenia, rather than contracting schizophrenia due to their toxoplasmosis.
Without studies testing for behavioral changes pre and post infection, it's likely that impulsive schizophrenics are more likely to like cats, which exposes them to toxoplasmosis as a result, without the latent toxoplasmosis itself being the cause of the mental health or personality issues.
Meaning if you aren't an impulsive schizophrenic to begin with, getting infected with latent toxoplasmosis could have absolutely no effect on you and your behavior and mental health could be entirely unchanged.

Did you look in the mirror before putting on your "i'm a retard" hat today. A parasite that turns itself into a cyst when you try to remove it, that also actively drives most animals to violence in order to kill the host and spread again (there's your stupid testosterone point) is not something to ignore.
>>
>>5099797
It infects all warm blooded animals and drives smaller one's like rats to fight predators in order to kill the host and spread. Just because humans are larger and have more power to resist shit like this, doesn't mean you're not being affected by it with possible long term consequences if they reach any part of your brain.
Nothing about that is shrimple.

Sit down little man, this information is the type of shit the anti vaxxers support because it's based in reality. Not some experimental shit with mercury thrown in but a parasite that's been known since before you got lucky and swam out ur dad's balls. I therefore suggest that you kys faggot.
