Once while I was off work for a few weeks I got saddled with dog sitting for a relative for a week. She had a dog with severe separation anxiety and was also afraid of men so she (the dog) would constantly bark any time she was alone but also refused to let me comfort her in any way and just kept her distance from me. I don't think I got a full night of sleep the entire time I was there from that dog randomly barking in the middle of the night. Literally anyone else would have been better off taking care of that dog but I guess I was the only one that was available.

Ever since that I stopped telling people when I'm on vacation.
