No, it's a shitty Chevy SUV. I hit a low barrier at night trying to deliver food to a shitty apartment after I lost my job and I fucked up the engine. It doesn't have automatic brakes or any kind of proximity sensor, the headlights are dim as fuck too.

To directly quote my experience:
"I went to the most reputable mechanic close by according to Jewgle reviews and forwent the opportunity to get it fixed at the shop of someone I personally knew for much cheaper since I made the assumption that they wouldn't send a tow truck just for me since I was over 100 miles away...and then they told me that they would but it was too late by then since they already finished fixing muh vehicle by the time I told them.

I shouldn't have given them the greenlight in the first place. Nonetheless, you live and you learn."

you got fucking swindled dude

no shit

I don't think you can even take legal action in the first place if your car got fixed properly. Most people wouldn't file in court in the first place because it's probably fighting a losing battle and it takes substantial resources to do so.

Depends on the car and the level of repairs
I don't think its uncommon for a car to just be totaled by age and regular wear though, like you can buy a car for 4k sure but it might cost more than that to repair over the next year
I think the only solution is to by an older style motorcycle and learn how to maintain/repair it yourself since there's not really a whole lot going on compared to a car

The shop I went to only carried new parts for repairs, from what I could tell... Major parts of the engine had to be replaced and parts plus labor for that add up and can get pretty expensive.

A big factor in those labor costs is how easy it is to access the key components of a vehicle to repair it—some vehicle engineers are retarded or something and their design forces you to do the most elaborate motions for disassembly while other designs are more genius and straightforward. My shitty Chevy was more on the retardedly engineered side.

I needed to move out of a house I was renting by the end of the month. My accident happened like a week before I was supposed to move out and I assumed involving the insurance process was going to take weeks so I just decided to foot the bill myself. I desperately needed my vehicle in order to complete the move and avoid eviction and no one offered to help me move out lol...
