Hows that "walkable city" treating you when you realize the only meaningful way to get to your employment is using public infrastructure.
Most Americans only drive 15 minutes tops to their place of employment.

My 8.5 hour shift is actually 7 hours.

Over half of my team at work commutes from Manhattan because they want to live in Manhattan.
I work two hours north of Manhattan.
On the other hand small town living is unbearably isolating so maybe they're the smart ones.
