If you are a blue collar, always offer to work for free
>2 tiles came off in my outdoor front stairs
>dad asks construction boss next door building house to fix it
>construction boss says sure, its free (obviously)
>dad says not free (obviously)
>construction guy fixes it next day
>dad gives him $100
>costs less than $0.50 to fix
Always offer to work for free.

>most tradies don’t make much desu
100%, never said otherwise. Don't reply to me again, adults are speaking kid
>>
>>61926140
A tradie walked up to me on site while we were commissioning a machine and asked how much our guys make. I said 60-70...lots of OT. He goes "oh yeah we make that much too...70 grand ain't bad for a 28 year old" or something like that. I said, "That's per hour." I'll never forget the shame in his face.

NEVER do anything for free
in OP's case I would ask for a beer or soda. Never do anything for nothing, even a soda or sandwich is better then free.
Now a precedence has been set and the next your father askes he will 100% expect to be free, because
>last time I gave you guys $100? you can do this for free??
or the workers now expect $100 and might do more then required expecting money.
Fuck you and your father

> the next your father askes he will 100% expect to be free
No intelligent adult expects things for free. The construction boss now has a future customer and referrals. Of course he should have offered to do it for free because the workers were next door with all the tools already.

> or the workers now expect $100
No offense but the workers do as they are told. Their boss told them to go next door and patch 2 tiles and they had to. 50 cents worth of paste.
>sandwich or beer
How cheap or poor are you?
This isn’t some brokie neighborhood. The boss knew how to act.

>that blue collar laborer who quotes his top grade hourly rate including health insurance contributions etc. plus double time and a half on a weekend on a holiday over 12 hours a day on a leap year plus per diem with out of town bonus and mileage reimbursement etc. and pretends he makes that much every day of the year

The point it the dumb fucking pipefitter is trying to brag about making 70 grand a year to an engineer making more than double. And 150k isn't even a lot.

>The construction boss now has a future customer and referrals.
A homer owner that just got a repair is going to give him business and referrals? are you insane?
>UHH yea this company next door did something for free for me. I highly recommend them, no I dont really know much about them other then the little job they did pro bono.
>Hello construction company, can you come do job for me?
>What do you mean you only do new construction projects?
>ooh that was just a 1 time thing, no yea i get it, no I dont need a house built right now, ok thanks bye.

your missing the point
never do any work for free. Never.
No one here as done any of this work, so i doubt any of you would understand.
Contractor residential work is for retards anyway. so not surprised they think its a good business strat to do free stuff
Back to your basement incel

He has spoken to my parents a few times. Its just a job for free.
> think its a good business strat to do free stuff
Its less of a job and more of a favor probably. He knows my dad wouldn’t just give him $0. This isn’t a cheap neighborhood.
> Back to your basement incel
Rent in my basement is 20k a month
> Beers. the customer buys them a 6 pack, or they used.
This isn’t that sort of neighborhood
Him asking for a metaphorical sandwich or beer makes him look small time and my dad offering beer looks cheap. When in rome.

> do you know what driveway guys get? Beers. the customer buys them a 6 pack, or they used.
What do you mean? This isn’t even a “job.” It is literally put two tiles on. What “guys?” Its a one man job with tools and workers already on site.
>driveway guys
We are talking about one worker here

>plus the damage on the body
Ironically you probably do way more damage to your body piloting a desk 8 hours a day than people whose job pushes them into regular exercise, though obviously that stops being as sustainable the older you get

Retail is the way to go if you’re not retarded
>start working at Walmart in 2022
>made “coach” within 3 months and now making ~60 a year instead of 30
>2 months after that manager at 86k
>by end of first year i get transferred to a new building and made AGM 100k a year
>GM of that building swaps buildings for a new one after 4 months
>im now GM of a store in a 95% white town with monthly expenses of about 1500 and 130k / y
Looking at corporate gigs next which will start letting me get close to 200
I’m 26, retail is amazing if you’re above 100 IQ cause you just speed-run past everyone else for promotions. As long as color is green for profits over last year you’re getting thousands in bonuses and stock options to boot.
Although i will say, having to pay almost 10k in taxes after given 100+k in stock options during one of my promotions was pretty annoying

If you factor in the time and gas to drive to Lowe's to buy the tile, watch a YouTube video on how to do it, and/or what it costs the construction boss to manage those employees, pay their employer taxes etc, you'll probably get to $100.

>>61932464
The employees and tools and equipment and whatever were already next door. All he had to do was tell someone to
walk next door and glue two tiles on.

This. Its called wear and tear.
