What do you think of kids at cons?
Good? Bad?
Should more cons ban them, I've noticed actual porn stars at Comic Con dressed very revealing and selling their stuff there so maybe that should go 18+

Bad.
I feel like all cons should be 18+ at this point. Both because they've always been a space primarily for manchildrein and whatever the equivalent for women is, but also because of how many perverts attend cons (both now with your Comic Con example and in the past). But at the same time it feels like there are fewer kid-friendly spaces these days in general, so it might be better to risk bringing your kids to events like cons than letting them rot in front of Fortnite all day. Arcades have also turned into places mainly aimed at manchildren and perverts (I can't think of a single arcade in my area that isn't a barcade, and we have many large arcades where I live), but I wouldn't say those should be 18+ as they don't have a tradition of being aimed at an 18+ crowd (despite the aforementioned barcades usually kicking all the kiddies out and becoming 18+ once it gets late enough in the evening).

>some parents treat it like some kind of daycare
The problem is that most parents treat everything like some kind of daycare. Everyone just wants to park their kids somewhere so they can get their three hours of TikTok in.

Kids at cons should be allowed during daytime hours, exposure to cosplay and the hobby is better for kids than wanting to be some retarded streamer or just watching brainrot skibidi shit at home, it gives them something to work on and a craft to perfect. After about 6 or 7pm no one under 18 should be allowed on the con floor unless accompanied by someone over the age of 21 and even then I’d like it to be with proof of hotel stay only but I know that’s a reach. Going to Holmat and seeing retarded 16 year old Hazbin kiddies screeching while I’m trying to get my midnight buzz on made me want to blow my brains out and realize that it is an epidemic and many boomer and now gen X parents are making it daycare, sometimes the whole weekend through. At Holmat 2019 I deadass witnessed a woman check in at the Mariott for her underage daughter and then a seperate room for herself and presumably she was planning to fuck off to the bar or Disney or whatever it is middle aged white women with no personality do while her screeching autistic teenagers run amok.

Kids are fine most of the time, but really depends on the con and how it’s run. If a con is clearly family-friendly, then people should expect kids and behave accordingly. If it’s more of a free-for-all where people are pushing the boundaries with NSFW cosplay and merch, then maybe having kids around isn’t a good idea.
That said, turning every con 18+ because some people push the line is overkill. Cons just need better sectioning, family areas vs. adult zones, so everyone knows what they’re walking into. If parents bring their kids to a con full of lewd cosplays and hentai booths, that’s on them.
Also, let’s be real, half the 'kids shouldn’t be at cons' crowd in this just doesn’t want to be reminded they’re aging weebs.

they should be at least 16+. im sick and tired of getting fucking followed around by kids whose stupid ass parents let them wander the con halls on their own just cuz im cosplaying something they like. next time it happens im punching the little shit and making a run for it

We'll probably have 30+ cons soon with how much millennial-zoomer hostility there is online. There are definitely enough manchildren like me out there (not that I hate zoomers) to make a con like that happen.

I can agree with this with exception for under 16 with a parent or guardian PRESENT with said minor, even then they’re given the boot from the con at 7 or 8pm because cosplay parents are retarded and will deadass walk their 8 year old across Dragoncon Saturday night

I want to take my 9 year old sister to an anime convention with me so she can dress up as Chiyo (I cosplay as Osaka). (Also I'm an adult lol) I think it would be so adorable, and also fun, but I'm worried about her seeing weird stuff (although she's unfortunately already on the internet constantly so like, she can handle nerds and seeing some slutty cosplays lol.) I've never been to a an anime con before (only like, more local sci-fi or video game ones) and they were fine but anime is it's own thing. I think she'd probably have fun because she LOVES dressing up and she loves doing stuff with me, and she likes some little kid animes, but I don't want her to feel left out and I especially don't want her to see anything actual sexual or disturbing (like... Actual hentai/gore/etc). Idk, is it a bad idea to take her? She wants to go but would be okay with not going too

Just finished taking my kids to our con, 3 under 3.
The fact is weebs are growing up, so they're going to be there unless you designate areas or cons in general as 18+.
Currently they aren't designed for young kids like mine, so I find myself sequestering myself to areas where they won't bother people (lots of con goers have autism and I want to be respectful), touch their costumes, etc.
that being said, seeing people light up at our cosplays makes it worth it, and my partner and I met at that con too so it's hard not to go each year.

Why are you even on this board if you’re going to be negative and hostile against the people on it?
For my part, I don’t even go to comic cons and this is my first time ever on this specific board of 4chan. I browse other boards mostly, and saw an ad for this in the banner, and remembered pretty women use cosplaying as an excuse to dress up in hot outfits, and I just clicked here for softcore porn.
This part of the Internet baffles me, it’s common in a lot of other 4chan boards and other corners of the internet. People going there just to say, “yall suck.”

i think being a teen and going to cons is a core experience. But teens are insufferable at times, at the end of the day its just a space to be yourself. If you mean little kids middle school and under, i think parents should just protect their kids away from creeps and stuff. groups of teens as well, although I dont think a parent coming is necessary for like 15+.. Creeps target everyone.
this also goes for older female cosplayers who like allow photos like the OP to happen. I think they are creeps too and should have accountability. Parents just be smart.

If the general con space is relatively family-friendly I don't mind school-aged kids (age 5 and older) going, as long as they're well-behaved.
But babies and toddlers? Leave them home. They don't want to be there; they'll probably get cranky or overstimulated and they won't remember the experience anyway. Navigating around strollers and big-ass wagons in the dealer's hall and hearing a baby cry one booth over in the dealer's hall isn't fun for other congoers, either. They're only brought because parents don't want to take the time or spend the money to get a babysitter.

>What do you think of kids at cons?
I saw a like 3-4 year old Nezuko waddling around at a con once with her parents. She found a Shinobu plushie and kept trying to get her mom's attention to buy it for her, but her mom was yapping to some other person and couldn't hear her. It really inspired me to keep going to cons, because some day I'll have kids of my own, and I'll take them to cons with me too.

Tbh, if someone bring their kid to Cons, its their own problem, the parent should've knew about the consequences of bringing a kid into mostly Young adult to Adult place, so if they knew how to handle it imma just say its alright

No FR why the fuck are people taking literal babies to cons?? I go to Dokomi Expo almost yearly and the amount of people blocking the way with huge ass strollers are infuriating. If you can't get a sitter, then cope and don't go. Cons are already overstimulating, imagine how it is with/for a baby. That being said parent/kid cosplays are stinking adorable, saw a grandma and her grandkid dressed as old lady Sophie and calcifer once.

Cons are usually centered for comics, video games, and anime. AKA shit for kids. Unless it's explicietly an 18+ event, or something that should be (I don't know why people take kids to casinos, that shit is degenerate), why should kids be barred?
If you're walking about with your ass and half your labia sticking out, that's on you. If you don't want kids seeing something, don't do it in a kid-prone place. My local con has 18+ events, usually events that occur after 7pm.

>"oh i'm only 17"

This for the most part. I've mainly gone to larger cons to attend workshops, especially writing ones (although the quality has dipped hard and I stopped attending when some white non-binary lesbo bitch who wrote an erotica about alt-sex highschool orgies was on the panel and began lecturing about decolonizing writing). But one thing I've noticed over time is a weird juxtaposition of highly sexualized cosplayers (women) and families there, then it feels like larger businesses and corpos are slowly taking over booths. I think cons should be for adults as it seems thats the direction and kids don't have money anyways. Even then, the whole hyper-sexualized cosplayers never made sense to begin with, since it feels like a step away from full on porn/sex shit in public.
>Arcades have also turned into places mainly aimed at man children and perverts
>barcades usually kicking all the kiddies out and becoming 18+ once it gets late enough in the evening
Never been to one, but from a business perspective, adults have cash, and children are more and more growing to be less social in public. That, and third-spaces are pretty much dead and/or moved online.
>always been a space primarily for manchildrein and whatever the equivalent for women is
The ones I've been to have almost become hot beds for sjw-types of shit. Sure they got manchildren, but I've been more annoyed at the finger waving faggots who won't shut up. Then again, I mainly went for the workshops.

Fun fact: In the US in the 60s and 70s, they required boys to swim fully naked at the YMCA and they let boys' mothers and female siblings spectate. Schools also required this but it was in single-sex classes but when classes became co-ed, they continued to have boys swim fully naked with girls in one piece swimsuits in co-ed swim classes for a few years before they started letting boys wear swimsuits.

Cons should be 18+, honestly. Lots of NSFW artists, VERY skimpy cosplays, and just general gooner behavior. Not sure why they haven't went 18+ yet.
>>
Its the parents that are more annoying than anything with trying to get pics that the kids just honestly dont care for, neither do I really want to be having my pic taken with kids even if my cosplays are always sfw. Cosplayers arent quirky props for your photo reel, we're people trying to have a fun time, and probably so are their kids.

> Anon posts on the most coomer website outside of porn
Most people going to cons are degens already. In fact, most people are degens.
Ergo, there really shouldn't be any families going to anime cons when the majority of the people attending are just single people or couples wearing skimpy clothes.

This happened yesterday at katsu.
>10pm, clearly time for slutty outfits to start coming out.
>With my friends, walking around. All od us Wearing a somewhat adult outfits.
>Some mom and her kid ask for a photo with me.
>Agree because the kid said his name was the same as my character.
>Suddenly 5 other kids come out of the woodwork, youngest one being like 3 years old, and start clambering to be in the photo.
>3 of them are touching me.
>One of them grabs my inner thigh.
>Nope out of there.
What. The. Fuck.
>>
I say let kids attend Anime conventions. I don't get you fucking weirdos with your hatred for kids other than the fact nobody wants to have children with you BPDemoms and degen males or you're still traumatized by some normies kids mocking you for playing dress up or because you're autistic.
Keep the skimpy slutty cosplays for nighttime shit when there aren't any kids.

>ven then, the whole hyper-sexualized cosplayers never made sense to begin with, since it feels like a step away from full on porn/sex shit in public.
I mean, cons have always been kinda freaky. What annoys me is that 99.9% of sexualized cosplay these days is just girls advertising their onlyfans. Used to be a girl at a con in a slutty costume was probably either an exhibitionist getting off or a hornygirl who actually wanted to get fucked that night and I can respect that, shit if I could dress up in an outfit that made every girl that saw me wet I'd probably do it too, and shit, a lot of us older guys in the con scene would probably be way less adjusted and experienced if it weren't for slutty cosplayers. I hate that now it's all fake and done for profit.
