We're once again approaching the time for AWA. Anyone here going? Any interesting cosplays you're working on? Will there be a /cgl/ meetup? Dates are December 18th through December 21st, 2025, located at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building C.

I'll be hosting a panel as well. God willing you will get your cosplay gf this year. Hopefully she isn't a trap.

Spoiler Alert. Me and a friend usually come up with and submit a bunch stuff, this was one of his. We're gonna talk about how spoilers affect how much you enjoy shows and talk about some good/bad/well known spoilers.

Anyone in connection with leadership know if it's going to be as barren last year.
I'm still going no matter, would be silly to skip considering I live like 20miles away.
I understand it's a new space, but they used like 5% of it...

Both due to the holidays and the fact I'm barely starting a new job I'm not going to awa this year. Me and Pikachu have been around handing out instant photos for awhile now. It's fun and I meet lots of nice people

Like anon meetup or general con thing? I'm also looking for cosplay frens, I'm from South Florida but might go to AWA.
Do you have a burner discord or something so I can add you?

The Signia is great, and even though hall B is bigger, hall C worked last year. I plan on cosplaying at least one day. Usually I attend a lot of interesting panels. Well, it's debatable whether or not they are interesting, but I do check out quite a few.
>>
They must have blown their load getting Hololive last year because all of these vtubers they've been announcing, I've never even heard of.
I'll be there, still trying to decide on pulling the trigger on a cosplay I'm thinking about doing. The Galleria mogs the WCC but AWA is still my favorite convention.

Have a friend on staff this year and heard they're planning to make much better use of the space since they've realized how much more real estate they can fuck with now. Don't know how it'll work out but I'll be there regardless because I got nothing else to do.

It's only the second year at the current venue so it's all probably still finding solid footing although more solid than last year. I thought the artist ally was fine last year but a few people were ass destroyed about the setup for some reason. Cosplay was great ever since when I started going every year since 2015. That said I liked the old venue way more, but if it's your first time you'll enjoy it well enough.

You'll need to venture a couple of blocks out for decently priced liquor but all of the hotels have bars and the Signia has a club add-on for a lounge with unlimited drinks between 5-7 PM
Everything in walking distance is expensive so if you want to party as a poorfag you'll need to hit the room parties

Gaming isn't as good as more gaming centric cons like Momocon but the artist alley and cosplay scene are both awesome at AWA.

We've done this for AWA last year and Momo earlier this year. Highly recommend. You don't need to worry about food either.

Go to the Residence Inn nearby, still a lot of rooms open, good prices and not too far of a walk. No need to get hysterical that you don’t have a host hotel, lots of good places nearby, basically the same thing.

Getting charged $25 everyday and if you stay longer than 12 hours you get charge another $25. You're paying for a whole nother con again just parking. And on the final day they closed all of the parking decks around the stadium because there was another event going on while AWA was still going on. So I had to park in the ghetto and hope my car didn't get broken in.

We have a different panel this year since neither of us thought we'd get a new Ace Combat so soon, we were just saying last night we'll have to try to get an updated version of the panel at either Momocon or next years AWA

Holy shit this makes the $28/day garage look cheap. I've been spoiled by living out in the countryside where anything more than free is highway robbery. Oh well. At least I've got my hotel covered with points. Wish I could have hit the con today but the storm and crashes on i-95 left me fuckin exhausted.
Also, anyone know if they've got extra wig caps at the cosplay repair station?

No I decided to only go on Saturday since i I'm at the point of frustration with how this location operates. The multi day pass is cheaper, but it still doesn't beat the previous location by Cumberland mall one bit.

My boys back home hopped on discord and I was like "this MIGHT be peak, especially since I won't be able to play for the next month because of travel"
It was pretty fun, but I imagine this is why I don't get any girls.

Does anyone think the dress code should be more enforced at AWA? Some women were walking around damn near butt ass naked. Not really sure what the purpose of that is since they don't want attention from incels and old dudes..

I can’t even lie dude I just got so horny that I eventually just fucked a dude. Not even a tranny or a femboy or anything. Just a dude. Everything was fine until he sucked me and I felt the beard hairs tickling me. Will never forget it or live that down.
>>
>>10963388
I heard some dude got arrested. Anything else crazy happen? I couldn't make it this year.
Last year (dec 2024), there was this little niglet going around the hotel restuarants trying to sell "snacks" to "help the kids". Obviously a scam, but it was fucking hilarious how he would just walk up to tables and plop his shit down on top of their plates as they were eating.

Nah i specifically saw what looked like 3 cops talking to someone. During daytime. It was posted on the various facebook groups.
I wasn't there so i couldn't figure out what was going on.
Last Portcon (maine) I saw like 5 cruisers pull up and arrest some dude right outside of the rave. I'm guessing he was selling drugs. Which is weird, since Portcon is such a small and low-key event, i doubt anyone would actually make any money trying to peddle stuff that wasn't weed there.
Pic related for AWA. From the public FB page.

>Atlanta turned out to be a shithole, who knew,
Yes. Absolutely DO NOT venture more than a quarter mile from the con center for any reason at all. I made that mistake last year looking for some shit to fix a cosplay and spent 2 hours in ghettoland where no ubers would pick up.

Not sure of context but there were EMTs outside the center around like 3:45 on Friday when I was grabbing food. Lights were on the whole time up through leaving so someone definitely was getting taken away.
>>10966111
Yeah I didn't plan on leaving the GWCC area at all until my group wanted Waffle House on Sunday morning. Only city I've ever been in where a business had its own assigned sheriff patrolling the place. Wild.
>>
>>10966119
Yeah it seems like “family friendly” has won out with audiences, organizers, and marketers. At least so long as the “family friendly” is also LGBTQ friendly, and that community seems willing to accept the censorship.

Nah, the commoditization of anime fandoms has made it so ethots and tourist sluts roam plenty. But there were always some hot actual nerdy girls around in cute outfits.
I know zoomers haven't been to many cons, but it's okay if people are allowed to show a little more skin.
Sadly I see many of the young dudes practicing their shariah law and wanting women to cover those ankles up.
>>
>>10966117
Yeah I had a group but most of them took the suits off after a few hours.
>>10966122
nya? Either way you were at the Signia lobby so ball knowledge.
>>10966144
lol that's pretty funny
>>
>>10966283
its not that. its the weird horseshoe that happened in the last 10 or so years.
Cons used to be the place of counter culture, including the risque` because the conservative prudes who noticed anime would have moral panic/dismissal as cartoon porns. There was a sexual liberation bend to it.
Then, it became a war on the conventionally attractive, at least when it comes to females for being sexist/misogynistic/patriarchal fantasy fulfillment. males had a different problem.
