normally i hate oven fries that aren't waffle fries, but these fuckers are pretty good in the air fryer.

they put something on these fries that gives them a different texture. when they're fresh out of the air fryer it really gets close to emulating the taste and texture of a deep fried french fry. after they've sat for 5-10 mins they're still good but you can tell its an oven fry.

i make most of my meals from scratch but i don't like deep frying at home because its tedious, easy to fuck up, risk of fires/burns and wasteful with oil if you don't deep fry a lot of food.
why would i go to all the effort to make my own fries from scratch if they're going to get thrown in the oven (air fryer) anyways? a huge bag of these is $5 at costco.

It also makes them worse in a deep fry. Just pointing out that if the bag says something like "best in the air fryer!" or "recipe changed for air fryer", do not deep fry. Idk what the change was exactly, but they always taste off/more starchy.

for my air fryer they're like 18 min for a full tray of them at 400 no preheat, they come out perfect. the cheapest i can regularly get fries is like $2.89 for between 24-32oz depending on the type of fry. these are i think 5.69 at costco.

the best frozen fries I have had were unbranded skin on chipped potatoes in a clear plastic bag from Grocery Outlet. they don't have them consistently unfortunately. they weren't called chipped potatoes either but I can't remember what they were called and that's the closest word I can think of for what they were.
