I fully get furries and gays being into him, but really, were any kids actually into Snagglepuss when his show was airing? Maybe they tolerated him as the only cartoon on while watching for the other HB guys' segments, but I cannot imagine some kid in the 60s being hyped to watch Snagglepuss.

There were only three television channels. You watched it because it was on.
>>
>>152652621
Yeah that was what I was alluding to.
Did any kid actually like this or did they only tolerate it since it was the only cartoon on and others would be on soon?

There was a Cartoon Network Election in 2000 where the viewers voted for their favorite characters and Snagglepuss placed dead last.

How the hell did Snagglepuss fall below Michigan J. Frog? He doesn’t do anything!

>>152653348
>Scooby has a large drawing asking kids to vote for him
>Of course kids are going to vote for the most prominent character who is the only one asking to vote for him
>Scooby is in the fucking logo
The game was rigged from the start

He was the mascot of Kids WB at the time.
>>
>>152653348
It's not that snagglepuss had a likeability problem, his policies just didn't resonate with the average American at the time.
>>
>>152653431
He totally does stuff, I swear. You're just not looking when it happens.

Americans will never vote for a Pinko.

How is Augie Doggie the best performing HB character? He’s ahead of Batman!

>>152653493
The Pete Buttgag of the 60s

>>152653503
Fred Flintstone is higher. Don't really have an answer about Batman's place though.

Almost like real life politicians.

Cartoon Network in the late '90s/early 2000s was on a completely different level creatively. Not just the shows but the bumpers and everything. It had a really irreverent and hip style that Nick and especially Disney couldn't match and the people involved in the network seemed to have the freedom to just do really creative stuff like Toonami's music videos, the Best Place for Cartoons bumpers, Night of the Living Doo or the Scooby-Doo Project and whatnot.

2nd highest and highest animal HB character is still crazy. Was Augie in anything post Yogi's Gang or whatever?

Batman I guess is due to him not being in any movies in that time and BTAS ended a year prior with Justice League wouldn't be out for another so he just was in a brief lapse in culture.

>>152652587
He looks like the Pink Panther's cousin.

>Despite Scooby-Doo emerging as the victor, when the gimmick was done again in 2004, its commercials stated Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy as the current "president". It was suggested that Scooby-Doo resigned before the 2004 campaign.
Scooby Doo Watergate?

>>152652587
Where do you think the furries and gays came from?
>>
>>152652587
Apparently he was a parody of Bert Lahr (actor from the Golden Age of Hollywood), so it is a reference lost on most people nowadays

I would totally fuck him up the ass

>Multiple "?" Entries
Huh?

Those results aren't recorded but they have to have been Quick Draw McGraw, Magilla Gorilla, Huckleberry Hound, and Gossamer in each of those slots.

A lot of old cartoon characters are parodies of old actors.
>>
Snag is cute.
>>
>>152666420
I agree! Snagglepuss is VERY cute!
>>
He takes so much Huckleberry cock
>>
I grew up in the 80's, and while Snagglepuss wasn't my favorite, I was about as fond of him as any other HB character. His flamboyance made him stand out a bit, which is important since HB cartoons were all so similar.
>>
>>152669173
The fur texture is all wrong.

>were any kids actually into Snagglepuss when his show was airing
I mean, I grew up in the 80's, so they were re-runs, but Snagglepuss was among the Hanna Barbera crew that I could tolerate. I preferred Top Cat, though. And no, I'm not Mexican.

Same here, but also in that time frame, we had the remixes, like Laff-a-Lympics and Yo Yogi! (remember those?), and they all featured Snag as one of the main characters, so I think he's more popular than the average person might think. I think the HB cartoons I watched the most were :
Yogi Bear
Grape Ape
Snagglepuss
Pixie Dixie & Mr. Jinx
Huckleberry Hound
Captain Caveman

Though, to be fair, I watched a LOT of TV as a kid.
>>
>>152672942
I liked Wally Gator, Quickdraw McGraw, and Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy too. Jabberjaw and Captain Caveman were the only Scooby Doo clones I could stand.

>>
>>152659108
What's a megatroid?
>>
>>152672960
I remember having a nightmare about Jabberjaw when I was little. He was chasing me, Shaggy, and Scooby in that endless way that HB is known for, except that instead of being his regular colors, he was covered in shifting psychedelic patterns, he was swimming through the air, and he was slowly gaining on us. Finally, we turned a corner, and I looked back, only to find that he had bitten Shaggy and Scooby, and they were now also covered in psychedelic patterns, and with a horrific look on their faces, they all started chasing me. I woke up just before they got me. Note: I was too young to have seen a zombie movie at the time, so that couldn't have inspired it.

Robot hemherroids. Famously first passed from the Decepticon leader, Megatron, to his fuckboy, Megaman. The scourge of this disease is the only reason humanity survived Judgement day and didn't get turned into Matrix batteries. So, we give thanks to those hemherroids by intoning Snagglepuss' favorite saying.
>>
>>152675316
(but for a serious answer, it was an expression used by Bert Lahr, the guy who played the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, whose vocal mannerisms are what inspired Snagglepuss' character. The meaning of the saying is just an expression of dismay, like Heavens to Betsy!, except that Lahr randomly used the surname 'Murgatroyd' instead of Betsy.)
>>
>>152656951
I only know Bert Lahr from the Wizard of Oz.
>>
>>152672744
Same, but in the 90's for me.
>>

3rd highest and 2nd highest animal HB character.
Scooby Doo is number 1.
>>
>>152675599
4th/5th actually, space ghost and brak ranked higher
>>
>>152653348
This is actually the ranking from biggest top to biggest bottom
>>
>>152652587
I remember when he was made gay in some comic and people acted like some beloved character was desecrated
>>
Remember when he first appeared before he got his show and was orange?
Did he dye his fur pink? Is it like dyeing your hair in the HBverse?
>>
He has a gf you know
>>
>>152676832
I felt outraged more from how they picked someone nobody cares about as they maybe felt like they could do whatever they wanted, knowing that no one would get angry (the kind of people you mention don't count). The gall to do that because they wouldn't aim higher.

I don't.
>>
>is a male lion
>has no mane
Is it because he's effeminate?
>>
>>152659051
lolol
>>
As a kid I liked his voice, but I am a bit gay now...
>>
>>152682187
I liked it, too, but I'm still straight. I guess you can like it in different ways. I just found it fun and silly.
>>
>>152679230
Soft
It’s limited animation, they did not have the budget to draw details like a rough tongue
>>
>>152683153
That's an interesting assumption, but by the same logic, if they don't have the budget to draw the blood vessels and nervous system, shouldn't everyone be dead?
Not trying to oppose the idea of a soft tongue, I just think there are easier explanations. Just have him say he had tongue thhurgery. De-barbification, evennn!
>>
>>152679230
>>152683153
> My tongue, rough?
>Heavens to murgatroyd, there ain't nothing rough about me. I'll be gentle like, real gentle. Like a newborn kitten suckling his mother even. I'll let you squeeze my soft hips as you give me a one, and a two! Then I'll clean you off like a kid looking for the center of a tootsie pop. I'm harmless, like real tame, bottom of the bottoms, and a tight one too!
>Let me be your little stage hand, or mouth or rump. I've been practicing my oral delivery, and I'm ready to swallow your gratitude. And cuddle afterwards even.
