It was enjoyable but the moral was fucked.
>Mabel and the mayor were just as bad as each other!
Uh, no? Mabel had anger issues, but she tried the diplomatic route of doing a petition and nobody gave a shit. Meanwhile the mayor was going to nuke the animal habitat with fucking dynamite! Get bent with that messaging.

Isn't it just NIMBY: The Movie?
>>
>>152656293
Wasn't all that amazing but I did enjoy it more than I thought I would. Mayor was pretty based, I liekd him. Shame he didn't stay as a beaver for long, I really liked his design
Anyway I put a lewd request on /aco/ for Mabel, hope someone picks it up

You won't get engagement for several hours yet anon, mutts are only just heading to the theatre in their timezone.

I'm sure you had a blast, shill. But we know the story of this trash and it's garbage

Pixar has fallen so far, man.
>>
bros, will I enjoy it if I didn't like Turning Red? there's tickets available in 3 hours for me.
>>
>>152658873
It has literally no resemblance to Turning Red other than the lead being Asian. It's also ten times funnier and has a better climax. Give it a go.
>>
>>152658873
Yes, it's very different to that.
The character designs and overall animation are very good, as expected from the We Bare Bears creator.
>>152658819
It's only barely midday in most of USA, people commenting are from other countries also lucky enough to get prescreenings.
>>
So is it like Avatar, or does the consciousness get transferred into the robot?
>>
>>152656304
>Mabel wanted to preserve the area because it was where she spent time with her grandmother
>In the one scene shown from the Mayor's perspective, he's shown to be taking care of his mother
Their motivations for doing what they do are both out of what choice will let them care or honor their beloved elder. They are more alike than you think, the movie is more morally gray than you want it to be, and I for one like that.
>>
Is this like SOMA?

Just got out. Robot Mayor Titus is going to be to females what Pawbert is to gay furries.

>>
>>152661575

>>
>>152656304
It's about the downward spiral. Both Mabel and Jerry kept going more extreme, to the point where they were causing active harm. You need to distance it a bit from the capitalist set dressing to get it. It's a man v man story disguised as a man v society.
Also nobody else in town had a problem with the highway so it made Mabel seem really out of touch with the needs of the town. Highways don't just get built for fun, they cost millions of dollars and use labor that could be redirected elsewhere. From what we know the town actually wanted it to be built and they loved Jerry for finally "getting things done". Mabel's also like that when she frees the pets at the beginning as if they aren't going to instantly die the moment they realize they can't hunt for shit.
>>
>>152656304
>>152660561
Having similarities doesn’t make them the same. That’s the point. They have something in common but valued different things, making different choices.

>Mabel Tanaka, 19-year-old activist full of fire, decides to confront mayor directly, arms herself with portfolio of photos, reports, petitions
>heads to mayor Jerry office in city hall, building shiny glass, polished hallways contrasting wild nature she defends
>enters office with determination, tries to stay composed
>Jerry, 50-year-old in impeccable suit, fake smile "Miss Tanaka, I've heard of your efforts. Take a seat. How can I help?"
>Mabel sits at wide mahogany desk, spreads documents "Mayor jerry, I protest the freeway construction in the glade, This forest is vital ecosystem, beavers, deer, birds all destroyed for unneeded road, Evidence shows impact on local water, increased erosion"
>Jerry leans back, fingers interlaced "I understand your concern, Mabel, But progress necessary, freeway connects neighborhoods, creates jobs, boosts economy"
>discussion starts civilized, Mabel argues with biodiversity data, cites experts, shows Hoppers photos
>Jerry counters with economic figures, taxes, community benefits "Look, young lady, world doesn't stop for a few animals, People need to move, work"
>tone changes soon
>Mabel feels not taken seriously, condescending responses "This isn't just animals! It's our legacy for future generations, You see dollars, not lives"
>Jerry frowns, patience gone "And you see trees and beavers, ignore families needing jobs, Think protesting with signs changes anything? You're naive, kid"
>word "kid" sparks it, Mabel stands, slams desk "Don't call me kid! I'm adult defending what you destroy for greed, You're corrupt, nature destroyer disguised as leader"
>>
>>152667732
>Jerry stands too, face red "And you're meddling idealist who doesn't get real world!, Think university campaigns stop progress? You're ridiculous, brat with hippie dreams!"
>insults escalate, Mabel calls him "urban tyrant", "sold out to builders", Jerry replies "eco-terrorist", "ignorant little girl"
>room fills with shouts, angry gestures, flying accusations
>peak fury, Jerry circles desk to face her, Mabel doesn't back down, faces inches apart, heavy breaths, eyes blazing rage
>tension shifts, aggressive charge turns electric, Jerry grabs shoulders, pulls her close
>Mabel impulsively kisses hard, bites lower lip in anger-desire mix "Damn you!" hands tug his tie
>Jerry responds fiercely, lifts her onto desk, sweeps papers, pens to floor "You're crazy, but damn, you turn me on" unbuttons her blouse with shaky hands
>Mabel removes his jacket, rips shirt buttons, reveals mature firm torso, bodies clash urgently, insults turn moans "Corrupt idiot"
>she gasps as he kisses neck, down young firm chest, argument goes primal
>Jerry enters her on desk, hard passionate thrusts, furniture creaks under them
>Mabel scratches back, shouts curses mixed pleasure "You destroy everything you touch... but don't stop!"
>he thrusts harder, whispers "Little rebel, I'll tame you"
>climax hits in tension release explosion, both collapse on desk, sweaty exhausted
>minutes later, post-coital silence
>Jerry adjusts clothes, looks with regret-admiration mix "This changes nothing about the freeway"
>voice lacks conviction
>Mabel recomposes, sly smile "Maybe not, but now I know how to negotiate with you", leaves office with personal victory.

Yeah, the moral definitely feels like a product of the 90s wherer "we all need to work together and support one another" still seemed like a reasonable belief before we were forced to accept that it really is just a matter of us vs them and we straight up need to tell the billionaire industrialists and grasping politicians destroying everything for profit to fuck off and die

The movie was funny, but the overall story was pathetically weak. They give too much grace to the politician actively trying to destroy nature without giving him no depth. This shit ain't Princess Mononoke no matter how many ghibli raising hair scenes Mabel has.

>>152676702
Highway is being built through some woods. Main character girl wants to stop it because she has an emotional connection to that particular bit of woods. Becomes beaver, accidentally convinces animals to kill the mayor who is pushing the highway project
>>
>>152676702
In short
>Evil mayor wants to demolish the nearby forest and build a freeway, citing the lack of animals found in the forest.
>Mabel puts her mind into a robotic beaver to help her track down the animals.
>All the animals are hiding in the beaver's dam because the mayor set up speakers that play high frequency white noise to chase the animals away.
>Mabel destroys the speakers for the animals, inspiring them to launch an attack on the city in revenge.
>Mabel is revealed to be a human in disguise when she accidently crushes 'the insect queen' and chased away from the dam.
>Mabel and her animal friends track down the mayor and rescue him from the attacking animals, and learn that the 'Insect King' is planning to put his mind into a robotic mayor, set up speakers at an upcoming rally, and use sound waves to blow up everyone's heads.
>Everyone comes together to stop the robot double, causing a fire in the process; which makes the beavers destroy their dam to stop the destruction of the woods.
>The mayor, inspired by the beauty of nature, agrees to turn the woods into a wildlife sanctuary.
