He is mainly disliked by a vocal group of autistic people for changing characters in ways that bothered them (autistic people are often uncomfortable with or hostile towards change). Obviously a lot of comic book fans are autistic, but from DC's perspective it is good to publish things that reach a wider audience and appeal to normal people.
