We dont really know how much of the show is John's. We know he did some character designs and not many have surfaced online and what has surfaced isnt scanned at a very high resolution.

Though I could see him doing the girls. One is essentially a space slut from the planet slut and another is just mouths for.blow jobs.

TMS is extremely easy to work with, the problem is that they're one of 2 studios that still forces package shows (the other one being Toei), meaning if you want Galaxy High you also have to take Gamba No Bouken and The Gutsy Frog with it, and since those shows do not have a English dub they also have to hire someone like Bang Zoom to produce a new English dub for those shows, and that just adds on to the cost so Galaxy High isn't worth it any more.

You really overestimate how large the market for this is. Animes like this tend to air somewhere between 00:00 and 02:00 a.m. because they cannot afford to air them anywhen else. They are aiming to get the attention of a few whales who can afford staying up this late and are willing enough to waste hundreds or even tousands of dollars (whatever the exchange rate for yen is) for ghe overpriced merchandise.
Besides maybe vanilla stuff like Elfs the mainstream romance in Japan is fairly conventional usually, hence why in Harem Animes the ,,boring vanilla" girl usually triumphs over the other archetypes.

Related or not, I think a Galaxy High School and Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome. Maybe after Ataru wins the game of tag, it leads to an opening to Earth students going to other planets to study and Doyle and Aimee just happened to be a few of the chosen ones. Imagine the aliens(including Aimee and Doyle) from Galaxy High School winding up in the mishaps and adventures caused by the UY cast, like Ataru stealing a love potion from another planet and it lands on Flutor and there's a race to procure it. One good thing about toy driven shows is that everyone is thinking about what the viewer wants. They have to, or the toys and shirts and backpacks, etc dont sell.
