Not the other anon, but I think it's a good touch. The wig really helps to sell the change and also further distances herself from Clark. She has to go x-amount of more steps to maintain a secret identity instead of JUST doing what he has to do because she's otherwise just that much more recognizable in and out of her Powergirl suit than Clark is as Superman.

I could see that. Not just because of her figure-she's basically an amazon in a suit-but also because her job as a CEO puts her in the public eye. But I can't help but feel that trying to distinguish Karen Starr from Power Girl in such a way artificializes that identity; she becomes more of a second costume instead of another aspect of her.

I don't see anything wrong with that. It WOULD be artificial. It'd have to be something she'd really have to work at being because not only is she an extra terrestrial alien, she's a extra dimensional alien. She's almost basically from two different worlds so there aught to be that kind of 'it's not an extension' part of it for her. She can't be Kara in the open anymore because Supergirl is already there so Karen Starr really should just someshit she made up.

Even after CoIE, she was still Karen Starr and made a genuine effort to reclaim and re-establish that identity after Infinite Crisis. I'd say it's clear she has some kind of attachment to that identity beyond just being a cover/name

I first encountered Power Girl in the Batman/Superman: Public Enemies animated film. I remember think "Why are her boobs so big? And what's with the hole?" Since then, I've come to understand why she has those milkers, but I've read lots more with her. I'm a big fan of her stuff in JSA by Johns. Great character work that doesn't just make her something to look at. She is a total badass and is the exact inspiration Hawkgirl and Stargirl need.

It was dumb of Leah's editor to say "don't read anything previous." That was a complete shot in the foot. If I were in charge, I would have done some fun stories about Power Girl just living a normal life. Again, much like the Conner stuff. They set a solid foundation and they should just build on it.

Because her book got canned, maybe Lemire will add her to JSA again. I don't honestly know, but I do hope other writers learn from the Williams run and just let her be an adverage, sexy blonde. Maybe if they get a decent writer, they can actually create a solid romance for her.

Editorial don’t care. And I imagine Powergirl is not someone the editor group finds critical for the company.

Meanwhile Supergirl’s recent writer did tons of research of previous Supergirl series. And it’s the same editors that Powergirl had.

It just shows you that Supergirl, household name with a movie coming out, is higher in importance to the company and has more editor oversight.

I think power girl peak was from 2005 to 2011 with that long ongoing and she leading jsa all starts.

That's unfortunate. I'm 99% certain the only reason PG got a new run-and indeed, why she was even brought back at all-was to fill in for Supergirl until she could make her DCU debut. It's also why her connection to Superman and his family took precedence over everything else and why the book survived as long as it did.

If there's a silver lining to all this, it's that Williams' run was an anomaly. It's been pretty much ignored and other writers are instead depicting with her usual characterization. I'd be fine with a future writer just handwaving that run as non-canon and restoring the pre-New 52 status quo.

That story was very funny, but opening it on the guy's planet explaining what his motivation was is a terrible idea that ruins what could be a slowly unfolding story that gets weirder but somehow also "nicer".

A while back during one of those redraw fads, it was from a video game I think, asking the viewer to kiss someone or whatever, there was a version done with PG
