The Oneyplays guys are just like that. The main Oney guy hyped up a "finale" to one of his let's plays for a year before mentioning that it's cancelled on a stream, not even officially. They think everything works like the internet and that cancelling a commercial project means everyone goes back to doing solo work and day jobs.

>If this is seriously about that christmas joke then that is not okay
It is almost definitely about that with how quickly they changed their minds. It'll keep happening until you rise up against your masters

It’s completely normal to announce a sudden cancellation and then do one thing each day to attract the internet’s attention to it while the threads about that particular show naturally explode with asshole behavior wdym

Unless they got all the animation crew in on it, it's probably legit (unless they're also being fooled).
I think the actual reason so many still think it's a prank has less to do with Zach's "reputation" and more to do with the fact that ending a popular show just three seasons in after getting renewed for two more is absolutely insane and honestly a bit pathetic. Hell, considering how short these seasons are , 5 isn't really enough.
My bet is that it's legit but they'll return in like, 4-5 years.
That said, I'd argue that their reputations would be tanked more if this was a weird prank than if it wasn't. Only real payoff a cancellation scare would have if they're going to announce something far bigger, like a movie.
Every SF related prank had some sort of reward for the audience. The pilot itself airing on April 1, the entire first season airing on the series premiere despite scheduling saying otherwise, and the really cool puppet remakes alongside Gwimbly.

This fucking cartoon is another goddamn 10 minute short compilation being sold as FULL FLEDGE EPISODES, and even the pacing feels speed up and on crack, like the whole video is at 2x speed, if not more, and considering seasons are short with less then 8 episodes seemingly so, like jesus, the entire series is just the equivalent of 12 full 20 minute episodes with residuals.

Yeah, I can't see this being a prank because the payoff just isn't there. They haven't even tried a 22 minute special yet and we know they're not ready for a movie, they've said so themselves how they were just getting comfortable with writing structure and characterization in season 3.

Smiling Friends fans do. Expect them to freak out over this for the next few weeks, at least until the final two episodes premiere.

It's been fascinating to see the copium dwindle more and more among the fandom with each passing day. This isn't a bit, guys.

Yeah this is something fishy. There's no reason for them to scrub smiling friends off their websites. If the show is ending just because mach and zach got tired, there's no reason to have to "cleanse" it.
Someone is probably gonna throw allegations at someone publically pretty soon

That's not how it works. If they were able to have smiling friends characters on the website as a showcase of "hey, we worked on this", it means they already had a contract in which they were allowed to use the fact they worked on the show as advertising on the studio.
You don't lose your right to advertise having worked on something unless ur forced to a NDA.
