Same as crying over AI "stealing" your art.
Nigga literally all social networks terms of use say that you lose the ownership of everything you upload on them.

Blitz is pretty dumb on an strategy game and ruins a lot of the fun to me, but is standard on a lot of tournaments.
I think chess is pretty lame because how rigid it is, maybe is more fun if you actually study the plays, but I can't be arsed about that.

There really isn’t a good excuse for an indie artist studio not to question the copyright owner when tracing someone else’s work because they know better and their brand story is about supporting independent artists. It’s just naivete and love for references causing to overlook that memes are created by someone, likely someone in your audience. They could have asked. It’s not a big deal though.

>Turn the indie animation industry into a monopoly
>Harass Gooseworx, the creator of Glitch's golden goose, into leaving the internet
>Rip-off Disney
>Steal art from fans
I am actively hoping for Glitch's downfall.

AI art and the ai tech bubble is another discussion entirely
However an Artist that is fine with people just watching and enjoying their art is the correct kind of mentality that should be more common online
Just knowing someone out there is even bothering to interact with your art, be it making a meme edit, porn of your original character, or even fan art on their own is a something that should be enough to satisfy an artist
Someone taking it to feed a machine for their own profit isn't satisfying for anyone except the AI bro who thinks he's hot shit for evaporating an entire lake worth of RAM to crap out a thing they don't even care that much about

>Nigga literally all social networks terms of use say that you lose the ownership of everything you upload on them.
That's not how that works. The social media sites can use what you post but other users can't. This is why you can't just upload another YouTubers video on YouTube and plagerism can actually get you sued if a person is determined enough. It's also why the original creator of pepe was able to go after people profiting on it. Memes just run on the fact people are usually good natured enough to allow people to remix and repost and no one is making serious money from it The minute you try to make a big profit of it people can and will sue you if they have a strong enough claim.
Where are people getting the silly idea that something upload online automatically becomes public domain. I am curious, who is spreading this misinformation?

This has nothing to do with the nonsense idea that copyright doesn't count if you post something on Twitter
This is a derivative work that is unique and transformative. It falls under fair use.

He wants a payout since they're popular. It's not even his own meme, it's a parody of old emoji images and other artists have been selling commisions of similar characters before.

Case in point about the other artist selling commisions. I get they all want to backstab each other for a buck but this is getting dangerously greedy.

Yeah I've seen this kind of thing a surprising amount of times. Even retarded shit like people taking a screencap of a cartoon and selling "YCH" edits of it.
Furfags will buy anything for clout, I swear.
>>
>>152669647
on one hand it sucks that glitch didn't ask and literally just threw the hair & dress on without otherwise redrawing it like other artists do, but on the other it's a free sticker set and a literal meme scribble that has been stolen/reposted/sold by hundreds of other artists and accounts, if it were me i wouldn't give a shit at this point.

Glitch is a studio that has multimillion dollar deals with Netflix and Amazon. Someone was paid to draw the art for this sticker set, and some company was paid to print it. Even though it's a "free" product, it's being used as an incentive to buy other products.
It's different than some small internet artist with sub-1k subs charging $5 for custom Twitch emotes.

lotta small creators keep trying to make a job of what was once fun for them and turn themselves into marketers and shit, be they artists or modders or songmakers or fucking whatever now
it's one thing to like donations or turn a huge project into a paid thing, but then you have fuckers that spam shit relentlessly for no other reason than to make money and a name for themself to make money and/or get caught up in the nickle-and-diming policing of little stuff like OP
>>
>>
>>152671304
Anon, the $5 emotes are to also plug their commission page for similar sales and superchats. It's literally exactly what Glitch markets itself as too. There's many problems with Knights of Guinevere but this is just parasitic clout chasing at it's finest.
>>
>>152671108
if it was me, i would either discreetly email them to try to squeeze some royalties out of them, or publically post about how i was happy my meme was on [popular product] to try and catch some stray followers. not whine about it in public

What? I knew they were that big, but they're big enough to do deals with Netflix and Amazon? TADC and MD must've made them more money than I'd thought.

I knew they had stuff on Netflix, but I didn't think the contract would be in the millions...
Wait a minute, if they're spending millions on cartoons, and working with giants like Netflix and Amazon, then are they really a indie studio anymore?
>>
>>152671683
They are indie, but AA in lenght, it would be easier if fags used didn't use the former like the latter in latter terms, doesn't help that "indie" companies love to use their "indie" status, like they don't have enough money to fund someone 20 generations.

The artist was clearly influenced by previous emoji memes so I don't know why they're being so pissy about Glitch doing a parody of theirs. I guess it's because it's socially acceptable to make a stink about it if a big company is doing it instead of a bunch of 14 year olds on Vgen and Twitter.

...funny enough they could have hired this person for pennies and they would have been overjoyed at the thought fo working for glitch. Then they would be able to sell all these legally and turn a significant profit off someone's work...and all for slightly above minimum wage.
