It has been annoying watching the TADC fandom flagellate itself into a bloody pile for the unique evil of being like every other fandom that has or will exist. So yes I'm happy gooseworx is taking responsibility for her own mental health and discouraging this silliness.

Has there EVER been an instance where communication with the fandom during the production of an intellectual property has been for the best? I can not remember any time ever where talking and communication with the fans is anything but horrible. It's one thing to put on a mask and have the king pretend to be a pauper and post on an alt or something.... But for you to be the creator, the fans know and then you talk with them? Never ever ever good in any way ever.

>Stupid autists screech at you
>"I'm going to tank my art on purpose I hate my fans."
>Autists and children express support and condemn the people who bitched.
>"This also makes me upset :("
Does he just not understand what posting as a professional means?

remind me to go absolutely zero engagement with fans if I ever make something like a cartoon or comic or game or something. I only ever see innocuous shit being blown out of proportion by autists or the creator being turned into a heckin' wholesome quirk chungus sillyman, with zero inbetween

It's heavily dependent on the IP.
What I've noticed more and more is that when I watch any property made after 2019-ish, there's a notable change in how growing up in fandom culture has changed how writers write.
For instance, moments that used to be designed for interpretation are now moreso in the realm of being designed to bait fan fiction.

You know.
The worst part is the more you think about it the more you can sum up how this kind of shit is destined to happen on the current model
The only way to keep your show going is to make it a merchandise factory, the only way to do that is to attach the audience to your characters as quickly as humanly possible, you need to bait the dimensions and backstory of every character as well as their potential arc in the span of a few episodes. You need to bait ships, you need to bait theories, you need to bait everything the audience needs to churn out discussion, art, and fics.
Compare that to ensemble cast properties of the past where you could gladly wait entire seasons before certain members got increased spotlight.
But the problem with baiting the audience is you baited the audience.
So now, people feel swindled. Arcs that were hinted at weren't actually explored, bitter shipping wars start because you fueled every battleship, theories are treated as canon and it is demanded you follow through on the mystery box.
There's just no winning.
To give an example.
If Star Trek were written today, Journey To Babel would be mid season instead of S2E10 .
In that episode, we get a new side to Spock meant to let us reinterpret his cold logical nature as more emotional than he ever let on as we learn his backstory, meet his parents, and learn he's half-human.
In modern day, they'd bait theories that he's half human asap, they'd hint at some kind of unexplored dynamic with his father asap, and they'd generally just bait this idea of his youth as much as possible instead of letting him undeveloped enough to display the cold logical worldview that gives the episode it's value since there'd be nothing to recontextualize. The episode would just be an expected "reward", more emphasis on Spock's dynamic with his dad rather than how said dynamic created the man he currently is, because that baits more engagement.
