I mean, come on! They wound up doing a halfway thing anyway by making the buildings Googie and Streamline Moderne anyway, why not follow through and give folks 1950s looking clothes? The computers at the Daily Planet already had a 50s sheen anyway, so why not the clothes and the cars?
