It's weird how badly the pilot has aged, I thought it was interesting when it was new but I can't help but notice how actual dogshit the writing and line delivery is in it.
I get what they're going for with Jax now who's coping by being a cartoon character but everything he does is cringe/not funny.
Zooble is a non-character.
Kinger feels the most off compared to his later characterization.

The line delivery is harder to explain but characters pause awkwardly a lot and it generally sounds unnatural.

For me this is the real problem with Digital Circus only being 9 episodes because I don't think the show actually starts being good til like episode 4.

Caine is the only actual human and all of the characters are fragments of his personality that he has projected into their own characters as he works to create the perfect game. He though this would work best to playtest, but now is stuck in the game. Abstracted characters are the personality fragments that have become totally corrupted by the game.

All except Pomni, who was sent into the game to get Caine out, but is suffering from the same issues he did at first in terms of memory loss and such, so she's forgotten herm mission

Because the first is demonstrably untrue (running from Kaufmo, going through the exit door) and the second is as well, it's just that other characters are a catalyst for this (her showing ingenuity working with Gummigoo to escape the under the map zone, Kinger helping her to be brave to escape hell and inspiring her to tell Ragatha she appreciates her trying to welcome Pomni to the circus, her finally letting go of Gummigoo so she can focus on the humans around her). Crucially this is not a bad thing at all, considering one of the main themes of the show is how much people need each other for sanity and growth, how much you suffer and stagnate when you push others away, which is the point of Jax's character, and why he's the show's other focal point.
