TLDR the original Nathanial Essex who Mister Sinister is a clone of devised a plan to become a Dominion, which are basically atemporal conceptual god AIs who exist outside the multiverse. He made 4 clones of himself who each became a dominion in their own ways in 4 different timelines (one does it via magic, one does it via science, etc). At the end of each timeline, they all get absorbed into the super Dominion which represents Essex himself. This combined mega-Dominion is called Enigma and was a threat to everything, it's mentioned that the actual reason the Beyonders were destroying the multiverse with incursions during Secret Wars is because they saw that Enigma was coming and decided to just nuke all of existence to stop him, which makes him inadvertently responsible for a shitton of things in Marvel. He ends up getting defeated via the Phoenix channeling the power of every mutant who's ever existed in any dimension in the white hot room to trap him in basically a death loop

The reason the Beyonders started the plan that resulted in Time Runs Out that resulted in Secret Wars that resulted in the big reset that shaped everything that came afterwards is that they were scared shitless of Enigma, an evil entity so powerful that it will destroy The One Above All if it comes to exist. Enigma is the corrupted version of a super AI created by the original Mr. Sinister (the Mr. Sinister that became a staple X-Men villain is a clone of this Mr. Sinister). The original Mr. Sinister wanted to stop the inevitable rise of an Ominpotent AI that would destroy the universe, but as usual he accidentally created it himself. He created 4 clones of himself and told them to ascend to Dominon (new term they invented to refer to the Apex intelligent entity that can come up from any universe). The X-Men villain Mr. Sinister starts cloning Moira (who had the power to reset shit to the moment of her birth every time she died) to set up a device that will give him infinite tries in becoming a Dominion, and he eventually becomes the strongest Dominon out of the 4 original Sinister clones. When all the Sinister clones are absorbed into the original, the X-Men villain's evil nature and power corrupts the original super AI and it becomes the evil entity Enigma, who is powerful enough to devour The One Above All and remake the Marvel multiverse in his image. He is eventually defeated by Jean Gray like many other hyped up Marvel big bads.

Whats crazy to me about Kratos vs Asura is that DB proved beyond any possible doubt that Kratos doesn't just win, he completely god-stomps and simply cannot be defeated by Asura.

He's equal in strength, if not superior, than Asura the Destructor, and so durable that the Destructor literally CANNOT hurt him even without his weapons.

He also has access to every single weapon he's ever collected across his history and has an infinite number of them thanks to Spartan Rage, so he can literally just spam the Blade of Olympus forever and has literally infinite relics and weapons.

He resists all of Asura's hax, He can't be hurt by any of Asura's attacks, he hard counters everything Asura can do, the only area where he wasn't completely dominant was in onscreen feats, and even then Kratos was shown to have equal enough dev statements and lore that he can just dodge/block/counter everything Asura can do and was guaranteed to smash and kill him with ease, even pointing out that Base Asura gets utterly obliterated by Kratos. (and the black boxes also pointed out that if they gave the two fighters EVERYTHING, then just because we haven't SEEN Kratos perform these feats, doesn't mean he can't)

All of this, btw, without once bringing in scaling from Composite Kratos or his high end stuff like the Power of Hope, the Valkyrie armors, or even forms like Giant Kratos or "Turns people into red orbs" Kratos or even Morpheus Kratos, all of which would have made it more of a stomp.

Yet even with ALL OF THAT, they ended up downplaying Kratos to a completely ridiculous and disrespectful degree, turning what should have been his ultimate, defining, final victory over an opponent who was never his equal to begin with and proving that Asura is a fraud as far as being Kratos' rival goes into one of the most hated DBs, to the point where he deserves a sequel to his flop movie game just to get the taste of that awful deathbattle out of fans mouths and put some proper respect on his name.
