I think it's a bit of both. Jax is CRAZY sensitive to ridicule, his 'funny one' schtick is all persona, so unexpectedly being made a fool of right as he's feeling like a big man fucked him up. Their dynamic in that scene is him at full joy/confidence and Ragatha absolutely floudering, so for it to flip so suddenly was a shock to his delicate system. It's sort of a microcosm of his 'archetypes' worldview, he has this deep need for everything to be predictable and is routinely disturbed by anything that runs counter to expectations.
But he also seems to blame himself for the fate of his friends, he's misinterpreted others as doing the same multiple times (Pomni warning him his behaviour might be putting HIM at risk of abstraction is taken as her blaming him for Kaufmo's abstraction. Ragatha's 'not anymore' comment about him having pushed her friendship away is taken as Ragatha dunking on him for killing his only friends. And this instance, where Ragatha's own insecurity about losing Pomni and watching her change in the company of someone cooler than her is taken as another jab of "you're going to ruin everyone who gets close to you")
