Must have a vinegar-soaked rag or something hanging on it. Or perhaps some heat tape that melted through.

if you are going to use non soldering connectors, make sure the pipe is not being used as ground after the connection. If it is, you are going to lose your grounding.

if you insist on not solder, a copper crimping tool is ~115$
looks like you'll have more reapirs to do in the future and it's worth investing in

just know crimp fittings are 10x price solder fittings
