Can't you see how the limbs look like stretched out tree branches?
Look at that elbow! Look at the sternum to belly button distance and belly button to pelvis distance. For fuck's sake, look at those tibias and wrists, and after all that compare the size of the head.
Yeah, the gen looks nice if you're scrolling through while taking a shit, but everything's stretched out and deformed, probably because of a bad upscale on a model that wasn't made for it. What is this general even doing? Do you ever improve?

Since increasing the weight of the words in Anima doesn't work, I fount a alternate solution. It seems the more you repeat a tag, the more the tag has effect. In pic related, when I used the tag "hairy labia" (not a real tag btw) I didn't get any results. But then I repeated it two more times and I got pic related. Exciting.

Which kind of distorted? Random stuff popping up, square-shaped seams?
That's tiled upscaling. Primarily a vramlet cope, after scaling the image it tiles it up and runs the second AI pass one tile at a time instead of the whole thing at once. So you never gen above 1024 res but at the cost of reliability. Because each tile gets the full prompt, including what's been cropped out of it.

The upscale bit makes no sense, anatomy is already fixed at that point. Anima's issue with upscaling is that it causes artifacts like cross-hatching, picrel is an early stage. Anatomy breaks down same as SDXL if you raw gen at too high res, but not before the same artifacting kicks in.

Here a quick step by step.
Install: SD-Script -> Anima-Standalone-Trainer
In Global Settings: Fill in each box
Goto Training Tab
Set Optimizer [Prodigy] LR Scheduler [Cosine] Learn Rate [1] Max Epoch [7]
Goto Dataset
Set Resolution and Batch Size to whatever works with your GPU (vramlets go with 768 or 1024 with batch size 1)
Add your Dataset Folder, aka the stuff you want to train, Set Num Repeats to 15
Goto Network
Network Dim and Alpha: Set to whatever you feel is necessary, (lower values equal smaller file size but less elbow room, ex. 16 and 32, I personally use 64 and 128, it's overkill for most things but I train for myself mostly)
Click Train

Is there an ez solution for inpainting regional prompts? For example, I tried to just alter the ADetailer workflow in that guide with the A8R8 modules, to link to DetailerDebug SEGS, in between the model line from Load Checkpoint but haven't gotten great results so far. Making a version of Regional Prompting that upscales seemed to play a little nicer.
I've tried the controlnet workflow but I guess having an inpainter that uses the controlnet parts would be the most ideal. Maybe that's why it isn't working actualyl the pic I'm inpainting used a controlnet.

You need to state what you consider to be "good" when it comes to anime. Anime isn't one aesthetic like 3dpd and everyone has their own taste. With that said, Anima uses a modern architecture like flux and qwen. It can do most of the danbooru prompts plus natural language so prompting doesn't feel limited like with SDXL. Just install Neo Forge and give it a try. I've fount Neo Forge generates images on SDXL faster than Reforge for example, thanks to sage attention.

after more testing what I've noticed with Anima is that it seems to apply artist styles much stronger. and also styles have much more impact on face/eyes or body shape (e.g. more chibi-like). Usually I'd apply some artist styles with 0.6 or 0.75 to get away from the "generic slop" look, but with Anima this is way too much.
also funny thing is Anima doesn't know kotobuki_tsumugi, how did that happen?
my preliminary opinion is that Anima is promising, especially if its natural language prompting is as good as promised (I didn't test).
currently the lack of working hi-res is really unfortunate.

I find that desirable since such details cannot be prompted. Weights do work a bit weird though, and mixing styles is very awkward without prompt scheduling. You could try that too, instead of changing the weights.
The lack of hiresfix isn't as bad thanks to the VAE. I mean look at the jewel on >>3063649, upscaled to 1800 still looks messed up compared to >>3063666 at base res. If you have to you can use tiled upscaling, but only at low denoise since we don't have controlnet yet. Guy said training the base model on 1024 should resolve that in the final version, but we'll see.

It's not 100% reliable once the prompt gets too long, but still pretty much replaced regional prompter for me. You can just write "girl on the left has red hair" and it'll work. And compositions that were almost impossible on sdxl without a dedicated lora work with just a text description.

Hmm the expression is fine, that's what I wanted and I tested to see they're preserved. Unfortunately I noticed the head is more likely to be detached at the edges of the inpaint with some transparency issues so I had to knock it back down to lower. Which brings back some of the problem I was trying to tackle with is crappy eyes

if you cant upscale more or don't wanna use different artists, doing a regular low denoise pass on the face, then another for the eyes isn't a bad idea, so long as you're okay with the stable diffusion vae fucking up colors to at least some small degree the more you inpaint over the same spot
