There were some chicks at my literature meme course who smartly marketed the whole gothcore aesthetic with booktok & subtle insta goon posts
I kept being smug about how they will just catch some thirsty litcel gooners but their accounts actually exploded and judging by their posts they seem to enjoy a fine life with countless voyages to fancy “dark aesthetic” places around the world
Meanwhile Im now a bitter chud stuck in a boring shitty paid analyst position

>if I see anyone alt I immediately assume they’re a prostitute
aging millenial here,
when did subculture become just another porn category? I'm not naive as it was always a 'aesthetic' (I still remember suicidegirls com) but at least back then the goth girls were actually interested in goth-related stuff. Now its Stacies past time cosplay.

When pastel goth became a thing. That’s when the emo/scene/raver girls of that time wanted to be goth and bring in the “babygirl” and “daddy” bullshit riddled with BPD. That was the precursor toward the egirl goth and all the bullshit that comes with it.
Basically, when the kids wanted to play goth too but then predators with drugs came along when they saw the age differences.

The goth subculture went down the drain and is largely sexualized and politicized by normies and idealogues. We're in one of the bottom stages in pic related. It's just what happens to all subcultures eventually.

This image is so unbelievably retarded
It just has to do with Internet and social media, any subculture with an “aesthetic” can now be co-opted by anyone without actually participating in the associated subculture.
