I'm an unc so this information is probably useless now but girls would sometimes approach me by asking for a light so it was useful to have. I also used to use my lighter to open beer bottles at parties which impressed some people. This was all back in the 00's though, I dunno if zoomers are still drinking or having sex

Well, there are pyromaniacs who just likes to set shit on fire. Comments like that is stigmatizing. Nothing wrong with lighting a fire with style.

Buy a clipper, when it wastes buy gas to refill it, when the flint brakes buy a bic, when that wastes remove the flint and put it in the old clipper.
That is basically impossible though because a friend or work mate is definitely going to steal one of them first

I use both a brushed silver Clipper that was $18 and this Colibri pipe lighter which was $60.
I'm really pissed that you can't get strike anywhere matches now because of all that old meth cook bullshit. Growing up camping and scouting we all carried those. Now it's just that 'strike on box' shit.

So? You’re that desperate for female attention that you’ll be their personal lighter carrier?
>>18658004
He specifically said he doesn’t smoke. The implication is it’s for smoking you illiterate.

Anything like a zippo that is not actually the brand Zippo
The safe but stylish options are silver and gold. It should be plain, with the exception being if you received it as a gift such as from a relative or for being in a wedding.

Lighters are useful, and this isn't even about being a "super survival guru" wannabe. You can singe the end of cordage to prevent fraying, you can burn off loose threads to prevent a tear from getting worse, you can start up a gas torch, etc. etc. You can't imagine a world in which fire can be used for anything other than nicotine, which is very funny.

You can tell how fucking country dumb some of those soldiers were based on what they had engraved.
I like the one that lists his kills and then says "If you're the one recovering my body, fuck you."
What an idiot he must have been. LOL

Just looked into Imco and the idea of a gasoline lighter is fucking sweet.
They range from $12 to $30 new on ebay but I don't know what I'm looking for. Are they all fine? Is it worth getting a "real" one from Australia? They seem to be "vintage style".
What's too much to pay? What's too little?
Thanks.

>>18658908
No, actually, you should avoid "real ones" from AUSTRIA because they rust. I would rather get a Chinese replica because it's made of stainless steel, albeit a bit thinner, I had one of those and lost it but it was awesome while I had it. It also loses very little lighter fluid through evaporation unlike a Zippo because the extinguishing mechanism is tight and small. The only problem with them is that changing the wick requires you tie its end to a string which you then pull through the casing with the cotton, otherwise it's easy to maintain and reliable. Opt for the cheapest one, there really isn't much difference between grades.

Wow. Kick ass. Thank you for the tips.
I think the one on the left looks really cool but the one on the right looks like it's better functional and it's in my cart for ten bucks and I'll buy it next time I get a watch.

You don't. If you carry a lighter for the specific utilitarian purpose of letting others use it, that just will cause them to want to hold it and then it very well may disappear. Don't be a jagoff. Just carry a Bic or a Zippo. The only, singular exception to the above would be if you were dressing up and have a girl who smokes (don't do this). In this one example worth mentioning as there are no others, then yes, she will care about you using your eff-ay lighter to spark her up. It's fancy, it's hot, it makes her look good, you made her look good, transitive property, etc. Since you're never going to do this, just use a fucking Bic and take the "Thank you."

I carry a Zorro lighter. Its a Chinese knockoff of a Zippo but with a nice machined hinge and o ring seal. Lasted 6 months without a refill floating around in my pocket with light use when I tested it.

if you want it solely as a conversation starter at a bar or something you are much better off carrying cigs to give away, you'll probably start smoking yourself though as the next logical step if you want to talk to someone who just bummed a cig from you is to light one up yourself and smoke with them
with that being said, anything more than a bic is gonna do you more harm than good, you have to understand the only people who get "nice" lighters are posers and fedora types, even heavy smokers, yes there are a few niche use cases like cigars and collectors, but if you're at a bar and pull out a custom zippo or something people are gonna see right through you.
It's like if you asked someone on the street what time it is and they pulled out a fucking pocket watch, no matter how cool or expensive or fancy it might look you're still gonna be like wow that fucking weirdo carries a pocket watch
