There's something about clear aviator prescription glasses that makes people think about the cringe aspects of the 1980's. Not just Dahmer. It's interesting because they've tried to bring these glasses back, but nobody can pull them off unless they're already attractive enough that a pair of shitty glasses won't affect much.

If you've got the right face shape and attitude to pull them off, they're one of the only styles that doesn't make you look like either an incel or a pretentious hipster. I wear pic related and get pretty good feedback on them, but I've got a wide face that they don't look oversized on and I'm a generally outgoing and funny guy, which does a lot to counter the pedo/serial killer associations.

Personally I like them more for the old fashioned look though, I'm a skilled trade guy in a small rural-adjacent PNW city and I've found that cultivating an old-school craftsman kind of vibe helps a lot with my career and social life, especially given that my bosses and customers are mostly boomers.

I stopped wearing glasses in public because I look like the actor in that schlock lmfao. Nobody has called me Dahmer, but last month I got told I look like "Quicksilver" (Evan Peters, later in dahmer slop). My hair is prematurely gray and sorta like Quicksilver's.
I'm fairly confident I can't pull off those glasses
