As an end in itself, I do not give a shit about fashion at all. I don't have any personal sense of style, I just wear cheap jeans and graphic tees.
I'd like to start dressing in a way that's more acceptable to women, though. Just enough that they think "he looks nice", and aren't immediately turned off by my schlubby loser outfits when I try flirting with them.
Best way to go about this? I'm 22, tall-ish and skinny, if that's relevant.

Just wear anything over the tee, jumper, shirt, jacket. Doesn't matter.
Also watches and shoes that aren't completely ugly. Just something for visual interest.
Pick out complementary or analagous colours and you'll already look better than 90% of the population.
Also treat them like human beings.

Women like all kinds of different things. And women who like X style of clothing may not like you for other reasons. You would be better served changing your style of dress to adapt to a girlfriend's tastes once you have one. But until then, it's impossible to know how someone would like you to dress, so just dress however you want.
