there were a few rebadges of the fw900, sgi was another famous one
linus tranny tips in 2020 made a vid about it calling it the best monitor ever made and the price of it went from about 500-$1000 at max to current prices were trannies want 2-4k local/5k on ebay
they also have known problems with fly back transformers so the likelihood you get one with a proper working one is smaller than you think. I have personally seen a few people get scammed on that, or being coy and thinking they can fix it themselves when they will never find a replacement unless they steal one from another high end crt almost as rare in some cases

Last thread died quickly. Shame, these threads were starting to see a lot of life again until recently.
>>108161558
Linus Shill Tips have ruined a lot. They're also one of the big reasons Nintendo became such massive psychos about emulation (LTT were one of the biggest voices publicly telling people how to pirate Metroid Dread and play it on Steam Deck, and giving their videos titles that taunted Nintendo for it).

>what game is running on your TV?
Brightis, it's a Japanese PS1 game. It's kind of like a very stripped-down Zelda clone made by the devs behind games like Actraiser, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma (but the story/setting is far less interesting than any of those games').
>And why isn't your 2nd monitor in the picture anymore? >.>
I was originally gonna put my CRT on the left side of my desk, but found it better to have it on the right-hand side. 2nd monitor's out of frame but still on that arm there; I simply didn't bother swiveling it back into place for the pic.
>>
>>
>>108162108
>Brightis, it's a Japanese PS1 game.
Thanks, fuck that game looks good, especially on that soulful tv. Reminds me of dark souls. Stripped-down Zelda sounds awful, but Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma gives me hope.
>I simply didn't bother swiveling it back into place for the pic.
Alright. I really like your setup, retro vibe + running linux. The only thing I would change is probably the mouse or mod it, to match that keyboard beige.
>>
>>
>>
>>108162446
I've long maintained that keyboards retaining right-side numpads after mice became standardized is one of the biggest ergonomic fuckups that never got fixed. I wish there were good fullsize southpaw mechanical keyboards being made now, but as far as I've seen, they're only available based on clownshit layouts like 1800/96%/Alice. And usually cost an arm and a leg extra.
>>108162245
>Alright. I really like your setup, retro vibe + running linux.
Thanks!
>The only thing I would change is probably the mouse or mod it, to match that keyboard beige.
I tried the 8bitdo mouse since it's available in NES gray (which is actually kinda beige), but it wasn't comfortable to use for longterm sessions. That's like the only modern-spec mouse I could find that was a retro beige/gray and didn't also look fucking stupid.

This seems pretty great, only downsides potentially
>DisplayPort 1.4 which is lagging the specifications of this monitor
>stand too low and not extendable
>crappy cable port placement
Maybe wait until competitors do it better
>>
>>
>>108165103
Let's wait for independent reviews, not sponsored/partnership ones, as it always happens at the launch. At this price point, I expect: mediocre black and gray uniformity; aggressive matte coating with a random pattern that yields to a disgusting rainbow haze on light backgrounds, especially pure white (say hello to eye fatigue reading texts on white); wobbling stand; coil whine on some examples.

The sunshine and clear sky this morning made me think about doing a Mirror's Edge style PC, it's been a decade since Windows 10 came out with that minimalist crap.
Any suggestions on keyboard/case/desk/decoration styling? I kind of want to do something more interesting than just blackout or whiteout, though if the latter works all-year then I might as well.
I'm considering going with a be quiet! case + fan combo, and some kind of full-size mechanical keyboard with silent switches along with a Logitech Lift or something quiet like that.
>>
>>
>>108165343
>What does this mean to you?
Solarpunk is probably what the aesthetic could be called.
In this case, it'd be a minimalist, clean look that doesn't draw attention to its self with high contrast colors when it does, acoustic profile similar to blowing wind or fabric. Something anti-claustrophobic and bright, energetic but easy on the eyes.
https://worldofleveldesign.com/categories/game_environments_design/mir rors-edge-color.php
This article explains it better than me, I've seen people do something for the more Cyberpunk-styled reboot in Catalyst but I'm more attached to the original game and wanted to see what others might find realistic for daily use.

I tried one of their Adept models (the flat one w/ six buttons), and couldn't stand it.
Hard to describe, almost like there was a slight difference in x & y travel of the pointer.

This is my setup, all I got is a Japanese Dreamcast, a Librebooted T420, and a Core 2 Quad Q9650 ATI Radeon HD 4870 4gb DDR3 shitbox that runs Arch Linux on dwm with my own configs and I can do everything on it. My CRT is a Gateway Solo 1776 LE and it's from 1993.
I recently threw away my $2500 Battlestation and decided to limit my internet usage to basic sites like wikipedia and image boards like 4chan, I use w3m as my main go to web browser on urxvt and I use youtube through mpv with youtube-dl and youtube-tui; everything I do is through the terminal and my "Discord" is IRC through IRSSI.

It sucks. It's too bright. It gets dirty really quickly. You see every little bit of filth on this thing. It's impossible to keep clean. And, unlike what anon said, it's not that easy to clean. If you actually work on your desk, this mat is the worst thing to get.
>>
>>108170123
>It's impossible to keep clean.
Are we talking about the same mat? This is a fake leather one. I owned fabric and felt before and this one is by far the easiest to clean, just give it a wet wipe once a week. I had to wash and brush fabric ones and let them dry over night. This one is clean in 10sec. How much cum and sauce is on your thing?

this house built in the 50's or 60's, and this room I think was originally meant to be home office, which it is now again. IIRC, that nook would been where a landline telephone went. There is a blank plate cover behind my monitors and I suspect that is likely where a phone line would have been.

It doesn't bother me. They're actually not fully centered to my usual seating position, just being a bit off center to the right. I'm right-eye dominant and my eyesight in my left eye is pretty bad, so I've found this setup works best for me, with my left monitor being my primary and right being my secondary since its easier for me to see out of my periphery to the right.

Even ignoring the degen shit here, this thread exists for the sake of the idolatry of consumerism. Sure, there used to be rot stations (rare now) and are poorfags, but 95% of the setups are "look at how I spend my money to express myself as an individual!!!'
Equally as ironic as the current breed of performative christianity that is sweeping the US.

Behold, even more monitors for the work setup. Ergos were so bad on the old setup that it tucked up my back and gave me sciatica. If I could open multiple VMs with the PLC software I would add more monitors.

Why even have that many monitors at once? At some point i had like 4 displays+laptop+an HP AIO on my desk because i had to connect quite a few things at once, but eventually it was just too much and i got back to just using 2 displays and MobaXterm.

>couple of spare NUCs for testing

I keep my main PC (Z2 mini G9), a coupple of 24" displays, and a dock when i need to setup some laptops. I still do need a bigger desk.

Nice. I would think writing and reading documents (even browsing) is superior on this. A split ergo keyboard would fit nicely, but those ask for outrageous prices. For a brief moment I was into trackballs. In fact, I have the same one. Add something like a towel as a wrist rest, does not have to be something very big. Eventually went with an old model G502 since I lost hope in GameBall, as they have pretty much been radio silent about the GameBall Pro.

Ekornes by any chance? If so the top layer is replaceable. Either way if it doesn't stink who cares, you have a fitted sheet to cover it up anyways. And if it does stink use lacquer thinner to destroy all life in your mattresses, it evaporates fast and is only second to chlorinated solvents in making stains and smells vanish.

Not him but .... that's residue from the door hinge that somehow spreads to the frame and wall.
I also have this on almost every door in my apartment exactly where the hinges are.
I tried to remove this by wiping it off, but it sits very hard. I guess i have to use some agressive cleaning agent or isopropanol to get it removed entirely.
On one door, there is also a constant airflow coming from the frames part of the locking mechanism. You know, the two holes where the locking bolts grip into when you actually lock the door.
Every six month or so, i have to wipe off the dust that collects at this spot.
Spraying it and making it air tight with insulation foam did not give any results.

damn i thought it wuld be cheaper
is there any laptop like that at an affordable price?
IE: A laptop without a touchpad, just most of the surface taken by the laptop and maybe a trackpoint like thinkpad or old HP

i wish i was this tidy, i feel like i never have space, as soon as i get on my computer i leave my glasses, my wallet, my car keys, over hte desk somewhere, and i have so many gadgets and old hardware in my house im running out of space
To be fair most of these just dont look like they're used because everything is so tidy and theres no space for shit, but i guess you guys have other rooms to store your hardware, books, peripherials etc,
>>108181793
this is the tidiest one that still looks lived in, i would do something similar in that space considering i also have a driving wheel
The two-level desk is a great idea too
the speakers on the edge of it make me nervous tho

Haven't posted one in a while. Need to figure out cable management for the back of the desk, it's a mess.

I assume that's because of all the hats, but I've never even played TF2 lol. I just have a shitload of hats because I live in the high desert and all my ancestors were from European mountain regions so I have next to zero natural UV resistance.

This is the one I got, I am content with it. It uses a strong double sided tape to stick under your desk. comes in a 2, 5 or 20 pack. Mind you each runner is 15.4 inches

it's bad luck keeping your hats upside down.

are you one of "them"?
>>
>>108205700
You've got it backwards - "upside down" in that superstition means the way that'd be right side up when worn on your head. That's why they say "the luck will spill out." That also only applies to placing it down on a surface though and it's really because it fucks up the brim and having it brim up lets it air out between wearings.

Shitty desk, but it works for me.
>>

>>108206024
I would want it to be wider honestly. The L side of the desk isnt ever used except to throw stuff on randomly. The trade off of having the side isnt worth having a narrow desk. But I am not going to replace it any time soon, my studio apartment is too small for anything bigger.

Based Turtwig enjoyer. You have so much space and so much potential. Just get a cable management set for under $10. Picrel. And get a dual monitor arm. You could also get a microphone arm (if you want). And shit decoration like pictures, more toys like your pokemon, or gay ass fake plants. Just wire your cables under your desk, hide them behind your legs and arms and maby turn the PC 90 degrees to the viewer. Your Right L side could be your work area: Printer, soldering stuff, cutting mat etc. Huge potential.

I would get monitor arms and a mic arm but I dont know if the clamps would work on this desk. Instead of it just being a single thing of wood, there are metal bars like an inch away from the edge of the desk. My worry is that there isnt enough space for the clamps to really stay on which would cause everything to break
>>
>>108206365
Don't worry, those clamps will stick to everything, you just pull off the protective layer and then stick them to every surface, you can wire cables through those clips then. They will even stick to your metal legs and underneath your wooden table top. It's under 10 bucks dude. I promise you, you can hide 90% of your cables.
I hope I will see you in the next /bst/ round with better cable management and an monitor arm.

anyone who thinks they can maintain a semblance of christian values while continuing to browse this site has simply lost the plot.
I don't have an issue with christians, many of them are wonderful people. I have an issue with the faggots on this site and modern evangelicals who are legitimate shithawks while proclaiming to be virtuous and pious.

Anon you need a drop zone by your door. Something as simple as this holder i have will work. You need to optimize your processes to achieve the cleanliness you see from me and others.
I do not intentionally clean my setup for a pic. I live like this.

Suggestions on wall mounting triple monitors that have zero slop? I've tried a few cheaper arms screwed into studs and no matter what they're always a millimeter or two off from each other so the monitors never quite line up right, or god forbid I bump one or one wiggles as I plug or unplug a cable. I'm worried that a 3 monitor wall mount with two arms with only one point of contact will sag on either side especially with my 32" monitors, so ideally each monitor would have its own arm mount
I like the idea of pic related but surely there's a cheaper alternative to this
I refuse monitor stands that clamp to the desk because they always wobble and any slight movement at the desk magnifies and shakes the whole monitors too
