honestly plasma did perfect the floating window desktop.
i still wish there was some kind of a floating/scrolling hybrid (per workspace) the way cosmic does floating/tiling hybrid. and i know there's a plugin for that but i tried it and it kidna sucked

been away from linux for a while and wanted to try out wayland this time. I wanted the same "master layout" like dwm and hyprland is what I landed on, I kinda like it but now I just feel embarrassed if someone asks what desktop I'm using. hyprland is such a bad name.

it's just the same Arch packages but optimized specifically for your system, nothing radically different. you may or may not notice a snappier system in general, I personally find it to be noticeably better.

Okay, I'm going to break, this is the ugliest desktop on this thread, the wallpaper quite literally makes me nauseous for some reason and the theme is flat in a disgusting way. There are definitely good looking desktops with flat themes but this is not one of them.

A modern Linux desktop that's not a discordant mess designed by a retard, or trying to force you into an autistic "do it our way" work pattern.

XFS would be simple but I've been testing ZFS in a VM and I like it more but I wonder if it's a problem that's gonna brew over time if the zpool needs some kind of management or if some gentoo upgrade may break it (I don't know why though, gentoo shouldn't care about my filesystem AFAIK)

idk I think I fucked up my theme settings, tried to customize it to look better still figuring things out with Linux though since this is the first time I've put it to use beyond just messing around for a few hours.
>>
>>
>>108188836
Figured it wouldn't be unusual to >>108188689 if that were the case. Is there a specific theme or setting that would make the styling match?
>>
>>108188912
well assuming that by controls anon meant the buttons in your titlebar and the titlebar itself, then that is part of the styling controlled by your theme settings. kde uses qt for all its native applications, and firefox is build with gtk3. so if you never set a gtk theme then firefox is just using the default, probably adwaita. there isnt really a setting to get consistent themeing between the two engines, so if you want consistency you would need to use a theme that has both a qt and a gtk version
>>
>>108188912
>>108188972
oh i didnt see the browser was brave. in brave you can actually switch between what theme engine it uses. you can just go into settings and switch to qt i think
>>
>>108188984
>>108188972

If you at least were not a pervert I would not be complaining. All your personality is based on tranny porn and gooner memes, which makes me wonder if you're actually transitioning out of a fetish and not due to true gender dysphoria. And if being trans is just a part of you, and that must be accepted by others, why do you need to make it your whole personality Elliot?

not 2 but 3 colors! both purple and orange on a turqoise backdrop. it's like a fight between Sun and HP's CDE colorschemes finally settled by bright orange in a modern aesthetic.
>>
>>108199954
The colors remind me of having to listen to music at the grocery store. No sense of visual importance or heirarchy. The purple color needs the green turned up higher than that of the background of the terminal. It bleeds.

>>108200133
checked. you mean as in more saturated or lighter? it's already more saturated than the purple i think it's because it's cyan/turqoise that it seems more gray than it is by relation to the orange and the purple. they seem to bleed a lot worse if i saturate either one too much.

maybe I should give it another shot. had some bad experiences with stability and latency, kind of a dealbreaker for live stuff
always wanted to try out bitwig, but I'd really be missing live's builtin devices ngl

Yes, I have a custom Thunar action for that. The panel is just a transparent SVG created in Inkscape. It resizes the wallpaper to my laptop's screen native resolution, applies the panel PNG overlay (exported from the SVG) with ImageMagick's compose, and saves it as *_panel.tif. Then, I right-click on a new file and select "Set as wallpaper."
The customization and automation capabilities on Linux are incredible, I'll never go back to Windows.

Everything you just posted is easily possible on Windows or Macintosh. There was nothing you automated that is special to GNU+Linux, not even the ease in which it is done.

nta but please, take my setup (picrel) for example. this took me so much shitfuckery to do, i had to use windhawk hacks, bypass artificial limitations and such, the end result being a mess that feels like it's held like duct tape. this is unlike what i've faced on linux on ANY desktop environment, since you don't have to jump through hoops and you get an end result that doesnt feel like it will fall apart at any second (especially when it comes to updates since windows updates will NUKE your rice)

Useful as fuck tbqh. People online are a little harsh with it, saying it's pointless because DAWs have scales/music theory built-in nowadays. That's quite true in some parts I guess, but Scaler is much appreciated when you're trying to borrow from other scales, along with showing how distant that borrowed chord is from actual scale you're in.
DAWs will more or less lock the keys in a scale, Scaler actively shows the potential routes-- all the forks in the road when your showing it a chord progression.
