As I said, I'm aware that the images are 'raw' and contain flaws, and I'm not trying to say they look better than other gens, that's not the point. But in some aspects they could be confused for rough booru art, for something that a person actually produced - certainly without the flaws, which might be ironed out with further training and/or post-training. SDXL anime finetune gens contain fewer flaws (largely because they've actually completed training) but any person would immediately identify them as synthetic. I'm not trying to say that SDXL finetune gens are bad (I guess calling them 'slop' was a little mean, I didn't mean it that way) but it's just how it is, they generally have a look to them, and if you look at any other anime- or booru-style art then look at synthetic images, you will be able to tell that they look different (and a lot of people were talking about this when ZIT released... one of the things that set it apart was making less synthetic-looking gens)

You know how SDXL models frequently produce a "glowing" effect that extends beyond the lines? Like, for example, it's common for skin to glow outside of the lines into the background.
Put glowing, glow and bloom in negatives. It fixes this.

Also, one reason I think the models do this is because this is in the training data from anime screenshots. The chroma channel in video files is much lower resolution than the actual video files and this leads to chroma bleed, so you'll see, in actual anime, the glowing skin tone kind of bleeding out of the lines.

I stick to my style, which means using the same checkpoint. I'll only switch to a new checkpoint if one comes out that represents a large improvement in both prompt comprehension/adherence and aesthetics. I'm hoping the expected Z Image Danbooru dataset finetune is that checkpoint.
My thinking behind sticking with the same style was validated by an anon I was talking to on a different board.
He liked an image, asked for sauce, and was told by someone else that it's AI. He replied that that's disappointing.
I asked him why that's disappointing, curious if he was just a Luddite or had another reason to be disappointed.
He replied, saying he's not anti-AI, but that most people who post AI constantly switch styles, so he was disappointed to learn that the image was AI because that likely meant there weren't many or any more like it, since most people who post AI constantly change styles.
I've always thought it was best to stick with one style because if someone sees an image of mine they like, they can do their own due diligence to find the source, go to the source, and find a bunch of other images in the same style which they may only like, rather than going to the source, finding a bunch of different styles they don't like, and being disappointed.

In any case, when I do end up moving to a new checkpoint, I plan on trying my best to replicate my current style with the new checkpoint, just like I did the last time I switched checkpoints. My current style looks super similar to the style I had with my old checkpoint, but the shading is a lot nicer because the checkpoint is Illustrious-based instead of Pony-based. Everything now just looks a little more HD because of 1536x1536 inpainting.
I certainly don't have the time to be trying out tons of checkpoints, let alone experimenting with artist tag mixes in each of those checkpoints in order to try to approximate my current style. I'll only try a new checkpoint once I read about one that sounds REALLY promising, like it could be the one that represents enough of a prompt comprehension/adherence or aesthetic leap to justify switching to it.
