Shame about the dying drivers and tuning, their spare parts ordering experience is perfect.
t. just bought a slider mechanism upgrade kit, tuning foam discs and 2 metal head bows for DIY experimentation

Thanks, I'll look into them.

Avoid Sony at all costs. Flimsy way overpriced chinkshit that WILL break in under a year, with earpads that tear / flake after a few months, with shitty software that you will hate.
The other brands might also suck, but my experience with having sony from decades ago to the newer wireless ANC bluetooth headphones is that they cannot produce a quality product to save their life, and everything they make costs 5-10x as much as it ought to for how poorly made it is.

I've written in almost every thread for the past three months don't touch XM6s because of dogshit build quality, most ANCs are e-waste designed to be miserable to do maintenance on so you need to buy a new one every year or two.
Meanwhile, my Sony XBA-Z5s from 2013 still work perfectly lol. Its insane how downhill Sony has gone.

My massdrop AKG K553 Pros just finally died. What should I replace them with? I'm tempted to just get the K553 MKII but wondering if there's a better alternative at this point. I liked that they were closed back so I could use them for recording, but also offer a flat enough response for mixing.

Looking for a best closed back under 500 euro.
Currently deciding between Beyers DT 700x and Sony MDR M1.
Could stretch my budget towarads something like Focal Azurys or downgrade to Fiio FT1.
Use case: single player gaming, movies, long wear comfort is a priority.

Requesting some purchase advice
>WNY
>Budgets very high but don't want anything too unreasonable or expensive
>Don't matter
>As far as music goes I like metal, rock, electronic, alternative, and I game, and watch TV shows and anime with them
>Previous equipment I have Razer Krakens and older Beats Fit Pro
Looking to make a significant upgrade. I use the Razer Krakens with my PC and the Beats Fit Pro earbuds when working out. Looking to make a significant upgrade to both, not looking to spend thousands but moneys not much of a concern. Any recommendations? Would like the price to be somewhat reasonable but want good quality. I do like noise cancellation

how are the timbre and treble coverage? any noticeable dips that would make them bad for basic mixing/mastering?
due to its sub bass emphasis, low distortion and comfort i'm really considering getting a pair as a complement to my 6XX
the only thing im concerned about is having to splurge on a bigger amp. i have a schiit heresy and a little dot mkiii but i assume as a planar it wont take well to tubes so i'm wondering if the heresy will be enough to get it up to its potential or not
any insight would be much appreciated as it's my first big purchase consideration in quite a while and i'm on a tight budget but this one really caught my eye last thread

Not the guy who got them, but I don't think that you will run into any issues with schiit heresy.
Also the worst thing which will happen if you drive them with little dot is likely going to be the lack of volume. The main reason why OTL amps have high output impedance is to switch the power load from current-based one to voltage one as tubes don't take well big currents, but can happily take bigger voltages.

>>108272392
thanks
i'm not too worried about volume cause my system can go very loud, my lower impedance (dynamic) headphones are also somehow still louder on it than the 6XX, but they do make the tube hum audible. perhaps with some different tubes that wont be an issue though. i'm also a little concerned about it fucking up the depth/texture of the low end on a planar (if thats a real thing)
anyways none of that matters if the schiit can do the job

The old D2000, D5000 and D7000 were made by Foster, the new ones aren't. Engineering is very obviously similar but not a single part between the two generations is interchangeable.

Based dad, get him to teach you how to wield a soldering iron though. Mad useful skill to have.

>do any other companies sell parts like they do?
Sennheiser used to be pretty good about it too, but that seems to have gone downhill ever since the buyout. You can find spare parts for Fostex and Denon from certain spare parts retailers, but they don't sell directly to consumers like Beyer and they definitely don't have a whole dedicated web shop on their own site.

Learn to solder, retard. This was the perfect opportunity.

I have a very tangential question but I'm not sure where else to ask this
Does anybody know how bad the audio latency is if you plug headphones/earplugs into the Switch 2 pro controller (like, an exact ms number), or if the latency goes away if the controller is physically plugged into the dock?
There's a system setting on the console to get a lower latency connection when your pro controller is plugged in via cable, but I don't know if that applies to the audio output from the controller too

are the AKG K702s an upgrade over my HD598s? looking for a good all-rounder headphone that is comfy and handles most types of music/gaming well
i do not care for hifiman trash that shit is too heavy to wear for any reasonable amount of time
