Because it's the only smartphone that has been produced at large scale since the NAND/DRAM prices have surged.
The smartphone industry usually has a 3-6 month delay from when they purchase hardware to when it actually gets into consumer hands, so Samsung likely was purchasing the NAND/DRAM for the S26 in October/November, right as the NAND/DRAM prices started to rise.
Expect phones coming out this summer/fall to be even worse than the S26.

Samsung makes 34% of all DRAM in the world and I'm pretty sure they make 100% of DRAM that goes in Samsung phones.
If higher demand for DRAM was an argument for them to increase the prices on their phones it's because they want to make more money not because they "weren't prepared".
Samsung stock prices have skyrocketed, they are one of the big winners of this situation.

I don't trust the speedometer and want to see how fast my moped goes.
What are some Android apps that work in the background and track the maximum speed? Ideally I'd start the app, put the phone in my pocket, start driving my moped and when done I'd check the app for the max speed.

I had a funny idea. pixel 10a. blue. I have an iphone 13 and I thought about trading it in for a blue pixel 10a because I think it makes a good Furina phone. it’s blue. And it’s flat. Just like her (my pretty flat wife) I could even put a wallpaper of her to solidify its Furinamaxxing. problem is I play genshin on my phone all the time and I don’t know if I could cope with the decreased power of a tensor chip compared to the measly a15 sadly. google should have called this the furina phone

Why is it the Chinese are the only manufacturers that understand that to get the performance out of a snapdragon, you have to have some type of cooling?
It baffles me that Samsung and all their engineers decided to put the new Snapdragon in their flagship phone with just """"vapor cooling""""".

Same reason why other Chinese phones aren't as popular. They aren't a good package deal.
Sure, the redmagic does some things better than the popular brands but when you look at the overall picture its not very good
People obsess over the "omg no punch hole so based" meanwhile forgetting that the software on this phone is trash, the photos it takes are trash, its "Special cooling" is a gimmick that almost doesn't make any actual difference and it's design is ugly as sin.
>>
So far, the performance benchmarks on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are really disappointing. Usually, Snapdragons can hold their own when compared to Apple's A SoCs, but as it stands now, the A19 Pro wipes the floor with it.

Why the fuck does Spotify drain so much battery? I'll typically use SBC on my earbuds at 160kbps and stream via wireless data (mind you, I'm subscribed to Premium so I've downloaded the playlists I listen to the most) and it'll drain like 20% in an hour for some reason. I figured maybe it's streaming them regardless if I have them downloaded or not, so I turned on offline mode and yet the issue remains. One odd thing I also noticed is that streaming music to my car stereo via Bluetooth (AAC) for about an hour drains maybe 5%-8% of my battery which doesn't make sense. What the hell's going on here?
>>
>>108269064

looking to get a phone for my wife, main requirements are that it has sd, headphone jack, good t-mobile us support and isn't ewaste out of the box. Should I look for a used Xperia 1 V, or look for a newer device? Checked kimovil and a few other places and it doesn't look good for new phone options in the us, only thing that seems remotely decent is the 2026 Moto G Stylus which isn't out yet and is probably way worse in performance than a used 2 year old Xperia. Any opinions?

anything after the 1/5/10 V won't support n71 on t-mobile which in my region basically makes it useless. I'd love to get a newer Xperia model but the lack of n71 band support (even after flashing a new modem) makes it a hard sell for me.

>>
>>108273476
Installing a rom doesn't stop your phone from being spied on. Snowden already proved if you are not on your own closed network cellular towers, you're being monitored. You're just coping bruv. What does iOS have to do with a mid tier SOC Pixel having a meme rom installed on it? Stay on topic.
>>
>>108273487
>shifts goalposts from Google spying to telecom triangulation
Well then don't have a phone, or a tablet, or anything else with a cellular modem. OS is irrelevant if you're worried about that, they can always get your location if you are connected to the towers.
>what does iOS have to do with custom ROMs
Nothing, that's why you're stuck with Apple Services and the additional spying that Apple is forced by the NSA to do. Google does it too, but it is possible to have Android without Google Play Services and Google apps, the same isn't true of Apple and iOS.
>>
>>
>>108273533
So you agree that that ROM is a meme because it does not give you full anonymity and you're just coping also you don't know what devices I have. Lol I have way more phones than you and you're stuck with just one phone kid. I buy brand new flagships just for fun. I ordered my fourth phone, you're still on just one. I got rid of my mediocre pixel 9 Pro XL and dumped the Google meme phones because they decided to put horrible chips in them. I also just dumped Samsung after the s25 ultra because of the atrocious release that they just had with the s26 ultra. Unlike some people here I refuse to accept any company dumbing down their products and cheaping out on them just to make a profit for the people on the board of trustees.

No. India doesn't make chips for smartphones they will never have factories like TSMC in Taiwan that make 100% of the iPhone soc. The main board is 100% made in china. The Indian factories were so bad that Apple is opening iPhone factories in the USA to avoid all the wasted time from the horrible quality the indian factory was pumping out. Apple is doing what every company with factories in India should be doing and that's leaving and shutting them down.

There's a huge market for a "cheap" brand new iPhone even if the hardware is really barebones, especially in the US. I also reckon there's lots of carrier subsidies.
>just get last year's or last last year's base model and get a better phone+still save money
I'm not sure if it's an American thing, but there's a sort of stigma surrounding buying used electronics, especially smartphones. I know a lot of people who absolutely refuse to buy a used phone even if it's only a year or two old.

OnePlus did the same fix for the OnePlus 15 which resulted in the SOC performing worse than the previous years in benchmarking. They have to literally slow down the SOC, that’s the fix. The galaxy s26 ultra has an overclocked version of the latest snapdragon and it’s performing worse compared to the same chip that does not have an overclock. The phone is literally a meme.

I had a pixel 9 pro XL and a s25 ultra. Sad they ruined the new models with downgrades. My OnePlus 15 and Red Magic 11 Pro are way better and it's shocking to me that this is the current reality for Android.

If you're not going to be doing anything that's going to require you to use the full power of your smartphone such as gaming or running llms then you should be fine, but at the same time just remember you're buying a device that has literally horrible innovation. New generation models should not have anything inside of it that results in less performance than the previous model. Would anybody accept paying the same price for a 2027 BMW, the same exact model, same exact look; but it's going to perform worse than the previous year's model that has the same looks? Of course not. This is the same situation with the smartphone industry at the moment especially pertaining to Pixel and Galaxy. I'm still buying a s26 Ultra though and I totally know what I'm doing to myself. I just like tech, but I really don't like being played by these corporations like that.

>worse performance than Pixel 9 because G5 throttles hard as fuck
>48MP 1/2.0" main, 11MP 1/3.2" tele, 11MP f/2.2 1/3.2" UW down from 50MP 1/1.3" main+48MP f/1.7 1/2.55" UW
>worse battery life due to house fire chipset, bigger battery doesn't offset this
>9's display is 200 nits brighter
Pixel 10 is more of an a-class phone. Avoid it at all costs

Anons, can I get an honest Phone Recommendation? Should I get the S25 now that its going to be on sale? Or what type of everyday phone should I look into?

Hurr durr me retard, how to do that? Is that the same as Shizuku? Also... Its really expensive I'd rather search for another 1TB phone...

Looks good, I might get it, a friend recommended Poco or Nothing Phone, but I play gacha slop and I would need some powerful gayming chip

Hmmmmmmm ok I might think about it some more, I DO want a RedMagic Phone but I dunno... Everything looks shiny to me now that I'm at the stage of changing my S23. Might look up reviews for the OnePlus and that IQOO or might wait another year I dunno

G5 is better than G4 until it throttles, in which case G4 is better, and yes you do get a telephoto but it's a tiny piece of shit sensor like the one Samsung's been using so it might as well not be there. Details are a bit muddy even in good lighting, and forget about using it in any other lighting conditions besides that, because at best it'll look like an oil painting and at worse it'll look like a shittier oil painting when it inevitably has to crop from the main camera.
>>
>>108278250
OnePlus = OPPO
They might even shut down OnePlus entirely
>>108278385
>In 15-minute CPU throttling tests, the G5 maintains a higher "floor" than the G4. While both chips will eventually throttle to protect the hardware, the G5 typically retains about 61% of its max performance compared to the G4's 55%.
>>
are OEMs retarded tho? why don't they test how the chip performs before launch day? why do users have to wait months just to get these garbage SOCs software underclocked when they are clearly unstable and killing the battery as well

Sounds like a walled garden to me. You will have to give Google your ID to distribute Android applications

>There was a brief sigh of relief in November when Google offered vague assurances in a blog post that they were going to design some “advanced flow” that might permit “experienced users to accept the risks of installing software that isn’t verified”. Some commenters went so far as to claim victory and assert that Google had backed down from the program altogether. Such triumphalism was premature and uninformed. We have since learned that no such “advanced flow” will be made available prior to the September lock-down. They purported to be “gathering early feedback on the design of this feature”, but this is also untrue: no such feedback has been sought from anyone outside of Google.
>Google’s official and unambiguous stance remains, according to their developer landing page, that:
>Starting in September 2026, Android will require all apps to be registered by verified developers in order to be installed on certified Android devices.

Better switch to Apple where you not only need to ID yourself but also have a developer license, it's only $99/year!
>>108279248
If they go through with this, it won't affect me. Because I run GrapheneOS. :^)
>>
>>
>>108279281
Say Google goes through with this... iOS is still more restrictive with respect to background processes, sideloading, allowing features tobe used by apps like JiT, compared with Android... have you even used iOS?

still rocking a oneplus 6, two of them actually, LineageOS one as a daily driver (calls, navigation) and a postmarketOS one for media and home network stuff.
Both keep charge for several days on standby, but my main one gets drained to 0% in only 1h30m when used for navigation, i suspect some LineageOS fuckery, i don't think it was that bad on retail ROM.
I wish either Qualcomm or Mediatek would step up and fully support ANY of their chipsets in upstream Linux (with camera, modem and power management stuff included).
I would love to buy and daily drive a single phone that is runs Linux and is not constrained by androidisms, but postmarketOS is not daily drive'able because of camera, call and suspend/wakeup issues, most of them tracing all the way back to the kernel.

Unihertz displaying working models of the Titan 2 Elite at MWC. 4200mah battery, 2 chipsets, Dimensity 7300 and 8400. Demo phones being sent out to journalists start of April. Priced higher than the US$399 Titan 2.

As someone who's a fan of small phones in the US, are we cooked?
I've gained a small collection of unihertz phones to satiate the need for the time being, but they often leave something to be desired. The screen ghosting of the display on the jelly max feels like things are running at sub-60hz, and i love my jelly star, but not being 5G has had me finding more dead spots than i'd like. I've been using an iphone 13 mini to just have a small phone with good specs without AI bullshit.
Are there any suitable substitutes for someone who wants a smaller for factor with good specs, but wants android? I'm thinking about just holding out until the clicks communicator or the unihertz titan 2 elite comes out.

Op15 vs oppo find x9 pro?
Will op have any thermal issues in everyday use? Can anyone here, who used the phones, comment on the camera? I saw that mkbhd shat all over op15 and praised oppo, but when i compare samples of the main camera i almost always prefer op15 over oppo
Telephoto is better on oppo, but that is more of a gimmick to me
