51nb did it too but power management was completely fucked
>>
>>108271484
Holy shit, this is so cool!
>>
>>108271484
isn't part of the thinkpad appeal getting it functional without using a pre Intel ME cpu
>>
>>108271484
My excuse is I don't want this.
>>
could you get sued for that in the west?
>>
>>108271642
i think from your POV you're just buying a motherboard
No different from various other chinese SBC manufacturers
IDK if its possible for you to send your thinkpad for the mod.
>>
>>108271642
For what? selling a laptop that he owns?
>>
>>108271484
Those have been around for a while. They do look really cool but last time I semi-seriously looked into it they were all out of stock and honestly it's a lot of money to pay for fairly outdated hw.
>>
>>108271540
I thought about this too. They were shilling these tinpads because they had no intel me, you can install custom firmware etc.
>>
>>108271484
>made an Intel Core Ultra motherboard for an ancient ThinkPad
So he just gutted an ancient thinkpad for it's peripherals and connected them to the new board?
>>
>>108271642
you think lelnovo gives a fuck about some random guy manufacturing a custom board for an already existing chassis?
>>
>>108271484
I dont live in China where I would have access to fabrication companies making their own boards...
>>
>>108271910
not lenovo, but intel. Isn't chipset proprietary/ licensed?
>>
>>108271995
what license are you talking about? the only license is x86 which only applies to those wanting to make new processors with the instruction sets of that architecture. the dude making the boards for the old thinkpads is not making new cpus but using existing ones made by intel themselves, so there's nothing lawsuit worthy.

alright, seems like I've overestimated jews. It's a good heuristic but sometimes it is still false

>no coreboot/libreboot support
automatically shit

>>108271484
51nb has been working on this for 13 years, gaslight harder
>>
>>108271540
>without using a pre Intel ME cpu
Is this not a post Intel ME cpu, or am I missing something here
>>
>>108271484
>still no motherboard for the x301
>>
Wouldn't it be easier to make an island style keyboard and palm rest for a modern thinkpad like the x13 t14?
>>
>>108271484
Not the first time, replacement motherboards for old ThinkPads have been a thing for years.
>>
>>108271484
nice. think they can do something like this for later models?
>>
knew them few months ago. waiting them to release x220
>>
if you replace every part of a thinkpad is it still a thinkpad
>>
>>108276826
yes

>a lot of money to pay for fairly outdated hw.
What hardware?
If you swap out the motherboard and the display there's not a whole lot of old hardware left that could go wrong, lol.
Keyboard and clitmouse are fine and so is the case.

I miss my X220, I wish someone would be unafraid to make a chonky laptop again with extra buttons and do-dads. Everyone wants to add peripherals and macro pads to their desktop but when it comes to a laptop noooooooo volume must be controlled via Fn + Fx keys, can't have anything purpose built. Home, End? How about Fn + Up/Down? You want a rugged plastic housing on a high end laptop? Nah, he's aluminum, it's neater, isn't it? Removable battery? Literally go fuck yourself.

I have an Apple MacBook.

it's a clone of the original pcb

>>108271889
nah. just a simple clone.

>>108277258
>i own a computer so fucking shit that nobody wants to make a hardware clone of it or buy oem machines
cringe, rajeesh.
>>
>>108276868
I mean the replacement mainboard itself. Ultra 7 165H isn't exactly new. Other replacement MBs I've seen were also at least 2-3 years outdated like that.

I've been saying this for years
why do laptops need to be ultra portable soikaf ?
the only portability necessary is being able to fit in a bag, weight is a non issue, except if you are a commifornian fagman worker. oh wait I answered myself rn, that is the target audience of laptops now.
anyways, if you are white and straight you should be able to carry 5kgs of laptop and what, 10kg of misc stuff from your doorway to your car and from your car to your destination, why do we need to have a paperthin, unrepairable underperforming pos, so we dont break our soi twig arms trying to lift it ?
someone post that one /g/ approved thinkpad pls, I wanted to post it but can't find it.

>if you are white and straight you should be able to carry 5kgs of laptop and what, 10kg of misc stuff from your doorway to your car and from your car to your destination
kek

Yeah, I want something thicc, I want a good keyboard, I want a task light, I want all the ports, I don't want my laptop to look like it was designed in a wind tunnel, I want it to have the ergonomics of a brick or a Jeep Wrangler that's old enough to buy beer and I want to spill that beer on it and it keeps working or I can replace the part that broke. I want it to double as a blunt force instrument, I want my wife to complain about how old it looks and tell me to get rid of it. I want status LEDs that I don't know what half of them do and it lights up like a Christmas tree when I bootup.

But no, I can choose globohomo laptop one or two with a soldered stick of RAM, two USB-C ports, a trackpad with zero buttons and the same keyboard made as thin as possible with a cramped arrow cluster and it comes in black or aluminum.

Everything is gay now and it sucks.

>pic not entirely related, I'm not that crazy, I still want a good screen
