Is the SSD on these Macbooks non-removable like the RAM? That would explain the low price.
>>
>>108275301
Yes, I was going to attach the image of a version with the 512 GB SSD, but it seems that they're either out of stock or there are no sales on them, probably because an update to M5 is expected this week
>>
>>108275291
it's cheap rn because a better newer one is coming real soon. Can you call dumping of old stock 'value'? Well, guess that depends on the eye of beholder to be serious
>>
>>108275323
therein lies why its being shilled here, panic selling high before it fucking drops massive "value"
>>
Value brained retards. Just buy an rtx 6000 pro and enjoy it.
>but i want le $30,000,000.00 to spend when I am old, crippled, blind and deaf

An old $50 Dell laptop from Facebook marketplace.
>>
>>108275291
I'd buy it if it ran Linux and was half as large.

Asahi Linux
>>
>>108275964
Unsupported for the M4 chip
>>
I don't know, anon. Soldered ram and storage(?) at that price point would be a dealbreaker to me. But you do you.
>>

Is the author still alive? I thought they wigged out and quit (I can't believe this is real) reverse engineering the hardware since Apple refuses to publish documentation.
>>
>>108275291
Apple resell store: Yes you can for less
>>
>>108275981
Would 16/512 be okay if it cost $1099?

>>
>>108276799
You can do 15.3", and 24 or 32 GB in either 13.6" or 15.3"
>>
>>108275291
But I need to do more than just checking my email and watching gay porn. Does apple offer a solution with an actual OS?
>>
For those that criticize soldered ram just keep in mind that right now the text we have incentivizes soldered ram for performance issues, a lot of laptops now come with soldered ram for that same reason even PCs like the Framework does it.
>>
>>108276672
if you literally don't do anything other than watch videos, read PDFs, video calls, skim a spreadsheet, then you are genuinely better off with an iPad. it's more portable, costs less, turning your display 90° to portrait mode is very useful. no downside as long as you know what you actually need a computer for.
>>
>>108275291
You're right, the m4 is incredible, but /g/ is full of contrarian gnuspergs, so the very mention of apple gives them a meltie. They start grasping at straws about shit no one with a brain gives a fuck about.
>>
>>108277016
the only legitimate criticism is that it doesn't have the massive x86 software library
>>
>>108275291
There are none. But I wouldn't take 256gb ssd. On my 512gb - macos is 109,3gb total. I don't know wtf is exactly in "system data" - on work laptop it is even larger (109gb) + 29gb macos.
>System Data: Contains files that don’t fall into the categories listed here. This category primarily includes files and data used by the system, such as log files, caches, VM files and other runtime system resources. Also included are temporary files, fonts, app support files and plug-ins. You can’t manage the contents of this category. The contents are managed by macOS, and the category varies in size depending on the current state of your Mac. You can manage your data that falls outside the other categories using the Finder or the third-party apps that created it.

Why is Apple derangement syndrome so strong on this board? What's the reason?
>>
>>108277942
technical literacy
>>
>>108275291
Don't actually buy 256 GB
>>
>>108275871
I did that and fucking av1 codec filtered me :(
Now I when I download I have to make sure it's I'm hevc or my fucking quad core starts LARPing as a fighter jet. And no both the sexy dancing kind.

>>108277016
First here's your (you), faggot.
Second, when people argue that applel can do better it's not because they want to narrow the options to one manufacturer, it's because they want every manufacturer to expand it's options.
The limitations arbitrarily placed on applels devices are frustrating knowing that applel can actually build and offer a real computing device to satisfy would be customers.
Instead they pull some bullshit marketing to wrangle as many drooling normies into their gay overpriced ecosystem.
