Why are you not using Hyprland?

Not really convincing me with the video anon. That looks like the kind of thing I would have loved when I was 15 and wanted to be a hacker.

It won't tile Obsidan. It forces Obsidian, and many other Electron programs, into a floating window.
>Well, don't use Electron apps
If hyprland creates equivalent apps with UI stacks that hyprland can handle, I'll switch. But they don't so I'm stuck with mundane WMs that just work.

i was going to post the exact same thing. i was downloading all kinds of watch dogs apps when i was 12 because i thought they were real

You like a shitty Windows like UI instead? Hyprland and other tiled wm are about efficiency, not about looking cool.

>>108296436
It can tile obsidian. Not sure how you managed to fuck that up.

>>108296625
All lock applications have issues in all OS and most of the time it's hardware driver issues.

because I never saw and still don't see the point of tiling window managers
I got three monitors, don't need to squeeze any real estate out + some things are better left minimized + KDE can tile too
>>
>>108297197
>some things are better left minimized
just move it to a different workspace
>>
>>108296412
I use sway because I want my computer to be fast and present my programs immediately instead of wasting an hour a day playing stupid pointless animations like those.
Hyprland is just bloated slow and pointless to anyone actually using their computer instead of looking at it like a zoomer doom scrolling tick tock.

becase I have a MacBook and it just works and I'm not a tinker tranny

Niri is better in every way, thanks to the fact it's written by an actual engineer and not a drooling retard and his discord members.
>>
>>108297327
Yes. I expect a WM to be able to render programs that other WMs handle just fine. What a crazy expectation.

Because it sucks for productivity and mouse workflows.
You have to spend time making shit clickable.
I'd rather not spend hours to make my OS usable with normal pointer input.
>>
All the things I wanted from a tiling WM I just scripted myself with KDE.
>>
>>108300183
why
>>
>>108301453
I tried i3 and Sway and the configuration was too annoying. I also don't actually like tiling everything, I only need good workspace support. I can now do absolutely everything I want from a few python scripts, no more obscure configs, no learning curve, just code in a language I already know anyway.
>>
>>108296412
tried installing it on nixos, completely bricked it, not really bothered with learning more rn, but it does seem good.
>>
>>108296799
>efficiency
efficiency is not having to dick around for ages to rice out my work machine when i can just as easily use it out of the box.

all you fags parading your window managers can't fathom that people who actually do work on computers can live with slightly overlapping windows on their desktop. some even prefer it.

I don't want to receive Ads on my desktop about subscribing to a paid blog

The author is literally from Bolanda, give him a break. He probably doesn't want to clean toilets for 200EUR per month like the rest of his country. When someone sends Vaxry 10$, that is as much as the average Pole makes in an entire day. Of course he will put up such a notification! Who wouldn't in his position?

I am, I haven't messed with the alternative layouts yet much need to look into those I just saw the scrolling one came out in the last release.

I like my setup now have really grown into it really nice to have just like the automated stuff for pulling things up it's the first tiling wm i have, so many hotkeys.

the overlay thing w/ special workspaces is really nice.

I have 3 so far
super+m opens my messaging one that just collects all the messaging/chat stuff on one window
super+e opens my emacs journal/notes + todo list so it's always very quick to add stuff onto
super+l has my music player and pdf/ebook reader so I can just read or listen to music conveniently whenever i'm doing everything

is nice to just have those dedicated spaces for things I'll have open consistently so I can mostly just keep everything else closed

>>108297420
heard about this what are the actual benefits

>>108296436
>using electron apps
i used obsidian before switching to linux just learn emacs org-mode dude it's way better it's not even close
>>
>>108302148
it would be a paid blog by a noble transphobe doe.
>>
>>108302177
No. I don't think trivial things like a window manager should be serving advertisements. Should every other trivial package do the same?
>>
I have used it for like 6 months, but lately started experiencing some problems with Intellij IDEA. Went back to KDE (I had them both installed) and just configured it a little bit to be more keyboard oriented. Now I like it even more than tiling wms desu. Everything just works.

trivial? Hyprland was 120k lines of modern C++ code and that was 3 years ago!
>>

I prefer Wayland
>>
For me it's KDE
>>
>>108302232
Just because your shit is gay and bloated doesn't make the job of a window manager trivial
>>
>>108296412
Because I care more about the programs themselves than the methods to which I manage them. Setting the tiling on KDE so I can snap windows on my second screen to keep my widgets visible is all I need. I have a 32" monitor as my main, I don't even need a second screen I'm just an asshat who followed the multiscreen meme.
If anything I'm going to switch to Niri, but I don't really care.
>>
>>108302261
You don't decide what is bloated
>>
>>108302218
wm's are critical parts of people's userspace. If there's any desktop software that should get somebody's donation money, you;d think it'd be the wm.
>>
>>108304185
consistently using more resources and even having worse performance than your alternatives definitely counts for being called "bloated"
>>
>>108302115
this is a bit of a low iq mindset where you are incapable of seeing beyond what is right in front of you. saving time in the future and making things easier for yourself by learning something tedious now can be very helpful for people especially when they spend 8+ hours a day on their computer. its like saying why bother learning to touch type when you can type just fine hunting and pecking its very small minded.
>>
>>108302208
>just use something else
That's why Linux is never taken seriously.
>>
>>108306761
Don't worry, even most Linux users don't take hyprland ricers seriously.
>>
>>108296412
Because I do actual work on my machine and I'm not a performative zoomer.
