You can't just use Linux, you use GNU plus Linux.

Because unix, posix and linux are pieces of outdated shit, we need capabilities instead of ACL shit, we need application sandboxing to be natively integrated into the OS design, we need good kernels based on seL4

Don't tell me you don't love that shit

Doesn't Unix generally have a paid license?
I've used Unix through ssh before on an institutional server. It was fine, I guess.

Hey, I haven't watched this guy's channel in years. How are the Solaris servers coping with the aussie summer?

Because Linux is a hobby OS and with Unix you get enterprise quality.

Why aren't you tuning in?

I can. I don't want to. No hate on those who do.

because unix is dead

unix is not being developed anymore and wouldn't work on new hardware

What, the mainframe OS from like 1969? I guess you could. I don't know why you would.

Yet almost every server that isn't just hosting a hobby website is running on Linux.
Curious.

Linux is the new Unix
>>

During the internet boom, linux was used because it was cheap to license, unix was always the quality choice. Obviously now things are different.

*cheaper to (literally free)

The free Unix has some limitations, that I don't want to deal with. I already slightly nerf myself by running Linux. (Kernel Malware Games for example)

And the non free Unix is closed source and only comes bundled with overpriced hardware and a walled garden.

maybe I can. I never tried.

I should spin up a freebsd VM, but I don't have a good reason to. What does BSD offer that I should give a fuck about at all?

Use case?
