Typical flamewar bait image in the OP. stop lying troll OP. both android and ios are being held back by age verification laws. no amount of coping and lying will change this until the laws change.

Typical Spammin' Sanjay lying in his troll posts because he can't handle the reality that Apple is a spyware company. The truth is UK law only forces APP-MAKERS like Discord, Reddit, X, Facebook, Instagram to verify users because of all the CP on their platforms.
Apple just saw it as the perfect opportunity to enforce mass surveillance at the OS level and passed the blame onto the UK.

Android has age verifications too. No reason to lie on a technology board. We all have access to the same Internet lol and we can find the info ourselves. Do you really think spg is the one news source for the entire world?

If by "out of the box" you mean after debloating then yeah it's fine. I've been on HyperOS 3 for a few weeks now. Bought a phone despite people warning me about Xiaomi's OS being dogwater. I don't really have any complaints other than Firefox tabs randomly being killed. It seems to literally only happen in Firefox. It doesn't happen on forks like Fennec or whatnot. No idea what's going on there. I've only been on it for a few weeks though. Was on a really old LineageOS version prior to that. I also have an old iPhone that still gets the latest iOS updates, but I've never really used it as my daily driver. I don't feel like it's a worse experience than anything else I've used prior to be honest. Not really sure what people were bitching about.

I'm also on HyperOs 3, and honestly I don't have any complaints about it. Everything works fine for me. It's really comfy desu.
The only debloating I did was uninstalling some apps like netflix, Facebook, etc. which were on the phone by default. It took around 1 minute. I also turned off the Gemini shortcut.

It can emulate and run up to switch right? I mostly wanna get new phones to play the 3ds monster hunters with my family lan party style, though I won't be mad if it can also run arknights endfield and stuff like that too.

I snagged a Poco X8 Pro Max and I'm very happy with it. Debloating was marginally more annoying than usual but still only took a few minutes. I have a Samsung A-series phone. I'm happy with it. I wanted an affordable phone which could do standard smartphone tasks - calls, texts, email, online banking, photos (as long as the quality is good enough, it doesn't need to be the absolute best). Another good thing is that this phone gets 6 years of security updates from the date of release. Other affordable smartphones on the market usually only get 2 or 3 years of security updates.

if you make fun of Apple for being involved in india, than the same applies for android which is significantly more involved in india than apple.
even oneplus left india and oneplus is in the shut down phase as of march 31st; so why wasnt india able to save them? oneplus said they will operate outta china only, guess they realized how bad they were doing in india production and quality skilled labor wise. shall I start posting all the bugs and issues android has since its impossible for the os to be optimized on all the brands and models of android available? fot example the red magic 11 pro I have and the super glitchy system on it or the oneplus 15 i have giving me notifications from yesterday. what will be the cope after?

Thanks for the inputs, the other models aren't available here
I've got to admit the S24+ is really tempting, found a refurbished 512GB option that is supposedly in excellent condition for $540 (most are around ~$580 or higher), but then again it's Exynos and it seems I would be trading a considerable amount of power for a feature I might not get much from
So I'm just going to settle for a safer(?) route with a new 512GB Poco F7
Cheapest listing I found is at $610, normally I'd wait since apparently they also got a price hike because of the RAM inflation, but I'm kind of in a hurry, this A11 is so goddamn slow I'm losing my mind
(The prices look absurd because of currency conversion, that's how much I suffer in my shithole)

Same, my A25's pretty good for my needs, a cheap smartphone with 8GB of RAM, headphone jack and micro SD slot in 2025/26, my only issues are the bezels, chin and waterdrop notch, which is ridiculous in 2025/26 even for this midranger/budget market, and Exynos, not for the sake of hating on it just for being Exynos, but because it overheats like a bastard.

I have 256GB and use anywhere between 35-60GB of the storage. But most of my data is stored/comes from my home servers and private cloud instances. It doesn't persist for long on my phone's local storage. I'd say, purely for apps 256GB will be enough.

I don't know even know which phone to buy anymore. Every time I get one, even if I like it, I start looking for something else. Clearly, I just want that dopamine hit of a new toy but I can't get over it.

Samsung Galaxy A17. Here's a refurbished one for $180 CAD

I have the Galaxy A26 and I'm very happy with it. It does all the smartphone essentials I need (email, web browsing, taking photos) and it has 6 years of security upgrades, unlike other cheap smartphones which might only have 2 or 3 years of security upgrades.
I haven't tried the Galaxy A17 but he said he could only spend $200 CAD, and that one comes under that budget. The A17 also has 6 years of security updates, although it's now about 5.5 years because it was released a few months ago. I imagine it's a perfectly adequate phone for everyday smartphone functions.

Doesn't seem like a good deal
I know they reduce the price after couple of month... What's the point of the A series, when it is so expensive?

Regarding the news of oneplus closing or some shit, is the OnePlus Nord 5 still worth buying? It’s pretty much the only phone in my 500$ budget with decent/good gaming performance and 512GB storage.
Will OPPO give future updates and such? What will happen exactly?

Should I buy a stylus 2024 for $160?
I was willing to spend up to like $300 but the cmf phone 2 pro is out of stock, Infinix GT 30 seems interesting but idk how useful a gaymer phone is and it ships out of fucking punjab so it seems like a scam. People were mentioning Poco 7's or some variant thereoff but they are over $300 as far as I see.

i havent changed launcher on android phone since jellybean and even then i didnt dd it, i just did it to see what it was (it was yank solution to non-problem). cant imagine doing it now i always preferred android for its openness and options, but as i got older and more importantly, got a job and started making money my old self slowly started to become a memory
when i was 12 i would spend months ricing out desktop, nowadays i cant be bothered to change a wallpaper on my phone. even now repatching revaned has become a chore even tho it is once every blue moon, let alone in half a year when they fuck it further

total noob here. i got an old phone. what OS do i put onto it if i jailbreak?
>usecase
take photos, call people and browse teh internetz
>>
>>
>>
>>108534786
Samsung and Apple are pretty much just as terrible just in different ways so go with whatever you want. Samsung definitely has more features, but a bloated skin on top of Android. iPhone doesn't have true multitasking.
>>108534808
>jailbreak
>what OS
you don't. You only jailbreak iPhones, because iPhone users are in jail (walled garden). There are no custom operating systems available iirc.
You unlock the bootloader on an Android device, in which case it may be possible to flash a custom ROM. It is dependent on the phone so you'd have to tell us which one you got.
>>
>>108534818
that's just you opinion once again, just because you only use a web browser doesn't mean everyone else with a flagship will as well. You can't even logically explain with facts why your old phone is better and now you're making up silly stories that only fit your purpose. You therefore can't provide a valid reason that isn't opinion, so you are wrong.
>>
>>
>>
>>108534873
yeah that's the resident troll, ignore and report. Note how he obviously samefags to appear to be more than just one person. Always right after one another. Doesn't get 4chan, poor retard.
If you are happy with the OnePlus 7T and it works for your use case, and you are up to date on security patches, nothing really else to do. There's lots of custom ROMs available for it too, which aren't available for newer phones. Hell, the Pixel 3A is a GOAT for this.
>>
>>
>>108534873
>Calls anons shills for refusing to accept a 5-year-old smartphone is better than a modern brand new flagship
You just can't handle the truth and you got called out you 5-year-old phone is not on the same level as a modern-day flagship and your cope of "oh well I only use a web browser therefore everybody else does too" is not a reason for it being better or a purpose that works for everyone else's use and purpose of a new flagship so your argument is flawed. what are you like 13 years old?
>>
>>108534832
>>108534807
I'm kinda traumatised with samsungs after the s22 battery, i'd go for an iphone, either save 2 more months to buy a new lavender 17, or a 15 pro max refurbished next month
>>
>>108534786
do you prefer android over ios?
do you have big hands?
do you value bigger screen over the ergonomics and ease of using one handed?
will you use stylus more than 1 hour a day?
if your answer is yes on most of these, then go for s24 ultra. personally, my pick would be 15PM for better battery, form factor, build quality, design and ease of reselling
you really cant go wrong here, just pick whichever you want more. both are great for the money and miles and miles better than mid rangers of 2026 and even more better than ancient flagships like s7 edge, op7 pro and their budget options like delulu anons' 7t
>>
>>
Can't explain why a 5 year old smartphone is better than modern flagships, because it's not possible. That was the lying anons own words saying a old antiquated smartphone is better than a brand new flagship and they can't back it up. Not my fault. The tremendous amount of opinion posting instead of the actual truth won't change that. Facts will always be respected on this technology board over your false feelings. You're new here if you think otherwise.

good stuff, bro I’m actually one of the people that respects any type of anon that posts like you do. always post about multiple different brands and just post the truth with sources unlike many of the liars in here.
So in this thread, we have people lying and saying SIC batteries are good and now we have people claiming five year-old devices supposedly have a better SOC than a modern flagship. And the people that are actually posting the truth in the thread are being called out by the liars; absolutely pathetic.

>battery health percentage
who cares about this? just use your phone like a disposable item that it is. when it stops lasting long enough for you either replace the batter or sell it and buy a new one. why obsess over a mostly arbitrary estimation
i blame apple for this. sure there were 3rd party apps for android but nobody used them until apple popularized battery health. other day i was doom scrooling social media and came upon a literal homosexual REEing about iphones battery .....apparently "Battery health" on his 17PM after 30 or 40 cycles was at 96%. he claimed it was faulty and tried to replace it for a brand new one. store tok it for diagnostics and passed it to partner repair shop who basically said there was nothing wrong with the phone and it was given back to the customer. that is when he completely lost it. he claimed the incompetent repair man used his phone as personal property while it was in for repairs. his proof was 3 more cycle on the battery than before it was sent in and about dozen of before and after pictures with some earwax-looking dirt in speaker mesh. now you cant make this shit up, his phone was completely wrapped in transparent scotch tape except for the display which had tempered glass screen protector, speaker and mic mesh which were exposed and camera lenses on the back. as if that wasnt enough, it was put in a rugged protective case with plastic cover over the rear camera lenses.
post gained traction so many people commented, most told him he was a nutcase, and some of them posted screenshots of battery healt at 100 or 99% after more than 100 cycles which made him even more butthurt. anyone who is slave to something material, especially so disposable is fucking pathetic

Then use iOS and either use a browser with adblock to view YT or enjoy the ads. Or get a Linux phone. Or use Android with Smartube (developer was hacked btw) or fuck around with Revanced. Either way you suffer for your free lunch.
Android is made by Google, so is YouTube. Perhaps use something else if you "hate" Google. Like iOS and Odysee or something like that. You aren't hurting Google by keeping YT the most popular site for videos, besides leeching bandwidth.
