>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is an invite-only torrent website. Each member shares common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

I'm not interested in getting into some long debate. I have a breadth of interests that I shift between over months/years. I may go a couple years without watching anime then watch nothing else for months. I also have a social life, die mad about it.

What is the difference between no-life collecting anime bd rips that you don't even rewatch (after watching subsplease when it aired) and just obsess over encode quality; and collecting trackers for the sake of collecting trackers?

why do the punks at slr release x265 encoded videos for their streams and fuck huge gpu encoded "master studio" files.
If they just doubled the stream bitrate for the "master file" and encoded with x265 it would look just as good.

Because that costs real money and takes more time to get access to if you live in a third world country. Not that scene isn't mostly WEB-DL shit now too and competitive with p2p for it.
>>
Come to think of it the only people I met from a country I would consider 3rd world when I was in the scene were from Brazil. Some European countries have people who are just as retarded as the average third worlder who would fail at trackers but that's another story.

Hey /ptg/ I'm an idiot and fucked up, please help me out.
>tired of streaming abos (and still not being able to watch half the shit I want)
>tired of video games being mediocre but being expensive af (like 80 yurop credits for Silent Hill f)
>everything getting more expensive while the economy is ass and the pay raise I was supposed to get was declined too
>decide to get into Private Trackers
>start with a TL acc
>pay for half a year of mullvad
>get accepted into a bigger more exclusive tracker
>realize mullvad doesnt have portforwarding anymore and the tracker requires me to have it
What do?
Best would be a seed box no?
But I didnt want to spend much money on this as I started doing this to save money.
It would be good to pay with crypto for the seedbox I guess? Never did that before either.

people usually use vpns while torrenting to not get letters in the mail about copyright violations, with a private tracker it's a lot harder to get those letters

Me.
My ISP has me on my "last strike" before they turn off my service.
They already turned off my service once and made me watch a 10-20 minute video on how to not be a pirate before they'd turn my service back on, so ever since then i've had a VPN.
No issues since then.
Though most people don't even end up using their VPN properly and end up leaking their real IP anyway.

FUCKHEADED FAGGOT, I don't give a fuck what settings you use.
Libtorrent 1.2 has a KNOWN memory leak issue in windows, I don't give a fuck what else you want to say about this unless it's apologizing for being an ass headed faggot.
You can MITIGATE that leak with settings in your client, but the leak itself exists in any libtorrent 1.2 implementation in windows. QBittorrent, Deluge, etc.

Meh, once it's set up and configured properly, it just runs.
I have mine set up super strictly so it can't accidentally leak my IP and I keep a log file so I can monitor and make sure it's working right and i've got months of logs showing it just werks.
Pic related, my ISPs internet went down for a minute or two the other day and my script noticed within a few seconds and was already trying to rebind the interface, once the connection was back up, the interface was bound and settings applied to my torrent client.
All without me having to manually do anything and with zero chance of an IP leak. Though I admit my setup is far more autistic than most people need.
>>
>>108517523
Because deluge doesn't like virtual network interfaces, even giving it the VPN interface hardware name (wgpia0) and it refuses to bind unless I give it the exact active interface IP, which changes anytime the VPN disconnects/reconnects.
So yeah I just have my script monitor the interface IP and forwarded port being used by the VPN client, and then have it update my deluge client settings to match anytime it changes.
I'm sure there are other ways I could've done it, but it was a neat coding project that I enjoyed putting together, and it has been working great since the start of the year.

MAM has what 99.999% of people need. If you genuinely are the kind of person that needs TiK just make friends on MAM & someone will notice you're a fucking weirdo reading weirdo books and probably help you get in.
I was friends with someone on BiB through a different tracker & he said the same thing, very few people need it. The main advantage of the tracker is that they apparently have some kind of exploit to access a widely used elibrary system and get any book that's in any library using said system. Unless you get to know the people using that method, you won't be informed of it, but if you make any request for a book that's in those libraries one of them will immediately fill it so you don't really need it.
>>
>>
>>108522958
>they apparently have some kind of exploit to access a widely used elibrary system and get any book that's in any library using said system
it's just requiring everyone having access to their local/university elibrary and a fairly standard but anal retentive DRM stripping guide. Enough users enough places, a tough economy and a basic request system is all it is. There is a userscript to check if anything in the requests system is available in your e-library.
>probably help you get in
currently impossible, they aren't even re-enabling disabled users

>>108531009
You would need to ask the encoder for their exact reasoning if it's not stated. Uploading it could get you in trouble with HDB if you're on both trackers. PTP won't go out of their way to rat you out but if it's easy enough to connect the dots you could have issues with HDB.
>>
>>108531009
Some HDB internals like EA have a personal beef with PTP staff. i've seen some TayTO uploads also say not to upload their stuff to PTP and I know they share encoders with DON so it's probably just another guy that has beef with PTP.

>/ptg/ is dead unlike ptp
It makes sense, getting into trackers today generally just isn't worth the squeeze for most people, the time/effort you'll spend figuring out the rules/culture and the technical side, then the time/effort spent getting anywhere on the "entry" trackers before you can get into any actual trackers people want to be in, and the truly "end game" trackers are more or less impossible to get into unless you're going to spend a ton of time/effort/money on making connections and getting the right user class on the right trackers to get into those places.
For example if you want HDbits/BTN you could be spending years and still not get in, there are people who have been active on trackers for a decade and still aren't in them despite trying. Even PTP/AB are harder to get into these days and could take months or years of dedicated effort.

> the traditional "scene" lost.
For games and a lot of the video content, very true, but there's not really any p2p equivalent yet for several places that the scene covers. Such as genres like pc software and comics. Or some of the other useful scene infrastructure like predbs and permanently kept info on what releases get nuked or updated. Plus basically everything that touches the scene gets permanently archived with a pretty high amount of copies whereas the releases from other places don't tend to spread as far.

>Or some of the other useful scene infrastructure like predbs and permanently kept info on what releases get nuked or updated. Plus basically everything that touches the scene gets permanently archived with a pretty high amount of copies whereas the releases from other places don't tend to spread as far.
Don't forget the dupechecks. There are so many duplicate, redundant and repacked releases produced by p2p it cripples the whole ecosystem

Well consider that all of this fucking shit needs archiving and it's actual work. If you want to avoid the fruits of their labor and don't think they are doing a good job it's easy enough to acquire the shit from stream ripping sites. Then you can clean up the tags however you want.

Can one use a seedbox as some kind of vpn with accelerated speed to seed from the HDDs at home?
