My old Redmi Note 10 Pro display went dead so I decided to get a new phone after 5 years. What the FUCK is going on in 2026? Almost no phones with headphone jacks, power button fingerprint readers, sd cards etc. I don't care about MUH FASTER CPU (gaming on a phone is peak cringe) or MUH BEST CAMERA, I want actual features that I use daily for a modest price (fuck off Xperia 1). The only phone I could get to fit all the criteria was the Moto G56, no LineageOS support and stock Android is kinda ugly, but it's cheap and decent imo.
>>
>>108552359
Use the Phone Finder in OP
spoilers: Sony is the only brand with those antique features. Luckily they usually have decent LineageOS support.
Cheap (overpriced) option: Xperia 10 VII
Expensive (overpriced) option: Xperia 1 VII
Previous generations had a Xperia 5 variant but not the VII generation. It was just a bit smaller than the 1.

Because SONY isn't SECURE™ enough so GrapheneOS and Daniel Micay had to personally harass every Sony employee while simultaneously claiming they were the ones being harassed.
Informative and unfortunate.

No idea what that anon is talking about. It's still a little too soon to tell. SOT on my OP 13 isn't quite what it used to be, but battery health is at 99% almost a year into having it and I use the fast charging all the time. I'm more curious how first gen Si/C batteries from a few years ago are holding up today.

Europe, need a smartphone under 600 euros for my mom. She cares about the camera and good screen. Battery and performance are low on the list since she only uses youtube and whatsapp and stays home most of the time. Should I just get a pixel? So hard to figure out what camera is the best. Pixel 9? Pixel 10a?

The 9 and 10a do not have a telephoto lens, but the regular 10 does, along with the Pro models obviously. Might be over your budget though. It makes a huge difference, you really notice it if you don't have it.

Smartphones hit a wall
They can not be made better within the size constraints they make them except for a bigger more ridiculous camera bump on the back, I would not spend any money on a new phone if I didn't absolutely need another one

Pixels look decent to me although I've never tried one in person. Alternatively there's Samsung. E.g. you can get the Galaxy A57 for 530 euros:

my reason was simple, i buy an iphone just because i want an iphone

I have an unlocked S23ultra that an old job bought me years ago. I just broke the screen from having it in a bag with hard objects, again, exactly one year out of warranty from the last screen repair and battery replacement. It's like $300, do I bite the bullet and pay for it because this is still a really good pone and I'm too autistic to deal with it cracked.

last august i upgraded from an a52 5g to a s25+. it works, it's fine. the camera is real nice and it's a good bit faster, but is that it? am i missing some killer feature that justifies the 1000eur price tag? it's not really about the money my old phone was almost as good as this one for a quarter of the price.

What type of low tier bait post is this? I can import any phone I want in the United States and I can pick multiple different carriers that it's going to work on. My Red Magic 11 Pro and OnePlus 15 both were purchased directly from their official websites that shipped from local US warehouses. Of course any brand would wanna tap into our huge consumer market. Do you think people only go to carrier stores to buy their phones? Do you think people in the United States can't shop online? Also poco is a mid ranger masking as something better, of course many of us on a tech enthusiast board prefer gadgets that are WAY better.

OnePlus is available at local Best Buy stores here in the USA and like I said before we can order any phone online and it works on our cellular networks. That other anon said only Apple and Samsung phones are available in the USA which is wrong on so many levels. Everyone mostly shops online, physical stores are antiquated.

Any flip phones that are actually dumbphones, or as close to being dumbphones as they come in the present market? From what I've seen, the most minimal a "dumbphone" will get is just running KaiOS, which I've heard is a piece of shit.
I don't care for applications or any features, I just want a good, reliable, inexpensive, high-capacity battery (time scale of days) flip phone with good call quality. Preferably able to network unlock and root it too. I made a note of it being inexpensive, but I also don't want it feeling liek a cheap piece of Temu plastic chinkshit; I just don't want to overpay for what seems to be a "privilege" to use anything other than a smartphone. I'm not looking for distraction-free gimmicky bullshit.
I believe it's worth noting that I'm an Amerishart, and that my network doesn't have coverage for anything lower than 4G, so older models that would have sufficed, are out of the question.
For those with experience, what are the TCL Flip 3/4, or Nokia 2720 like?
>>
>>
>>108563078
With that last point, I should note that I'm looking for adjacent/modern counterparts to those models, as I'm also concerned with security; anything that isn't receiving security updates is off the table.

I have always greatly disliked smartphones, choosing to only use normal phones from yesteryear since 2013 due to having a bad experiences with them but about 6 months ago i bought a used first gen iphone se on a whim and rather liked it but I would like to know if there is a android phone which is similar because this whole IOS thing is rather limiting.
so what I would be looking for is something with rather good audio playback a relatively small size and full metal body. I tried looking for such a device through the methods espoused within the OP but they don't really allow me to filter for good audio playback do any of you have experiences with devices which could be of aid to me?

Firstly, my country has better relations with the US than it does with China, so Chinese intelligence services would probably regard me and people from my country with more contempt.
Secondly, I reckon China would be more likely to do something like steal my financial details or money. Look at the WannaCry ransomware deployed by North Korea (an ally of China) in 2017. The purpose of that malware was to get money.
I dislike quite a lot of things about America and yeah, maybe the NSA is harvesting some of my personal data right now. Fine, whatever. I'm not so bothered if a government agent is reading my text messages. I'm more worried about my personal details being used for identity fraud, or to steal my money, and I think the US is less likely to do those things than China.

No acpi/uefi equivalent meaning that each OS build needs to be specifically tailored for each set of hardware. It's never gonna get fixed since Qualcomm and Samsung LSI charges money to phone makers for newer Android builds so there's a monetary incentive to not make a standardized firmware interface for Android/Linux to talk to

I love class actions suits. Enjoy your $0.80
Breakdown of the $135 Million Settlement Fund (as Proposed)
Attorneys' fees: Up to $39,825,000.
Attorneys' expenses/litigation costs: Up to $750,000.
Settlement administration costs (notice, claims processing, etc.): Up to $1,500,000.
Service awards to the named class representatives (plaintiffs): Up to $25,000 each (total ~$75,000 for the three representatives).
Taxes on the fund.
Remaining net amount: Distributed pro rata (equally) to eligible claiming class members (capped at $100 per person, but likely much less depending on claims rate—estimates often suggest a few dollars or less per person if participation is high).
The $135 million is a non-reversionary "all-in" fund paid by Google, meaning all these items (including fees) come out of it before any money goes to the ~100 million eligible U.S. Android users (excluding California residents covered by a separate settlement).

I have an S23 at the moment
I don't usually find faults with it, it's generally stable software wise. I can't find a fault really other than battery dying a bit faster than I would want. But the camera could be better. I do have a digital camera but honestly with how little of a hobby that has become (photography) for me, maybe I will just sell it.
Anyways I've seen a decent deal on the Xiaomi 17. Which seems to have also a pretty good set of cameras and apparently much better performance.
How is Xiaomi's new OS these days? is it still janky? My experience with Xiaomi is limited to an old Mi Max 3 and Mi Pad 4, both fucking terrible software wise. But maybe nowadays their stuff has gotten better.
I'm used to the samshit ecosystem but all I really use from them is the game hub (which lets me mute games specifically) and I have the samsung buds 3 pro which have some extra features there.

I personally wouldn't upgrade until you can't do shit because the phone is too old, I just went from an S22 to an S26, and there's literally no difference, the only reason I upgraded is because AT&T basically gave me a credit for a free phone, but that S22 was a straight up beast, I would wait till Android 18 phones come out because the S23 would then be technically out of date and in need of replacment because it only goes up to Android 17

what are people even doing on their phones that someone needs to make a video about living with a "simpler" iPhone (16e and Air) instead of iPhone 29 MAX PRO TURBO
nicer camera is fine but most people aren't good photographers skill-wise so it's wasted. I am puzzled.

not really, just retarded
it's a genuine question, a normie does not use most features that are not in the 16e so what's the reason these videos are popular. this place is more likely to have power users so likely to have an answer
(if they want they can buy 100 max pro turbos and use them to send texts for all i care)

I want to buy a pixel with oem unlocking. So far I've bought two, one on ebay and one on amazon. Both were 7 pro that were factory unlocked. When I enabled developer mode, the oem unlocking feature was greyed out. One had a regulatory label GE2AE, which meant it was a verizon phone.
How do I buy a pixel and know before I buy that I can use the oem unlock feature?

I keep wanting to buy a Pixel (10 Pro) but then compared to other phones it is just objectively an inferior phone. Inferior performance/SoC, inferior battery/charging speed, inferior videography. The only good thing is the software, speedy updates and photos. Anyone care to change my mind?

Well, efficiency is great. I'd like an A19 Pro with Linux and/or Android. Less heat usually too. But with the totally not fanboy (who owns Android phones so they can't be a fanboy) constantly cherry picking comparisons where iPhone COINCIDENTALLY wins the comparison and then posting it three times since Friday is just sad.

I'm on an android phone.
Is there a way to selectively turn off internet access to one specific app?
I just want one app to not be able to connect to the internet at all and that's it. It's using up too much data every month and I suspect it doesn't need to be connected to the internet to work in the first place.

Tech support threads should be posted to >>>/wsr/ as per the sticky. It's only insanity when you assume the world only works the way you want it to. MATURE Adults don't have this issue.
