PC building fomo sure is a sad feeling to have. If the timeline was a year or two ahead of the current schedule I would have probably seriously considered having my big upgrade be a return to Intel, especially if the cost-efficient Arrow Lake Refresh chips also happened. But having a 9800x3d means I will likely be stuck with this for the next decade.

Also the rectangle IHS is more aesthetic than the jigsaw square.

looks fine overall, definitely a computer.
As I'm sure you know the single 16gb stick will work for now if that's what you have to do to save some money but you really want more.
If you can get a 7600x for like -100 euro monies you can get some money back there, going to a 9700 isn't going to make a huge difference in video gaymes at 1440p.
>>
>108602434
And here we see the kind of dogshit no nuance advice you can expect from the fake troll njudea intelaviv pc building general. What CPU he needs depends entirely on what kind of games he wants to play. If you want to play competitive PVP games like CS at high refresh rate with good frame pacing there is a case to be made he should stretch his budget and get a 9800x3d which is basically mandatory for these games. If anyone else wants more real helpful advice like this come to the real /pcbg/ thread below:

This is a new low even for this general. Even DLSS schizo had a rhyme and a reason to his madness. You're genuinely one of the most ignorant posters I've seen here yet. I know for a fact you're a 30 YO+ millenial that just plays single player games all day. Anyone else who plays multiplayer fps regularly would call you a fucking moron too.

Don't wanna get doxxed and my email hacked like what happened to dlss schizo so that's a no. >>108602371
What do u need the ryzen 7 for ? Just get a 9600x ( if u plan on gaming u won't need more )
Buy dual channel ram unless u plan on buying another 16gig stick
Videocard is fine or with the money saved from the cpu and a little extra buy a 5070 or 5070 ti but lean towards the more vram. If u can't or don't feel like it u can stay with the xt to buy more ram.

Just as an example RE:requiem fully maxed out used 23gb ram and 13gb vram on 4k on my system

Is Intel back?
>>
>>108603644
AM4/5 still have a huge 'no place' zone around the CPU for heatsink clearance, they aren't allowed to have stuff right next to the socket like a laptop.
So why not just make the CPU package larger? Then they could have all the MLCCs AND an IHS without stupid cutouts. It's not like there isn't space.
>>
>>108603733
they are coming back in Q4 2026
>>108603741
no reason other than that would cost $0.04 more

Intel won't ever be back imo.
Sick of the 1 generation per socket shit, I don't believe them when they say they new socket will last 4 generations, since they'll probably just release binned parts as a 'new generation' again.
They fucked me with LGA1700 for the last time. Fuck intelaviv forever.
>>
I just hope the competition will lead AMD to hire somebody that can design IHSs.
AM5 having an IHS that increases the chip's temps by like 20 degrees over running delidded is fucking nuts.

>what's wrong with it
It kind of looks like it would melt if you left cinnebench on repeat for 2 hours. Probably not an actual issue, if it throttles you can buy heatsinks off the internet. Alternatively z690 boards even if they're ddr4 are usually still like $70/$80 used, that + a 14600k with just the most simple tweaks is an easy +10/15% to performance

Also if you're buying everything online just go to ddr5, there's no point sticking with ddr4 at that point.

Hello. Sorry, I don’t know the technical terms but i need some help before i end it all.

AMD RYZEN 7 5800X3D 8-CORE PROCESSOR

32G RAM

NVIDEA GEFORCE RTX 5070 Ti

Tonight my pc started randomly crashing mid game ( Overwatch and Where Winds Meet).

The screens freeze and theres that GGGGG sound (GPU crash?). The last time it crashed the sound wasnt even there. Just the frozen screens and nothing works. When i restart it takes a long ass time and i sometimes need to resort to pushing the button on the back of the case and then starting up again.

This has happened maybe 3 times before in the span of 6 months but never like this. All drivers are up to date as far as I can see.

For 12 years i had a man that works in tech that handled any issues but now i dont so kindly explain to me like im 5.

Any help / advice would be appreciated, thanks so much.

Buy used 2x16 ram and a new 5060ti 16GB instead. Find a mobo with more slots for future upgrades. Ram almost never degrades and the most common reason for reselling is moving to ddr5 or larger modules. I recently bought 2 used 16gb's for 50$ each, works great. You shouldn't be paying that much for a similar setup to the one i'm upgrading from.

I can keep the specs basically the same but with a few GPU options. The highest my poorfag wallet allows is replacing the GTX1660S with a Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 Gaming OC 8GB, making the final build cost around $1010, or downgrade a little and get XFX Radeon RX 6650 XT Speedster Swft210, 8GB, $980 final.

It only makes sense if you're working with ai. Basically a complete waste of money for anything other than ai and light video editing.

When you buy a 5060ti 16gb You're just paying to have 8gb of vram sit there and do nothing. The 5070 doesn't need 16gb, but for some reason they thought it was a good idea to slap it on a 5060ti.

Embrace manhood. I built a display cabinet, put my heavy duty pc inside, cut a small hole on the back, installed filter and a simple 120mm exit fan. Zero dust. During summer it cools, during winter it heats the room, because its easier to keep microclimate around your pc stable, separated. Zero dust so the heatsinks are always shiny and chrome.

You should undervolt the CPU & GPU to reduce the amount of heat they generate if you haven't done so.
That will have a bigger impact on reducing case temps compared to playing around with fan layout.
Set stricter power limits for the GPU as well, around 85% of the stock power draw.

it's around 40-50c most of the time, so far only spiderman remastered has bumped it up to 79c

That extra 1 GB might unironically help a little bit because retarded devs try to target 8 GB with presets and overshoot by 500 MB. A 12 GB 5060 Ti (4x 3 GB modules to replace the 4x 2 GB modules) would have been perfect. Instead consumers got 3x 3 GB modules. Obviously from a RAM shortage perspective (aka reality) this makes sense but it would be nice to dream about better days where a 12 GB 5060 Ti exists for the poorfags

To get decent path tracing performance, you really need a 4090 + 10%. Why can't it be disabled? This is still an obstacle in 2026 and it's BULLSHIT.
Where is this logic located that it can't even be defeated by the likes of ASUS, MSI, etc who actually order the damn RAW panels from Samsung & LG? They've been dicking around with EOTF Boosters for years to try and working around the factory handicaps but why they just drive the panels the exact ways they want to? We know LG/Samsung are artificially limiting the brightness of OLED monitors compared to how they drive the TVs they cut from the same motherglass so what technically is stopping someone from offering an "Overclocked/Fully Unlocked" OLED monitor to consumers with the actually maximum brightness they are capable of at 100% Fullscreen with no dimming. Ever. Burn-in risk be damned.

With modern games you are only going to hit these framerates with framegen too. Only esports will ever go up to ridiculous heights natively like 400+hz.

Okay broskis, I might finally be able to pull the trigger on building my first pc, ill be going for a AMD 9070 XT most likely, unless I can find a cheaper 5070 ti,
I'm doing my homework researching stuff, but I need help choosing a mobo, I just cant understand where's the number/setting/thing that would either mean im over compensating or going to low and causing a bottleneck
I do know there's a difference between intel and amd mobos, but that's it, wifi not really required and I might end up with 2 monitors, in the long run, so any recommendations would be nice, thanks in advance
>>
wonder if intel realizes if they took bartlett lake and filled the e-cores space with l3 cache they would have a very popular gaming cpu on par with the 9800x3d that uses ddr4 and would put the company back on the map, but I guess having a religous fanatic followed by a money grubbing greedy chink as CEOs is indicative of a company that cannot make good decisions

1. Go for modern AM5 (B850, X870, X870E) because the PCIe slots (graphics, NVMEs, any extension cards) will have v5.0 spec and be future proof. Older boards aren't worth the small amount of money saved.
2. If buying Intel, just the latest LGA1851 for similar reasons. Core Ultras over 14th gen because the new 250K and 270Ks are really top of the line in value as long as you can find them.
3. None of the above will have problems with "overcompensating" or "bottlenecking" any component, not even on the budget models. You're asking for motherboard suggestions so you aren't a pro overclocker who could potentially run into any such problems.

the first top fan should be pushing air down and you should buy a third fan for the cpu cooler, it's cheap
>>

no the low profile one anon linked here. i'd never fit a hr-10 in there.
>>108608960

I was considering that, or one fan blowing directly in If i shuffle the cables from the psu around there;s space for another 120mm on the side rail.
>>
>>108613576
thats how noctua tells us it should be, but they also say you buy the little bracket to make the fan deeper
>>
>>108613587
if you look back to my original pic, that big chunky boy of a card is a blowthrough type, does the noctua idea still work? I cannot into airflow physics
>>
Gemini recommends:
flip the rear exhaust to intake, flip the direction of both cpu fans, mesh filter the newly flipped intake.

place another 120mm fan on the side rail aligned with the gpu backplate cutout to intercept the blowthrough from the gpu fans, leave top and bottom as they are.

Is Gemini en point or on crack?

That's the Ryzen Experience
7600x was my first ryzen i was surprised to see idle 39 then jump to 49-53 when opening the browser.
i decided to undervolt but ultimately replaced it with 9600x that idles on 37 and does not hit 52c not even in games (same exact cooler as u have)

I'd probably get a budget motherboard made by mainstream AIBs for the more reliable BIOS.

Memory, the Chinese have been harvesting memory modules from scrap PCs.
The very cheap memory set you buy may not have identical memory sticks (basically forget about OCing).

so they essentially killed it in favor of m.2? i dont understand, most mobos only have 1 or 2 m.2 slots, and they still come with many satas.
>>108614600
my mobo already has a m.2. i was thinking of putting an ssd in my pc for my brother to use, so that in the future he can use it in another computer (laptop), but most laptops don't accept them anymore. so the best choice would be a 2230 inside a sata adapter? that way i could move it to another desktop/laptop.
>>
>>108614058
>>108614066
Is it worth getting one of those nowadays? I currently have a 5600g
>>
>>108614671
does your motherboard not have a second m.2? there's often a second one tucked away in a weird spot. Check your mobo's manual. If not, does it have a free pcie slut?
There's also single drive variants if you're concerned about gpu airflow. Admittedly it is adding cost but it's the same cost as an nvme to sata adapter and you get to keep all the benefits.
>>
>>108614758
it's the only AM4 upgrade worth making. If not go to AM5.
>>
>>108614775
Can't afford the upgrade to am5. I just hope this 5800x3d will be reasonably priced, and that scalpers and bots won't fuck the rest of us over...
>>
>>108614758
5800x3d is really snappy in games if you have a gpu that's fast enough to make use of it
>>
>>108614788
5800x3d is enough to completely skip AM5 and wait until 2031 to upgrade to AM6
AM5 added literally nothing new, it's just AM4 but faster, by the time AVX512 matters to consumer hardware we'll be in AM6
>>
>>108614758
for the cost? not really unless you're having issues with your current cpu. might as well wait for am5 to become cheap. You're talking maybe a 10% increase in fps and that is assuming you weren't gpu bound. Also consider the ram you've already got and its speed.
t. 5600x and 5800x.
>>
>>108614788
>be reasonably priced

>>
>>108614807
$300 would be insane when the 270KP is $300

$400

I have 16gb 3200mhz. I'm guessing I need to upgrade this as well lol
>>
>>108614815
>when the 270KP is $300
And requires DDR5 memory modules, and a costlier motherboard.
The market price of the 7800X3D is the more relevant pricing concern for the 5800X3D.
>>
>>108614799
its way too early to judge am5 IMO since zen5 was a massive flop
zen6 will be a zen2 moment and zen7 (if its on am5) will be a second zen2 moment on the same socket
>>
What are the chances a shared split in silicon providers can occur when it comes to GPUs and has it happened before? TSMC has problems with Nvidia 60 series do they not, and its something to do with their fabrication method not playing well with huge complex stacked pieces? What if Intel's silicon ends up in the 60 series, or do we have to wait till 70 for that to be possible?
>>
>>108614852
maybe zen 7 will be worth it to upgrade after zen 8 is out, by 2031, after launch prices are >30% lower
but AM5 has nothing to show for so far, AM4 had 16 cores debut and X3D technology, so far AM5 has nothing
>>
>>108614833
just hang onto your system and pick one up in a year. or upgrade mobo+ram+gpu at that time.
At best you might see improvements in 1% lows, you know that sometimes jarring stutter that happens, but that's about it. If that's worth improving the cooling and another $300 then go for it.

there has been zero leaks about rtx6000 so far. the only ones out there so far are from RedGamingTech which is known to cook up bs frequently

intel will eventually release Titanlake (in ~2029?) which has nvidia silicon on the same package as intel's own cpu core chiplets. so far it hasnt happened yet in any shipping products iirc

GPU architecture is designed around the capabilities of the semiconductor foundries.
NVIDIA needs to spend years re-engineering the GPU design for other manufacturers.
It's not happening in the short term, which includes the RTX 70.

Intel is only producing the packaging & IO die for NVIDIA's Feynman GPUs atm, and they need to significantly improve the manufacturing yield to win bigger deals.

my 5090 has way more performance than i can use anyway so that's fine
>>
>>108614671
It's insane, plus a lot of boards will still kill SATA ports or otherwise fuck with PCIE lanes if an m2 is installed. Somehow the meta is shifting to dumping hundreds to thousands on a max of 3 storage drives for your PC (depending on how big you want your pitiful 3 drives to be, higher capacity being obscenely expensive now) and then spending even more money on a full-fledged 24/7-running (rip electric bills) NAS stuffed full of slightly less obscenely expensive hard drives if you want to actually have nice things, like local media storage.
>>
>>108615006

Very likely.
You can bet your ass that hardware wise the consoomer level GPUs are going to be the same as 5000 series, 16GB-32GB of memory.
Most performance uplift in gayming will just be some meme software gains and all of the hardware gains are geared towards AI.
If anyone is on the market for a GPU or any hardware then waitfagging isn't the way to go.
That's why I fomo bought a 5090 the instant I heard prices starting to go up. It's the only card that makes sense to buy along with the 5070 Ti.
It'll be relevant for the next 10 years and when I sell it, I will almost definitely at least break even.
What a fucked up market this is and it's not getting any better.
