Here's my ACTUALLY redesigned flag.
To begin with, the aspect ratio was bad. Adjusted to 2:1.
The blue square did not line up with the original aspect ratio. Adjusted to fit neatly into the top left quarter of the picture.
The odd number of red lines on the picture made the blue square no longer fit flushly with the lines. Adjusted the number of red lines to 12.
The stars were white, but everyone knows stars are yellow. Adjusted to the color yellow.
The stars did not take up the entirety of the blue square. Adjusted to make more efficient use of the space.
The original blue and red colors had poor contrast. Adjusted saturation for greater readability.
This current flag is more immediately identifiable and much more visible and readable in lower light and/or from farther away.

Apart from the symbolism of the 13 bars being gone it's not too bad in my possibly retarded eyes.
