I'm not a big fan of the Rance anime adaptation, but that's my personal opinion. I mean, if it wasn't for Takashi Nishikawa's signature "intense sex" animation style, it would be average at best. I don't know why they chose to adapt the first game, which is the worst one of the series, and gave sex scenes to girls who are not even in the top 10 of the hottest characters in the series. But Takashi Nishikawa's works are always above the hentai anime standard (Baku Ane, Kohakuiro, Koikishi, Otome Dori, Shikkoku no Shaga...) but it's really far from BB quality.
Taimanin Asagi is special, it depends. Everything by Teruaki Murakami, yes. But the rest is garbage.

Well ultimately it all comes down to varying opinions at the end of the day.
But some other great hentai since BB would be RanSem, Euphoria, Resort Boin, Joshikousei no Koshitsuki, Love Me: Kaede is one a lot of people like nowadays, Starless, Victorian Maid is a banger, Mashou no Nie 3, Helter Skelter, anything made by Butcha like Jutajima is a good watch, I'm not super crazy about it myself but I know a lot of people like Itadaki! Seieki, Speaking of Taimanin, Ingrid and Prison Battleship are held in very high regards etc etc.
Again BB is a certified classic, but I don't think it's the literal best thing in hentai. What I like most about BB myself is the animation quality not even so much the girls, and things like Hajimete no Hitouzuna and Victorian Main has really good animation as well.

Too much demand and not nearly enough staff and money to keep up with it. Animation studios have long operated on razor-thin margins, and with Japan's ever-declining population, the hentai industry doesn't really have the resources for high quality animation. If I were them, I'd switch to making shorter, better quality animations funded by Patreon or, hell, even OnlyFans. OnlyFans was originally supposed to be a platform for people like artists and video content creators anyway.
Trying to give this stitch another shot. I finally found a reliable way to get rid of the stupid gradients on some of the frames. I'll probably do an oval crop on the final set of frames to get rid of the ugly camera UI.

So it's not even that. That's a byproduct of Image Composite Editor creating different lighting balances between frames. This particular shot is tricky as fuck to stitch because it's supposed to be a POV camera shot, complete with recording UI and darkening gradients on the top and bottom portions of the screen. There's also pseudo-camera shaking effect involved that offsets the frame positioning during the pan. That leads to a TON of annoying shit to deal with.

I've been making stitches for the OP ever since I started making this thread. I definitely sympathize with how annoying it can be at times.. The one that annoys me the most is the overwhelming gradients that some studios CAN'T help to slab onto their animations. It like some directors just decided that a distracting purple smear should be on every shot.

Creating stitched animations involves the following steps:
1. Extracting every video frame of the panning scene that you want to use.
2. Finding every animation loop frame in the scene and combining some (or all) instances of those animation frames into stitched panoramas.
3. Aligning each panorama in the animation loop to make sure their backgrounds and/or perspectives are static and consistent throughout the loop.
4. Cropping excess areas of each stitched frame to make sure all the finalized loop frames have a consistent resolution.
5. Combining the final loop frames into a video file.
I recommend the following tools for the process:
1. FFMPEG for both extract the initial video frames and for combining your eventual stitched frames into an animated video.
2. Image Composite Editor for combining the video frames into stitched animation frame panoramas (the stitch thread >>8676693 is mainly comprised of these panoramas).
3. GIMP (or Photoshop) for aligning the stitched animation frames and cropping them down to a single resolution.

Okay, I need to preface with a couple of things first:
1. I'm using Windows 11. I'm not a Linux or MacOS user and I don't know much about the specifics of image and/or video editing on those OSs.
2. If you don't like using command line tools, you can forget about doing this at all. There are probably alternatives, but I feel like this is the easiest approach
The first step is to extract each frame from the panning scene you want to stitch. This is done using FFMPEG. Place the ffmpeg.exe and the source video file in the same folder, open a new terminal/command prompt in that folder, and type in the following command:
ffmpeg -i <source video file> -ss <start time> -to <end time> frame%d.png
The start and end times have format of "hh:mm:ss.fff", where h is hours, m is minutes, s is seconds, and f is milliseconds. For example, if you want to capture a panning scene that starts at 10 minutes and 20 seconds and ends at 11 minutes and 4 seconds on a video called "input.mkv", use the following command:
ffmpeg -i input.mkv -ss 00:10:20.000 -to 00:11:04.000 frame%d.png
This will create a whole bunch of .png files in the same folder named frame1, frame2, frame3, et cetera.
From there, you can start grouping those files by their animation frames.
This is where the level of effort required for each stitch can wildly vary. For some stitches, creating each stitched animation frame could be as simple as finding the first and last instances of the loop and just stitching those sets of images together. For others, it can involve finding every instance of every animation frame and THEN stitching them together.
Either way, I highly recommend doing this using Image Composite Editor. You CAN do it manually, but it's a colossal pain in the ass and not worth the effort - especially for things like diagonal panning scenes.

I'm gonna be using catbox links for screenshots in this tutorial because it's impossible to explain this with just one image. For this tutorial, I'll be recreating this stitch >>8782778 (kudos to whoever saved it, hehe).
I've got all eight frames in the animation ready to combine into a video. I COULD just use them outright, but that would result in this:

Not great. There's a weird jitteriness to the animation and the background is moving around too much between each frame. We can do way better.
This is where GIMP comes into play. We have two basic goals with our work in GIMP:
1. To align each frame of the animation loop within an overlapping area.
2. To crop each frame of the animation down to that overlapping area to establish a uniform image resolution.
To begin, we need to open the first frame of the animation loop in GIMP and make sure it has an Alpha Channel added. This allows for transparency in the image:

Next, we need to enlarge the canvas of the current GIMP project to add more room for later frames that are offset by the panning. In GIMP, you do this by click Image -> Canvas Size... on the top toolbar.

Our enlarged canvas should look something like this:

Now let's add the second frame of the animation loop to the GIMP project as a new layer. This is done by simply clicking on the image in Explorer and dragging it into the main GIMP window:

Now comes the tricky part: Aligning the two frames. To do this, set the mode of the second layer (second frame) to Difference. This should make look like this:

What you're seeing right now is a visual representation of the differences between the first and second layers of the image.

The key thing to understand with Difference mode is the following: The closer the color is to pitch black, the more similar a layer is to a visible layer below it. Thus, our goal is to find an area in the panning frames that stays the same (or mostly the same) between each animation loop and use that to align each frame of the animation.
In this example, I'll be using the floor above Hatsuka's back as the frame of reference. It has no animation whatsoever - it just moves along with the panning sequence.

Use the Move Tool to nudge the second layer over until the floor sections completely overlap and are very close to pitch black in color.

NOTE: Oftentimes, you won't get a perfectly pitch black overlap like in the image above. This is due to a number of reasons, including post-processing, compression artifacts, and other details that create small differences between each frame of a video. Sometimes you just gotta eyeball this shit. Switch between Difference mode and Normal mode to see in which position the upper layer looks the best.
SECOND NOTE: Always use the first animation frame as the default position. Some panning scenes have weird, sub-pixel offsets that happen with later frames in the animation and I've found the best way to minimize their impact is to just compare every subsequent frame's position to the first frame's.
We now have to repeat this process for every frame of the animation loop.

Okay, I've added every layer of the animation into the canvas.

We now have to find an area of overlap. This part can be a bit tedious and you have to be extra careful when using Image Composite Editor-generate stitches because they can have strange borders (unless you autocropped all of them).
Here's the horizontal area of overlap I got for this stitch project:

I can then click on Image => Crop to Selection to crop all of the layers down to this resolution:

To eliminate the empty sections on the top and bottom, I'll just resize the canvas to 1080 pixels. This is from a 1920x1080 video, so I kind of lucked out on that front. Unfortunately, many times, it won't be this simple.

Now that we have all the layers down to a single resolution, we can export these as separate image. Go through each layer, and export it as a totally uncompressed .png file.
With this done, we now have all eight frames of the animation ready to combine into a webm:

Place the animation frames in the same folder as FFMPEG, much like in step 1.
Afterwards, open a terminal again and type in the following command:
ffmpeg -framerate <framerate> -i image%d.png <output filename>.webm
This will combine the images into the an animated webm, like so:

A couple of things to note:
1. Since most animes run at around 24 FPS, framerates around 12-14 usually look the best. If you REALLY wanna match the source as closely as possible, you'll have to duplicate each repeating animation frame in the loop and set the final framerate to 24.
2. Even widths and heights are your friends. If your final video resolution has an odd value, I suggest cropping every frame down a pixel to make it even. That will make it easier to scale the video down to fit 4chan's size limits.
3. Practice makes perfect. Sometimes your stitches will look crappy, and that's okay. In my experience, all the GIMP-related steps are the biggest sources of mistakes and/or problems. Keep at it and you'll improve like I did.
To shrink the WEBM above to fit 4chan's size limits, alter the command above to the following:
ffmpeg -framerate <framerate> -i image%d.png -vf "scale=<new width>:<new height>" <output filename>.webm
For my example, I did the following:
ffmpeg -framerate 12 -i image%d.png -vf "scale=1224:540" output_small.webm
And that's the webm you see on this post!

I was never quite that non-technical with stitching, but I did start with using GIMP to do everything manually. That method is fine for simple panning shots going in cardinal directions (up, down, left, right), but once you start adding diagonals and/or curvature to the panning, the process of aligning all the frames in the stitch becomes insanely fucking tedious. Image Composite Editor was a game-changer for me in that regard.

You're right!
I primarily focus on cardinal directions for my stitches. But the reason I don't do diagonals is because I'm kind of a perfectionist and I'm not the biggest fan of seeing edges on my stitches. Not that I think they're wrong or a mark of bad stitching or anything and actually a lot of times seeing the edges shows me just how much effort someone has put into a stitch, especially when animated. I just like the look of a clean line. Whenever I've done diagonals I would always crop it to be straight for this reason, but then you can miss a large chunk of the picture which sucks. So yeah, for more complex stitching your way it probably better.

Yeah, the subject matter of that hentai might be horrid, but I will admit the animation and art are pretty good.
That stitch is not great, though. It'll take a good bit of effort to fix all the problems in it, from the frame misalignment, to the random blurring, and likely some scaling problems that I introduced myself.

Alright, found a method to get rid of the blurs. It's tedious, but it works. I have to do the following:
1. Do an initial stitching pass with Image Composite Editor to get the width dimension of each frame resized in its stitch.
2. Manually pick out those frame images and resize them in GIMP.
3. Crop every frame down to a 500 pixel height to get rid of (or at least mitigate) the post-processing blur filter.
4. Do another pass of Image Composite Editor's stitching with the edit frames.

nta, but most of the time things like light flickering is just a consequence of how the thing was animated. It always looks smooth in motion, but when you pause something frame by frame you begin to see all the annoying tricks studios do that makes stitching pictures a pain.

Ok, so a couple of things about this animation that I've never run into before stitching and I hope other studios don't do. It wasn't that the last picture of the loop was different, its that the loop is deceptive in that it's actually 2 different kinds of loops altogether.
So most animations would go:
>1,2,3,4,5, 1,2,3,4,5, 1,2,3,4,5
But this animation for whatever reason went:
>1,2,3,4,5, 1a,2a,3a,4a,5a, 1,2,3,4,5 ,1a,2a,3a,4a,5a
The second loop for whatever reason is slightly different than the other, but its only a difference of slight change. I.E the head is slightly lowered, the lips curved a different way, the hands slightly away, the cock slightly further from the breast, but it would still follow the same basic flow which makes it look virtually the same upon a naked glance. I have no idea why they would bother making the loop like that, it doesn't really help with fluidness or realism, as in motion, the loops look 99% the same. It's only when freeze framed that you can tell they're different.. and even then only when comparing one picture directly to another.
For this stitch I decided to just loop it by using the first set of pictures, instead of the whole thing. To save myself sanity and time, and like I said before, it's virtually impossible to tell the difference.
Anyways, here you go, helped kill some boredom, but I'm not looking to do another stitch anytime soon since I do everything manually.

You're better than me, I don't even entertain shots that zoom in or out.
If I could offer one bit of advice tho, I would try making your works "at least" longer than 4 seconds. So that you can put it in full screen and have the time bar disappear at the bottom. I personally tend to make it at least 7 seconds so that anyone can play with the speed settings and still have them disappear. Videos tend to need 3 seconds for it to disappear, but I always just add one more second just to be safe.

I don't know what device/OS you're using, but Windows and Android browsers automatically close the video UI and loop the webm so long as you're using the one from the 4chan upload. If you're talking about the catbox links, then on PCs, you can right-click webm and click "Loop" to have it automatically loop for you.

No, I'm talking about whenever you put the video in fullscreen mode the UI/time bar won't disappear unless it has at least 3 seconds of inactivity. And for whatever reason videos count looping as activity so it never goes away if the video is too short.
You can see in my video >>8829114 when you put it in fullscreen, after 3 seconds it'll disappear. That's because I purposely made it longer than 3 seconds, and you could even double its speed in the settings and get it to disappear as well because I made it 7 seconds long.

It's not a matter of passion but of business realities in the anime industry. Anime studios are usually broke as fuck and bound to strict deadlines, which means having to produce lots of content cheaply and quickly to pay the bills. Popular Patreon artists have way more freedom in taking their time to produce a better product.
Also helps that Patreon-funded hentai usually amounts to short sex scenes, not full blown 15+ minute-long anime episodes.
