At the end of the day I will never trash-talk any artist too much because drawing is fucking hard. The art is pretty fucking good, and I think it's actually the coloring/shading that gives it a slighlty odd look.

It's because the characters are strongly colored, to the point of realism, but the background isn't, and same thing for the amount of detail. The characters have detail, but the background is empty. At the end of the day it's small flaw all things considered. Honestly when you think about all of these things you realize how hard it is to draw one of these doujins.

We live in such a fucked-up world where japs do this amazing shit and still barely make enough to afford to live

and people will complain about fucking every single shit, like that one before, an artist makes one tihng you don't like and suddenly they're shit and not worth a sdecond look even though shimipan has improved by quite a bit considering their earlier works when they just came out. the art is simplistic enough I honestly really like the simplicity of the designs and the rendering is pretty good. my only real gripe, though it's not really a big deal for me, is that the chapters end too suddenly.
Also the backgrounds are simplistic, because they're 3d backgrounds, basically a lot of artists use this drawing program where they can insert 3d objects and just draw over them, shimipan however does not really draw over them, Hyji is another artist that uses that feature, in fact Hyji also traces over 3d characters. I'm not sure if Shimipan does as well but he probably does, as do many other artists.

You're totally right, the backgrounds are 3d, I knew that already but it didn't even register with me. Because in black and white it's barely noticeable that it's 3D but in color it's definitely more noticeable.
It's a great way to make this stuff easier, yeah I don't know the solution there I do feel it's already magic that they can put out these doujins at all
