Mine is a little weird because I'm putting Squad above the CDs despite haven't played it yet, so in a way I could consider that in "actual" last place, but on a conceptual level I can see myself pretty easily liking Squad when I do eventually play it. In fact, there's a chance I could like it even more than AT, since I like turn based games more than what AT offers.. but for now, since I haven't played it, its in "last" place. Or at least it would be.. if I didn't care so little for the drama CDs. I'm sorry.. more power to you if you like the audio stuff, and I'm glad anons on here help each other in that regard, but the audio stuff does literally nothing for me. I played AT, I tried to stick with AT.. couldn't find it in me to care enough to continue playing, but its a nice distraction if nothing else. I feel the OVA's are better than RPGX for the most part, especially with anime like Ingrid, Kangoku and TA3 under it's belt. RPGX is a good middle ground, its steady and consistent, but also gives me scenes to a bunch of characters I don't care for a lot of the times. TABA and especially the VNs however still holds the highest regard from me. Nothing gives me that raw Taimanin feeling like the VNs do both story and scene wise. And TABA is more or less the VNs (in tone) but in gacha form. Which isn't my preferred way to receive Taimanin content, but if they're going to do it.. at least do it with the same overall vibe as the VNs, which TABA does.
Kinda sad that my most preferred media are the things that don't get updates anymore.. but.. it is what it is I guess..

I really had to think about whether I preferred the content of TABA or RPGX, while I think TABA is definitely more in line with the classic tone of the series, RPGX has greater variety and generally was more memorable for me (though that may be a recency bias thing). They are definitely the two I could move one way or another.
Drama CD's are fine
I never cared much for the OVA's, the art style is whatever though not as good as Kagami's, but the obnoxious editing is what really turns me off of them. the other ones out there are usually fairly low quality by the standard of their release date, I'd say the Yukikaze ones might be my favourite if I had to pick? It's fairly bog standard (also them randomly making Real jacked was kinda funny)
I haven't touched Squad or AT and don't really have any intention of ever doing so, aside from being SFW I just never heard anything good about them

The problem I have with the TY OVAs is that the first episode was amazing, then it immediately went through development hell and the original Episode 2 (which looked like it was also going to be good) got cancelled. Then years later Episode 2 and 3 got made by a different team whose quality was significantly worse than the people who made Episode 1. Every once in a blue moon I go look back at the trailer for the original Episode 2 and lament what we didn't get.

I don't know everything that happened behind the scenes, but when Ep.1 came out they showed a preview at the end of it that showed Ep.2. Then it went radio silent for over 2 years with no hint of a Ep.2, making a lot of people wonder what the hell was going on. Then suddenly they continued it and the art/animation style was completely different and nothing shown in the Ep.2 preview ever happened. So something happened where they had to change up everything and start from scratch.
It's a shame too, because the original Ep.2 looked better, it alluded that we would've seen the mission from the beginning again, but from Rinko's perspective. Whereas the version that came out kinda just continues onwards after Ep.1 from Rinko's perspective, missing a lot of training she would've went through. We even get to see that Real would've trained her asshole (the thing Rinko is kind of known for) in the original version. That's kind of glossed over in the Ep.2 we got.

Yes, they have increased the number of cards in the Taimanin Collection game. But that game is not TABA, it's kind of their official TABA viewer of the Japanese version. But without story, events, "profile" texts and with some cards missing.

The TABA viewer from the OP already have all the scenes (including the ones added to Taimanin Collection with the March 10th update), so no new scenes will be added to the TABA viewer.

Yeah, I should further clarify, the transparent pngs in RPGX aren't a bad thing in and of themselves. I've actually used them for a lot of things, so they definitely have their uses. I just think they're a bit lazy compared to the really well done pictures we used to get in TABA. Some of (if not) most of the best single character artwork came from those TABA cards alone. Which is crazy when you think about it.
The pngs are functionally fine, but are much more lacking in the artistic department. It feels like to me someone high up just went "Get rid of it! its taking too much time, just use character pngs and call it a day."

Yeah she was a cool design, I don't think they were as interested in creating new regularly appearing units back then so there were a few one and dones back in the early days of RPGX, she unfortunately would have been a casualty of it.

The OVA's were my first experience of the franchise, partially Taimanin Asagi and Hell Knight Ingrid. Taimanin Yukikaze too until they went through development hell and fucked up.
AT is fun for the something to do but wish it had the "good stuff." But I find Nagi hot despite her bland personality.
Personally I never cared for Drama CDs aside from the artwork.
Taimanin squad is just super boring and the main story doesn't interest me. Would be nice if that made (you) the actual protagonist but even still the game is a snooze fest.

1.)VNs: VNs should obviously be at the top because they have more cohesive stories, proper buildup, and follow-up scenes.
2.)TABA: Although RPGX is more consistent in its characterization, it also takes fewer risks. TABA, on the other hand, would give us a bunch of random, one-off characters from Kagami and Aoi that were usually great. They would go all out with scenes and even have entire NTR story arcs because they were trying to be faithful to the franchise.
3.)RPGX: There are some good scenes, but, as we've said countless times, too much content is devoted to vanilla. Vanilla itself isn't bad, but deciding to relegate certain girls, especially already-established characters like Yukikaze, to being vanilla only was a terrible decision. Then there's the fact that they took other VN characters and completely rewrote them to have entirely different personalities and lore. Rewriting Cara's lore to solve the problem of her and Edwin both being top vampires in their original VN by making her his loving sister was absolutely ridiculous. In the VNs, Cara is on the side of the humans and is turned into a sex slave because her uncle wanted revenge for her not siding with him. Cara would hate Edwin.
4.)OVA: They used to be good about 10 years ago, but not anymore. They used to be good about 10 years ago, but not anymore. It's difficult to categorize them because the first 30% were excellent, while the last 70% were either wasted potential or terrible. I'm not a Murakami fan, so I don't appreciate his use of spaz-camera and lens flare. The sex was good though.

1.) VNs obviously. Kinda feels like cheating since this is basically how the series peaked
2.) Action Taimanin. I feel it's extremely valuable to the world of the series that we can see the intended effects of arts and see what the world building is supposed to exist. A major problem with the VNs in my eyes is how a lot of the elements in the story seem to exist to justify a fetish or a crudely specific pornographic scene at some point so allowing us to see things the ninja magic/arts properly and experiencing the series in a different dimension is very valuable.
3.) TABA: It expanded the world greatly while still keeping in the tone of the series. The focal characters are very fun to have around too
4.) OVAs: They're the classics. Nothing else really needs to be said. Safe to say we're all here because of them.
5.) Squad: I should rate it a lot lower, but I like "four niggas in a row" JRPG formats and the 3D models for all the literal whos are very amusing. I also actually like the arena. It's a hard honeymoon bias for new game and it's quickly losing stream however. It really doesn't seem like the game is headed fucking anywhere at all which is concerning given how many projects they've fumbled already.
6.) RPGX: I would've rated it a lot higher years ago because I never played it. But having lived through exstasy made me realize just how bad it really was. Sounds weird to say this but I actually enjoyed "playing" TABA more than this. At the very least TABA was a simple clicker, but in this one you actually force yourself through a bad JRPG that ammounts to nothing
7.) Drama CDs. Can I be real? these feels like cash grabs. I think they're cheap scenes without CGs that are meant to justify inflating the pricetag of cheaply printed physical merch.

The only thing I really disagree with is the notion that AT is valuable because it shows us ninja arts and essentially how strong Taimanin's are. The VNs were more than adequate in showing us exactly how strong they were and how their Ninja Arts work. There's tons of cool fight scenes that do so. Hell the very first fight in the first game between Asagi and Oboro is still one of my favorite fights in the series.
I feel we don't really need AT to in order to demonstrate/know that.

nta but i disagree with your statement. Yes, VNs had cool fights, but AT does a good job of showcasing the characters and their powers, especially later ones.
Yes, imagination is a great thing, when you read some of these fights you can imagine pretty wild stuff, but as a visualization, AT is worth it. Just the visual showcasing made me like and care more about some characters, that i didn't before, like Mirabell (most of her scenes are meh and not carried by her design), Ragnarok or Wight.
Now, i wouldn't place it a second place, but i also wouldn't disregard the appeal of it.
The notion of "written fights with couple CGs that show it" being enough for ninja action is rubbing me the wrong way, if i am being honest. No, it's not enough. And now we don't even have VNs. RPGX fights are ass, at least the ones that I've read.

I don't think either you or >>8848459 are "wrong" in what you say, I just wholly disagree with the premise that AT serves a better demonstration of their abilities than the VNs. Usually the VNs are so utterly detailed in whats happening beat by beat "with" the cool illustrations that the scene in my head is usually far more "epic" than repeating the same combos in AT. As I've expressed in >>8844212 I did try to stick with AT, but got bored of it after awhile. But I remember vividly reading each sentence of multiple fight scenes in the VNs, being completely engrossed in the outcome and even being a little nervous that something bad was about to happen.. AT just never gave me that personally..
I don't even think AT is bad in this regard, I just don't think it's better than the VNs, but it serves it's purpose fine enough, I do see the appeal, or at least.. the conceptual appeal.

I'll be honest with you, I don't even really remember any RPGX fights..

That's not what I meant. Sure the VNs describe them to you, but it's a very different experience to be told something than to actually be shown something.
It's very different to have a VN describe Yukikaze zoom around bathed in lightning or spin in the air showering the ground with electricity than to perform Hitaiten and Raiun in game and watch it perform in real time on an actual 3D model.

And I know it's not the best but it's a dimension no other part of the series can give properly. Most of the series is ADV-style narration, that's a dime in a dozen and it can easily be extracted and run through a viewer. 3D action is unique and there's only one way to experience it.

Honestly, all i get from this post is that you personally don't like AT and there is actually nothing can be said to change your mind. Again, i actually think that you overestimate how much text and some pictures can do to convey cool shit, because you need a balance between "show and tell" in the media. I assume much, but i will bet that you read VNs first, right?
People say that AT is bad at story, so it fails on "tell" part, but VNs don't exactly show you much, so they fail on "show" part (for me). Other gachas have the same issues. They can't really show much, due to budget constraints and format.
If i was in the past I would've bet on Squad, but it failed both parts, if i am being honest.
I don't know. This is a personal opinion discussion. Can it really be settled by words?

I would also say playing a good handful of character action games myself really makes the 3D action in AT pale in comparison. Which is why I was hoping Squad would be better because I do enjoy turn based games, but from what anons have said so far, maybe it isn't that good? Yes, I don't personally care for AT, but my mind can definitely be changed. It's just a hard task to accomplish for this particular subject because I've already experienced both formats firsthand and know how I felt coming out of both. I'm not overestimating, I'm just telling you how I felt. With the VNs I always loved the fight scenes, but with AT my eyes kind of just glazed over after awhile. In fact, AT had the opposite effect of making them feel strong for me. In the VNs barring final bosses, Taimanin's are usually swift with killing enemies, but the damage spongy enemies in AT makes Taimanin's feel weak in comparison.
But I take your point, this is all personal preference and opinion and can't really be settled, Thanks for the convo regardless..

NTA, but if AT with its flashy action did not catch your fancy, I doubt Squad's non-existent plot will. Then again, game is free, just set aside a few hours to try it for yourself, but I was quite disappointed in how it turned out. Models are very nice, everything looks fantastic, and the characters and costumes are much closer to their original (RPGX) versions, while AT has drifted onto its own style over time. And that is it. The whole story is told in a voice over narration on static backgrounds, without any characters involved. Really lazy stuff, in my opinion.

Each game has gotten progressively worse at that. VN were great, and took their time to build up the world and characters. TABA had a cohesive, if not always amazing, story, and a reasonably compelling protagonist. RPGX is fine, but separating the H scenes from the plot makes the world feel less dangerous, and the harem stuff is a bit out of place. AT is incredibly slow, with less plot going on in its almost 7 years than TABA had in half that time, and a main character so bland, he might as well not be there, and little would change. And now Squad, which only has characters during fights, or the rare scenes when you get the right combinations of units in the gacha, and are entirely disconnected from anything else.

Damn I just... damn, I was really hoping Squad would be at least a good distraction like AT was. But I'm a big story guy, so what you say is like a kiss of death to me. But I'll still try it at some point to see how I feel. Like I said, I definitely like turn based combat, and the models do look nice (I think they aren't as censored as they are in AT as well yeah?) And I like the big pool of characters you don't see that much being playable like Yatsu Kuro and Tats. But I'm hearing nothing but bad news from it, which is a shame..

Your 2nd paragraph is actually kinda crazy to think about read out loud, but you're right, and I never really realized how the story was slowly draining with each new entry of Taimanin. Does anyone remember how GOGO's story was?

The vn is the best when it comes to world building, characters and plot. Whether you like the h content or not, just getting to understand the characters and their abilities puts emphasis on how skilled they are and a good understanding of who they are with the right amount of pacing.
TABA is pretty good for a gacha game with a great protagonist that fits well for this type of series and a pretty good plot if I do say so.
The OVA's were my first experience to the series and it made me look into the series and get into the vn's. Even though I'm not a big fan of Murasaki's camera movement, I did enjoy the first TA ova more and it is more consistent and slightly faithful to the vn more than the other OVA's. Aside from that one the Makai Kishi Ingrid ova I do like for it's visuals but would have been nice if was a faithful adaptation of TM just for Sakura to be there but hey that's just me nitpicking.
While I'm not really a huge fan of drama CD's and would prefer visuals, it at least is in it's adult roots. Personally if they release this as small digital copies with single cgs of what they do in the drama CD's I would be more invested.

RPGX is alright. I'm not a big fan of some changes they made, (ex. Cara) and there are some h scenes I do enjoy but I hate that a majority doesn't connect to the main story or is semi-canon to the plot. Granted some plotlines are very interesting and some characters I do like how they are integrated but it feels just less like the og. The protagonist can range from ok to meh, just not as interesting as his Chad self was in TABA.
AT is fun for maybe a good minute of seeing how the girls play but not enough to get a full scope of their fighting abilities like in the VN. The plot is just slow and if you take the protagonist away, the plot wouldn't really change given he is at his weakest in this verse. Not a huge fan of them making this dark series about sexy ninja girls being tortured and raped by monsters and humans for the general audience.
Squad is just shit. Like really shit. The only three things I liked is the character models looking really good and similar to their RPGX versions that I wish the girls have h scenes to make this game somewhat worth playing, like Rinko and Kirara look very sexy here. The male characters get some attention with Kuro, Tats, Kotaro and even Black being playable. Lastly I am a fan of turn based combat, however this combat is stale. Like they only have three forms of attacks and no use of items, blocking, or extra abilities in their repertoire. The plot is the worse with just a narrator over background images and the only character interactions you get are in intimacy scenes depending on the bond of characters that have history. The game is obviously a lazy cash grab

I don't know.. kinda feels like Yuki in canon isn't that easy going or susceptible to that level of manipulation. It's only really the gacha-verse that makes her easy to trick because the plot has to happen in like 12 lines. She's usually portrayed as being pretty reserved to people she's not close to.
