I remember hearing that a possible origin point of the Eurasian flood myths could have come from the formation of the Black Sea as we know it today, when the Mediterranean flooded into the freshwater lake roughly 8,000 years ago. Not sure about all the finer details, but it is local and old enough of an event to fit thr bill.
