Salvation is by faith
Sanctification is by works
There, 500 years of autistic infighting solved
Prots can have their solafideism while Papists can keep their traditionalism

:1 John 2
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
Now by this we know that we have come to know him, if we obey his commandments. Whoever says, “I have come to know him,” but does not obey his commandments is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist; but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we know that we are in him: whoever says, “I abide in him,” ought to walk in the same way as he walked.

Yeah, he came to call sinners not the righteous

He saved me from my strong enemy
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
The Lord dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
For I have kept the ways of the Lord,
and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For all his rules were before me,
and his statutes I did not put away from me.
I was blameless before him,
and I kept myself from my guilt.
So the Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
With the merciful you show yourself merciful;
with the blameless man you show yourself blameless;
with the purified you show yourself pure;
and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
For you save a humble people,
but the haughty eyes you bring down.
For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
For by you I can run against a troop,
and by my God I can leap over a wall.
This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Anyone who says this wasn't raised in an Anglican church.
Most boring ass inoffensive shit possible, it's essential just a community club where moderately conservative local boomer women with overinflated egos gossip over tea and biscuits while everyone under 18 is forced to dance to "he's got the whole world in his hands".

You’re acting as though this is some compromise and not just exactly what the reformers were saying
Albeit sanctification is only “by works” inasmuch as it occurs in the Christian’s life, and not that you are to rest in your own strength (which is nothing) for your sanctification, but you are to trust in Christ for your sanctification as well as your justification.

This argument genuinely never made sense to me. If you have true faith, then works come in automatically. If you don't do good works, then you don't have faith. Works are physical proof of your faith, and you can't have salvation if you don't do good works, because without works faith is fake.
