What caused the lack of favor the Abbasids currently have in modern MENA-Islamic storiography?
It seems only westoid leftist historians and their "muh Abbasid Reinassance" myth still care about them. Meanwhile.
>Militant muslims/wahhabis consider them degenerate in the doctrine and fake caliphs: they would rater circlejerk the Rashidun
>Arab nationalists like the Saudis consider the Abbasid too much "persian" for their tastes, and would rather circlejerk the arab-suprematist Ummayads
>Persians and mesopotamian arabs that were the bulks of the Abbasid support dont care much about them because nowadays they are mostly Shia
>Turks would rather circlejerk their Ottoman "Caliphate", and take credit of the fall of the Abbasids because they unironically think they are closely related to east Asia mongols
>Rootless muslims without a specific empire to LARP to usually circlejerk fucking Andalus of all the lost islamic civilization
They were for many centuries the undisputed religious authority of all the non-Alid muslims: how exactly nowadays most muslims dont care about them?

They're glorified but indirectly. Whenever you hear Muslims yapping about muh "Islamic golden age", muh Islamic scientist and alchemist, muh house of wisdom, they're talking about the Abbasids
