Edits I am fine with:
- constructive criticism (possibly with notes to the artist on how to improve)
- when the edit is better than the original
- adding cool backgrounds to a 'character in white void'- drawing
- making tits bigger
- an improvement of morality in the work (e.g removing dicks from Futa drawings or redrawing femboys as actual girls)
Edits I am not fine with:
- shit taste
- perversion
- anything meant to put down the original artist

It depends. Most memes are just edits of other's art, and people reuse other's art in plenty of other context, so in a general sense I'm okay with it, and I think most would be too.
Then there's edits to make fun of the art or artist, and I think the artist themselves would obviously disapprove of that, and therefore I would as well... so I guess my approval depends on the artists approval.
As for AI editing, which I assume is the real meat of the question OP wanted to get to... I'm against it in a general sense, since the artist will likely also be against (since artist are almost universally loath to AI right now), it probably trains the AI on the artists work without their permission, and many have moral considerations against AI at this time so, having an AI edit of someone's work without knowing the artist's feelings on the matter is extremely inconsiderate.

I think counterspells are bad game design.
Planeswalkers were a mistake and you deserve way more UB than you slop eating pigs in the Nebraska ecosystem can handle.
Also tittyedit anon uses AI.

depends on the purpose, obviously
I think it's fine when it's done out of actual appreciation for the original and you're trying to build on top of it and make something cool
stuff like making covers of songs
making edits of films
editing sprite sheets (I remember spending ages making little characters and scenes out of final fantasy sprites when I was a kid. in paint. if I had aseprite I would have been in heaven)

i’d hate it so much, probably because the stuff i’ve been making recently feels extremely personal and i care about it a lot, specifically as i feel the subjects are complexly characterized, and people tend to do really bad things with them. kind of like how you wouldn’t want someone to take a quiet, soulful drawing of your waifu and hypersexualize it.
>>7872832
but this too.
i wouldn’t mind at all if they did absolutely anything if they kept it to themselves. but i understand stuff happens, and wouldn’t lash out at anyone no matter what they might do. it’s me who shouldn’t feel this way, because it will happen, like ai grabbing whatever you post, and there's nothing i can do about it, except to try to engage with more interesting, positive things elsewhere rather than tilting at passing windmills.

Coomer brained retards that consoooom whale products can’t enjoy Jesper’s fantastical art for what it is because they can only devour and not do anything new. He’s actually an incredible artist and his process of peeling the paint is fascinating

It's one of those arms race situations. I think counterspells can be fun as a known quantity where it becomes a game of trying to bait out a counterspell vs trying to feint its use until the perfect moment. I don't know if there's a way to keep the design space small like that while having continuous updates and additions to mechanics. The community has voted in favor of more content at the cost of retarded design

unrefined and tasteless aberrations produced by those that have a vision but lack the skills and talent to produce anything without coat-tailing off a real artists' work.

I made this character. This is Ms. Fortune, the female version of Fortune.
I combined a random four-leaf clover character I found on the internet with Ms. Pac-Man.

It kind of depends to me. I say 'depends' but honestly I've never seen it done out of anything but bitterness or "They did it wrong...here's how it SHOULD be!!!"
to go further i can't think of an actual, good artist who edits other peoples work. it's always some mid tier or beg stomping down on another beg or showing their lack of understanding for what makes good art (and subsequent bitterness)

>>7872796
One should atleast credit the original artist. Even if you hate them, it's not your work.
>>7872897
Weird how this applies to art where you can just take it and reupload it regardless of the artists premission but if you just take some's writing and use it without credit/source people will cruficy you and try to ruin your career for plagerism. Music is also very reliant on the creator being good willed.

they can go fuck themselves. their stranglehold on "who gets to make a living off art" has been dead for like a decade
the only reason to not edit art is if the original artist is a retard who gives a fuck, and you want to get on his good side for some stupid reason. but its rarely in your interests to be buddy-buddy with shitheads like that and its damaging to the soul to be inauthentic and lie about it if asked

If you are trying to learn, whatever.
If you post it, you are pathetic. It's always going to look reductive, petty, or amateurish. It's not something an actual pro would do.
Like shitty z-list rappers trying to "remix" actually popular songs, you sometimes hear on the radio.
